It’s actually implied that the men are infertile, not the women, especially the men from the military class who were exposed to chemicals. They are the source of the problem, but lower class men aren’t considered for the rituals and women are blamed as a matter of course.
Lola Montez I’ve read the novel. But your points suppose that a brutal government makes rational choices. That’s not what that kind of society does. Think of Stalin killing all the Jewish doctors who could have saved his life. An oppressive society doesn’t look at what will work best, it leans heavily on its own belief system even if it’s damaging to the population. Also, the novel takes from true events, but that doesn’t mean you have to read it literally. It’s not so absurd to imagine a future where military are exposed to infertility through chemicals, but even if you think it is, she uses this as a plot device to reinforce her themes rather than a statement on the actual science of fertility. Children of Men is great, but it’s certainly not trying to convey the same themes and messaging as Handmaid is.
Thats because the infertility is just an excuse! It has always been about controlling the bodys of women and generally everybody. In my opinon the religion is not really important, its justification not more. Gilead to me is less like the islamic state and more like nazi germany. Its a facist neofeudal society.
Lydia is one of the most vile, evil, despicable fictional characters I've ever seen and the actor who plays her, Ann Dowd, is one of the kindest, warm, seemingly nicest people I've on talk shows. Watch a few interviews with her, her cheery personality will blow your mind!
I’m not sure where I heard it or read but I am pretty sure that the author of the book, Margaret Atwood, said that the book is not fictionalised but is based on things and oppressive systems that have already HAPPENED in the world
Lavanya yes that’s true. many say that she was alluding to the 1979 Iranian revolution when the shah was ousted and Ayatollah Khomeni took over and imposed extreme religion over the entire country. It’s pretty insane when you look at photos of places like Iran before and after the revolution

The Handmaid's Tale is based on what happened in Afghanistan when the United States gave power to the Taliban to chase Russia out of that country. Overnight the women of that country, which had stronger women representation than we do now, were delegated to property. Women found their bank accounts seized, they were punished if they spoke out. They had to paint their windows black and could only go outside with a male relative escorting them. This was allowed because this property went to those who profited from these actions. Try to imagine waking up one day and discovering you were now the property of your family and had no say in anything. Do you think you could do it? The women were publicly tortured if they did not fall into line.
Selale Z and 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran! They did hang the opposition leaders in the main squares and imposed uniforms and hijab for women. Even today there are no divorce or custody rights for Iranian women. Taking the husband name after mariage is mandatory. Abortion and sex before mariage is illegal and in some cases there are death penalty.

The quote that sums it all up: "N'oubliez jamais qu'il suffira d'une crise politique, économique ou religieuse pour que les droits des femmes soient remis en question. Margaret Atwood specifically said she would not include anything in the book that hasn't already happened in the recent past, or is currently happening. This show is so relatable for me, (even as a so called: 'educated, privileged, white, middle class female.') I feel it deeply represents women's experiences around the world right now.
What's fascinating is the colours of their uniforms symbolises who they are and their status. Red generally symbolises lust, strength, courage, desire and is believed to raise blood pressure and respiratory rate. Blue/green symbolises power, growth, fertility, loyalty and health. Fair play if this was done intentionally :)
The wives wear blue because of the Virgin Mary's robe, and the handmaids wear red because it's associated with the Magdalen and thus with sexuality. The thing I wonder is why they decided to go with such muted, depressed colors. In the book they were described as bright, so you could easily distinguish them from a distance.
it makes sense when they go to Canada. Even the "depressed" scenes are more vibrant. Vibrancy = freedom and choice. of particular notice is Serena Joy's greenhouse and the greenhouse in Canada (PS the 1990 movie had much more vivid colors)
Holy C**p - the way you started this video is TERRIFYING. I've watched that episode a few times now, but jumping right into the guts of that scene, with no foreshadowing or build up, gives it so much more punch. Damn, I've still got a shiver running through me.
And it is a women who started the movement in the book and in the show. Yes, it all snowballed and became what it became, but one outspoken female started it all. I find it ironic.
Many people have nowadays ideas like that but I don't see them become prevalent in western society. It doesn't take one individual but many other things
@@depressedcockroach4045 It may not be evident in today's Western Society, but if you go back as far as the 1930's Men Worked and Women didn't, as a rule. actually no....there's a scene that clearly depicts their position when Serena the commander's wife gives an order to aunt Lydia about the girls (before the dinner scene)
Can't believe I see some people in the comments genuinely caping for the commander or saying that the commander is oppressed too. The slave owner is not oppressed. Also amazing how people can take a look at the sexual exploitation of women here - and see it as a problem with 'gender'. They explicitly know which sex is usable as a 'national resource'. No matter what stripe of religion or wider culture. There is no guessing on the part of men. It has nothing to do with what women wear or say or do that makes them women. Men (and their Aunt Lydias) force gender because gender is the "how" of keeping women in line. Reproductive control is the "why". The Virgin Birth, foot binding, you name it. Same end, different means.
Thank you for this video. It really outlines the issues for freedom for women and men. Only a few of the men benefit, but many do not. Everyday women's rights are so very tenuous regardless of political climate. It's an uphill battle for all of us. We need to do it together. I feel that The Handmaid's Tale is so impactful because it's so real. It could and has happened already. We need to raise each other up, not push down. Keep up the good work!💜
I think the worst thing they ever did in this show was to Emily. It's the equivalent of surgically removing a mans penis but NO ONE ever talks about it. It makes my stomach turn. Every time I see her on screen I think about it.

