I never understood comments like this. I mean I agree 110%, Jake deserves so much more recognition. But can it honestly perplex anyone anymore how mind-numbingly bad chart music is? I mean the reason shitty easily digestible drivel gets on the charts is because most people indeed are about as deep as a child-sized thimble. If you were one of those people with the consciousness level of a shoehorn, you wouldn't be listening to this jewel either. Let's just be happy Jake has an audience.

There's no better artist to listen to while riding your bike on back roads looking at the parts of our world not yet touched by progress and civilization. When White Buffalo is playing in my headphones I can actually slow down and take in the beauty around me instead of flying by it.

The best singer song writer going these days. Saw him in NYC and he rocked it. Acoustic set and it slayed.
This is the first song I heard from The White Buffalo, just searching random songs one night on youtube years ago. I've been a fan since, and this is still my favorite because it pulled me in and led me to so many other great songs of his. I'm from Seattle and grew up in the grunge era and have heard lot's of great singers. I kept wondering how he wasn't known or viewed by more people. I felt the same way about Shawn Smith. Look up his solo work, and Satchel and the band Brad with Stone Gossard to realize Shawn's talent too. Anyways, now I'm looking and The White Buffalo has video's that have been viewed millions of time. Sometimes it just takes a while. Music is strange that way. So glad I found his song that night.
his music is like a breathe of fresh air. So raw, honest, and what music should be.

Since I discovered The White Buffalo throught Sons of Anarchy, I've been listening to his music daily. And I've had several "best songs", like "BB Guns and Dirt Bike", "Lone Night" e "Come Join The Murder". Now it's this one.
I hope one day he comes to Brazil, so I could hear him live. But, anyway, thank you, Jake Smith, your music is awesome.

What memories it conjures! A time when interrelationships were not a common thing and narrowminded sentiments from both sides of the fence sparred and spat.
God I loved her…
A glance form afar begat a forbidden love that was doomed from the start. How could we have known that love was barbed with politics and in-between-the-lines edicts that we shouldn’t have trespassed?
We knew our love was forbidden by the deliberate whispers when anyone saw us together. “what she see in a F***ing Packie”? “Can’t she do better than that”? We laughed about it, but it secretly cut us both to the bone.
We’d been together for a year and the love I felt for her was real … at least real enough from the confines of my mind and her heart.
I drove her home from a local park where we’d been enjoying our solitary company; away from the whispers and sideway glances. It was there that I kissed her for the first time. I had never kissed a girl before. My heart burst like a puffed up balloon and showered me with a million fragments of joy, covered me with a million hopes.
I drove her home that night, with visions of us together for eternity. She was my first love, My comfort in a miserable world. My rainfall in the desert.
Pulling up to the driveway, I saw her father, whom I had never met before, sitting on the porch. She comforted me saying that there was nothing to worry about and that he was “good” guy and he knew about us already. I believed her.
I remember him reaching into the car and punching me repeatedly while screaming something about me having no right to be in is country.. It wasn’t the pain of his punches I remember; it was her screaming and pleading for him to stop. My heart broke like that balloon I mentioned earlier, but this time with wrath for her and her father. Hot rage took the place of the warmth of hope and love I felt only moments ago.
It was then that my heart matured and hardened with the experience of life.
I never saw or spoke to her again after that.
I’ve since married and am in the embrace of love once again. I’ve secretly never forgotten her or the warmth of her lips against mine so long ago. And perhaps have never forgiven the world.
Anyhow, this song always reminds me of her. It reminds me of how much of a coward I was and the love I gave up on so easily… I still think of her.

Feels like this was filmed in the Yukon. Those are boreal forests---so could be any high altitude forests, but reminds me so much of the Yukon.... nice song.
