    Kelly Shannon is a Professor at the Institute of Urbanism and Landscape, Oslo School of Architecture and Design (Norway) and part-time Professor at the Department of Architecture, Urbanism and Planning, University of Leuven (Belgium). She is also co-author of the book The Landscape of Contemporary Infrastructure (2010). Her research is at the intersection of analysis, interpretative mapping and new cartographies and design. Most of her work focuses on the evolving relation of landscape, infrastructure and urbanization in Asia. A particular interested focuses development of landscape urbanism strategies that work with water and topography. She has been a guest professor at University of Colorado in Denver, ESARQ in Barcelona, Peking University in Beijing and the GSD, Harvard University in Cambridge. She received her first professional architecture degree from Carnegie-Mellon University (1988) and post-graduate masters from the Berlage Institute (1994). In 2004, she obtained her PhD with a dissertation entitled Rhetorics and Realities: Addressing Landscape Urbanism, Three Cities in Vietnam.
    Shannon is a registered architect in New York. She has led major urban design projects including the new masterplan for Ca Mau and Cantho (Vietnam), Banjamarsin (2009, Indonesia), Hiep Phuoc (2008, HCMC, Vietnam) and Vinh (2004, Vietnam). She is co-editor (with Bruno De Meulder) of Explorations of/in Urbanism and UFO, In 2010, she co-authored (with Marcel Smets) The Landscape of Contemporary Infrastructure, published by NAi Rotterdam.