Men should be worried not only for women but for themselves too. I appreciate that the book and series is careful to highlight that everyone but the very top in power lose all their rights and are subject to being murdered for the most arbitrary of reasons. And then hung up as a grisly display to those who consider rebelling. Everybody's loses in a society like Gilead.
I conpletely understand that ecertone suffers under the .02% population. Children suffer by reprogramming and traumatized from being separated from their parents. Men killed on spot or sent to colonies if they arent already apart of the belief or willing to adapt to their regime. But the women and children has the horrid result of the loss of the war to freedom in this story. Women are raped monthly and even without the wives attention, manipulating and abusing their power for their lust. Being beaten for even rolling their eyes. The taking of their oen birth names both women and children in sure. Stripping them and piercing their ears like cattle. Having to bond with someonr but fear of speaking the truth of their pain. To be seen not heard Mrs. Waterford was a knowledgeable woman. Strong and full of drive.. She ended up following her husband. Giving up her dreams. And because she has no control over 99 percent of her life... She abuses and neglects her handmaids. Treating them as less than a dog themselves. Wives are the worst for even agreeing to the treatment of Handlmaids. Ugh! I was disgusted and wanting to punch every man in this story even Offreds husband. I rooted for him til i find out how they got together anf how he handled it.

But at the end of the novel, that takes place in the future during a conference (given by men scholars), it is stated that with the systematic repression of little acts of rebellion, Gilead was "dangerously" lacking Handmaids, so they decided to declare all marriages prior to the regime's rise to power illegal, and at that moment Econowives could become Handmaids. ^^
Trump has been our president for a few years now, as a colored woman, I don’t feel one right taken away from me. But I see so much of the show in Muslim countries especially Saudi Arabia. They have many similar rules

It's so upsetting that people think they are actually entitled to such an act. The culture war will be won by a deeper logical compassion.
Benjamin J. Although women bear the brunt of the oppression on the abortion issue (even though it takes a man and woman to procreate) abortion is a complex issue. It’s not as simple as the anti-choice would like everyone to believe. There is a time and place for it as a medical procedure and it is best left up to the woman, the person, and her doctor to decide what is best for her, not the populist culture that oversimplifies everything.
Benjamin J. Um exactly and with that tone ur 100% part of the issue. Reproductive rights should not be controlled. It’s only a way for society to control women’s bodies.
There is such a strong parallel with the high control group, the Jehovah Witnesses. The show might be more extreme, but, this group is a close runner up!
That history has a mixture of real things. 1. Totalitarian regime: ideological and economical. Is a mixture of Cambodia (Gilian is described as a feudal economy, erasing evidence of technology, art, literature, depriving high education etc.. and the other similitude is: it was generated by a terrorist group) and North Korea regime (fanaticism, absolute control, false propaganda). 2. Religious Extremism : reminds the Sharia in the Muslim culture. (Muslim revolution). Also it reminds me the Inquisition. 3. Patriarchal society. Anyways that sounds sad.

Extremely late comment but all this makes me think about is what’s happening in Alabama and abortion, a majority of men voted against something that was once a woman’s right and I’m sure many (while they may not have explicitly said so) had religious reasonings for being against it. While it is a little extreme to call this the beginning of a similar situation happening, it could very well happen if we’re not careful.
Isn't it interessting, how the wifes get back a piece of power by using the hypocrisy of their husband? The hypocrisy that they could live the high standards of morality they demand from others, but using their power, to get every obscenity they ever dreamed of. It is so fascinating when he (Mr. Fred) realized it.
EVERYONE is under the boot in Giliad. Even Fred is being held down when being around his peers. Aunt Lydia has several moments of doubt and regret. Not one person (except the truly higher ups) seem to enjoy anything of whats going on. My only real complain about this show is that June has way too much plot amor at times. It's like they know she's the main character. She gets away with so much stuff all the time, while people around her gets their eyes taken out for saying ''fuck''. Everyone in Giliad is a two-faced bipolar mess. One scene is filled with compassion, hope and comfort and the very next is screaming and violence. They did a very good job of capturing the despair in all of these people. Also, Hollywood should take notes of June - THIS IS HOW YOU DO STRONG FEMALE CHARACTERS!! She has flaws, he makes mistakes, she's selfish, she's HUMAN and yet she prevails. Not because she's a super special and awesome woman but because she is a clever and strong person!
While it is true everyone except the very top is under the boot of gileas not all the oppression is made equal that’s what’s missed by a lot of people reading dystopic fiction their is a hierarchy to ensure there is never a majority who could rise against them

Margaret Atwood actually said in an interview that she did not put anything in her novel that hasent happend in real live. So it is not fiction, is real, someone has lived this in one form.
What I find frightening is if a population was faced with widespread infertility, there's no telling what they might resort to!!! You'd think they'd look to tackle the infertility issue with science but in this series, they chose theocracy. There are characteristics of The Handmaid's Tale in many cultures today: variations on slut shaming, female genital mutilation, patriarchy, honor killings, etc.
If all the Muslim men on here think that treating thier women with respect is part of Islam. Then why the hell do they cover them from head to toe in the burka. Wearing the niqab ? I live in London, and I've seen Muslim women dressed like this, they can't be all tourists from Saudi Arabia.
Holly Abb Is it real choice though? We all of us are influenced by the culture we live in. Just a girl in the west “chooses” to shave her legs because she’s been taught that it’s attractive and attractive = aspirational, a Muslim girl may “choose” to cover because she’s been taught it shows modesty and modesty = aspirational. We are all affected by the societal norms around us so its important we make those norms as fair as possible.
Let me help: • Placing restrictions on what health insurance can cover mostly in regards to women's reproductive rights • Actively making attempts and passing bills that limit Planned Parenthood • Changing the definition of domestic abuse to only fit behaviors that you could technically be prosecuted for and • Passing laws that discriminate against sex workers. Add to these his sexist tendencies and misogynistic remarks about the women he doesn't like (i.e. attacking Hillary's appearance and the infamous "grab them by the genitals" remark) and you get someone who's throwing America's progress backwards. We don't need to be made great again when we were on our way to being far better before he took office.
He wants to pads a bill that says that once you start having sex you can not revoke consent. Basically if you consent to have sex in the beginning of it you can’t revoke and tell the person to stop. And he wants to push abortion laws
That is entirely different. The Chinese Dynasty used concubines (glorified Prostitutes, who exclusively served the high status individual who owned them). The handmaid system of Gilead is quite different. A handmaid is not the property of the man of the house, she is state property, loaned to the household so that they can bear children, despite the wife's lack of fertility. By law, any sexual activity with a handmaid outside of the ceremony, is legally adultery in the handmaid system. In the concubine/harem system, there are no such restrictions, a concubine can be used sexually at her owner's will alone but any children born to her will not be considered legitimate. A child born of a handmaid bears the status of a child born to the husband and wife within the household, and has no relation to the handmaid following weaning.

The handmaids tale is reality for many people worldwide, and it is also what we do to non human animals on a daily basis. Especially 'dairy' cows. They also alwasy lose their children and are also 'discarded' if they are no longer productive.
iman You sound so stupid. You think it's hatred of Muslims to point out real, present problems with sharia law, ESPECIALLY in the creepily close form of sharia that Saudi Arabia takes (the handmaid's always have to be guarded by someone, can't drive, have to cover up, men own the women)? Don't you think problems that are literally happening today are a little more pressing than what's in Christian scripture? The Bible has awful parts in it but don't you care more about the real women being hurt in Sharia Law countries more than words on a page?
Snake ..what Snake said. For the love of Bacon, why are women still being oppressed by the belief in mythology? I know, I am pissing into the wind to hope that will go away..but it's really what it all boils down to.
Well, I see there not much reference to Christianity, there are no crosses, there is no Christ, he is also newer mentioned. Instead we hear quotes from old testament such from Genesis...
The more accurate correlation is Gilead and ISIS or Boko Haram. ISIS had sex slave markets. Boko Haram has full fledged slavery as well as kidnapped Christian girls for sex slavery/forced marriage.

(Reference 22, P. 168) Rothschild, a London Banker, wrote a letter saying "It (Central Bank ) gives the National Bank almost complete control of national finance. The few who understand the system will either be so interested in its profits, or so dependent on its favours, that there will be no opposition from that class... The great body of the people, mentally incapable of comprehending, will bear its burden without complaint, and perhaps without even suspecting that the system is inimical (contrary) to their interests." [The bankers created the legislation for the FED] In 1913, before the Senate Banking and Currency Committee, Mr. Alexander stated: "But the whole scheme of a Federal Reserve Bank with its commercial-paper basis is an impractical, cumbersome machinery, is simply a cover, to find a way to secure the privilege of issuing money and to evade payment of as much tax upon circulation as possible, and then control the issue and maintain, instead of reduce, interest rates. It is a system that, if inaugurated, will prove to the advantage of the few and the detriment of the people of the United States. It will mean continued shortage of actual money and further extension of credits; for when there is a lack of real money people have to borrow credit to their cost."
Dear American: Pursuant to your request, I will attempt to clear up questions you have about the Federal Reserve Bank (FED). I spent much time researching the FED and these are the shocking and revealing conclusions. THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANK IS A PRIVATE COMPANY. Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution states that Congress shall have the power to coin (create) money and regulate the value thereof. Today however, the FED, which is a privately owned company, controls and profits by printing money through the Treasury, and regulating its value. The FED began with approximately 300 people or banks that became owners (stockholders purchasing stock at $100 per share - the stock is not publicly traded) in the Federal Reserve Banking System. They make up an international banking cartel of wealth beyond comparison (Reference 1, 14). The FED banking system collects billions of dollars (Reference 8, 17) in interest annually and distributes the profits to its shareholders. The Congress illegally gave the FED the right to print money (through the Treasury) at no interest to the FED. The FED creates money from nothing, and loans it back to us through banks, and charges interest on our currency. The FED also buys Government debt with money printed on a printing press and charges U.S. taxpayers interest. Many Congressmen and Presidents say this is fraud (Reference 1,2,3,5,17). Who actually owns the Federal Reserve Central Banks? The ownership of the 12 Central banks, a very well kept secret, has been revealed: Rothschild Bank of London Warburg Bank of Hamburg Rothschild Bank of Berlin Lehman Brothers of New York Lazard Brothers of Paris Kuhn Loeb Bank of New York Israel Moses Seif Banks of Italy Goldman, Sachs of New York Warburg Bank of Amsterdam Chase Manhattan Bank of New York (Reference 14, P. 13, Reference 12, P. 152) These bankers are connected to London Banking Houses which ultimately control the FED. When England lost the Revolutionary War with America (our forefathers were fighting their own government), they planned to control us by controlling our banking system, the printing of our money, and our debt (Reference 4, 22). The individuals listed below owned banks which in turn owned shares in the FED. The banks listed below have significant control over the New York FED District, which controls the other 11 FED Districts. These banks also are partly foreign owned and control the New York FED District Bank. (Reference 22) First National Bank of New York James Stillman National City Bank, New York Mary W. Baker (Reference 4 for above, Reference 22 has details, P. 92, 93, 96, 179) How did it happen? After previous attempts to push the Federal Reserve Act through Congress, a group of bankers funded and staffed Woodrow Wilson's campaign for President. He had committed to sign this act. In 1913, a Senator, Nelson Aldrich, maternal grandfather to the Rockefellers, pushed the Federal Reserve Act through Congress just before Christmas when much of Congress was on vacation (Reference 3, 4, 5). When elected, Wilson passed the FED. Later, Wilson remorsefully replied (referring to the FED), "I have unwittingly ruined my country" (Reference 17, P. 31). Now the banks financially back sympathetic candidates. Not surprisingly, most of these candidates are elected (Reference 1, P. 208-210, Reference 12, P. 235, Reference 14, P. 36). The bankers employ members of the Congress on weekends (nickname T&T club -out Thursday...-in Tuesday) with lucrative salaries (Reference 1, P. 209). Additionally, the FED started buying up the media in the 1930's and now owns or significantly influences most of it (Reference 3, 10, 11, P. 145). Presidents Lincoln, Jackson, and Kennedy tried to stop this family of bankers by printing U.S. dollars without charging the taxpayers interest (Reference 4). Today, if the government runs a deficit, the FED prints dollars through the U.S. Treasury, buys the debt, and the dollars are circulated into the economy. In 1992, taxpayers paid the FED banking system $286 billion in interest on debt the FED purchased by printing money virtually cost free (Reference 12, P. 265). Forty percent of our personal federal income taxes goes to pay this interest. The FED's books are not open to the public. Congress has yet to audit it. Congressman Wright Patman was Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Banking and Currency for 40 years. For 20 of those years, he introduced legislation to repeal the Federal Reserve Banking Act of 1913. Congressman Henry Gonzales, Chairman of a banking committee, introduces legislation to repeal the Federal Reserve Banking Act of 1913 nearly every year. It's always defeated, the media remains silent, and the public never learns the truth. The same bankers who own the FED control the media and give huge political contributions to sympathetic members of Congress (Reference 12, P. 155-163, Reference 22, P. 158, 159, 166). THE FED FEARS THE POPULATION WILL BECOME AWARE OF THIS FRAUD AND DEMAND CHANGE. We, the People, are at fault for being passive and allowing this to continue. continued
@Diana OG So you don't want to know who has taken over the world with their fascist corporations that Ralph Nader and others have been talking about for a long, long time? Before Hitler took over, people thought everything was just fine. And yes, the Christ within us needs to say something, not be quiet or subdued. That being said, there are 7,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 spinning atoms that people consist of. Each one consists of protons and neutrons and electrons. Protons and neutrons consist of 3 points of light spinning at high rates of speed. The electron consists of 1 point of light spinning/vibrating at a high rate of speed. People consist totally 100% as spinning, vibrating light. That is it. There is nothing solid, physical, material, or mass anywhere at any time. This is the information people need to know to heal themselves of the belief in death. The belief in death is why there are wars and prisons and racism to begin with.
A Trump supporting congressman just proposed a law that would give women the death penalty for having an abortion. Trumps hate speech brings his awful supporters crawling out of the woodwork like cockroaches.
Trump is being courted by the Evangelical right because he is useful to them, a necessary evil, if you will. Arrogant and obstreperous, he’s very high-profile and can attract the masses in a way few ever could. He may be the marquee “conservative” now, but as soon as he expended his usefulness to the Christian Right, his political career is over.
How is this an analysis? Anyone that watched it already knows everything in this video, and everyone who didn't watch it should watch the series instead. I don't see any analysis of visual language, apart from the colors of clothes, or anything of value besides that. Also dragging Trump into this, as if this is the future he wants, is cheap and shows how you are unaware of the world where societies very much alike this actually exist. Trump is a ridiculous president, but nothing like what some people portray him as.
Dude. This is a gentler version of how women are forced to live under Islam. American women in America? Not even close! What the hell do you think is going on over here?!
I watched Season 1. Season 2 began with the simulated mass hanging designed to terrorize the women into submission. Staging the mock hanging inside Fenway Park went too far for me. I'm from Boston and Fenway Park is sacred ground and I found it in bad taste and very disturbing.
I feel like people who compare Gilead to the modern US just didn’t even read the book/ watch the show. Or they’re extremely exaggerating. To me I think the book still serves as a good warning but if anything it’s almost a bit outdated now. The main thing that caused the fall of the US to go so smoothly was lack of communication and information. With everyone having the Internet in their pocket now I feel like we’d be able to rise up and stop the hostile takeover, or hell contact other countries about it before it’s too late. If people actually knew what the hell was going on early on they’d at least form a better resistance group before the caste system was put in place.
America's Bible belt is Gilead. It may not be passed as law and enforced on all but those unfortunate enough to be trapped in these religions are feeling it.
I can see why critics draw parallels between Gilead and the modern US. But in my opinion, the regime's strict control over the use of language, i.e what one may say, and how they say it, bears more respemlance in my mind to the European Left. The show is essentially portraying state enforced Political Correctness.
It’s actually implied that the men are infertile, not the women, especially the men from the military class who were exposed to chemicals. They are the source of the problem, but lower class men aren’t considered for the rituals and women are blamed as a matter of course.
Especially in the books. Where some of the wives set up handmaidens with lower class men and we always see those women get pregnant
Thats is correct. The doctor even says in the show "Most of those men are sterile."
Lola Montez yikes, okay. You’re clearly stuck on ideology here that no discussion will pry you away from.
Thats because the infertility is just an excuse! It has always been about controlling the bodys of women and generally everybody.
In my opinon the religion is not really important, its justification not more. Gilead to me is less like the islamic state and more like nazi germany. Its a facist neofeudal society.

Margaret Atwood specifically said she would not include anything in the book that hasn't already happened in the recent past, or is currently happening. This show is so relatable for me, (even as a so called: 'educated, privileged, white, middle class female.')
I feel it deeply represents women's experiences around the world right now.
Melanie Willard I like symbolism :)
lol
Me too! I really like the costume designs and the very slight changes they've made in this series compared to the book.
Vibrancy = freedom and choice.
of particular notice is Serena Joy's greenhouse and the greenhouse in Canada
(PS the 1990 movie had much more vivid colors)
It's rape..not sex...
This is so scary and now realize it’s happening in some countries today. Scary af it’s not just a show it’s reality

And now it's happening to America
They always say the wives wear blue! It's always looked green to me!
They wore blue in the book and the film and teal in the TV series.
Officially, the costume designer has stated the colour is teal
It's tail.
Looks green to me
OMFG I thought I was going colourblind when he said blue.
It is going on at the moment. Women living under Islamic State have had most of these things happen to them.
Don't forget AMERICA and her Christian fundamentalists. Stop pointing fingers at Muslims when the West is no better.
It only needs one person to start
And that's why women who are brainwashed by male dominated religions and societies are a great danger. Willing participants in their own oppression.
Many people have nowadays ideas like that but I don't see them become prevalent in western society. It doesn't take one individual but many other things
@@depressedcockroach4045 It may not be evident in today's Western Society, but if you go back as far as the 1930's Men Worked and Women didn't, as a rule. Both WW1 and WW2 improved their positions, as they were expected to do Mens Work in the Factories and Fields.........I wasn't all that long ago really, in the scheme of things, where men had the right to assault Women to Chastise them.......The Hand-Maid's Tale is only a Slip and a Stumble away from Reality, even today, in Muslim Countries with Fundamentalist Regimes....Stoning, Hanging for adultery or LGBT reasons.....NOT so far away at all.

actually no....there's a scene that clearly depicts their position when Serena the commander's wife gives an order to aunt Lydia about the girls (before the dinner scene)
Once you read testaments you realize the Aunts are slaves as well.

@@semi2893True. The Canadian doctor told Emily she could have reconstructive surgery for what they did to her, but you can’t reconstruct a non-existent eye.
I wouldn't just be scared for the women. Clearly unless you are an elite, the men also suffer loss of rights and identity.
Masticatious What levels are you talking about?

But where are they in the rankings, out of curiosity? Probably just above a Martha? But above or below a handmaid? They're kind of a non-person, really. If they are fertile, chances are Gilead would find a way to put them into "service".
@@DenaInWyo If I remember well, the econowives are just above Marthas, because they are married and potentially fertile. However, since they ARE married, they cannot be taken away from their husband, and therefore, cannot become Handmaids, who were chosen as a way to "redeem" themselves from their past "lust" (remarriage, children outside of wedlock, homosexuality, etc...). ^^

Benjamin J. That’s such an ignorant thing to say. No protection is 100% safe, plus there are women that are raped.

You say orange man bad but where is the receipt that prove that where are woman losing their rights?
Can someone tell me what rights women have lost in the trump administration? I'm honestly confused about that.
Let me help:
• Placing restrictions on what health insurance can cover mostly in regards to women's reproductive rights
• Actively making attempts and passing bills that limit Planned Parenthood
• Changing the definition of domestic abuse to only fit behaviors that you could technically be prosecuted for and
• Passing laws that discriminate against sex workers.
Betsy de Vos changed how male college students can be protected from rape charges
He wants to pads a bill that says that once you start having sex you can not revoke consent. Basically if you consent to have sex in the beginning of it you can’t revoke and tell the person to stop. And he wants to push abortion laws
.None..........The parallels are their delusion........

Teal blue-green.
The Chinese Ruling Dynasty did this before this Handmaiden Tale book,
its a modern tale/version of the Harem system.

QiQi I live in Indonesia which we have biggest Muslim population in the world but don't apply sharia law. That kind of laws do not apply here. Also, I choose to wear headscarf by my own choice. Sorry that media shows you Islam's image that bad. LOL
I hope that June can rally enough women to take a collective flamethrower to the Commanders and overthrow them. Damn, this show is good.
This show is an excellent reminder to not give up your guns to the government. Bad things like this have and CAN happen again. This is why you need a well armed population ready to form militias if a government or shadow government ever tries to pull something remotely similar to this.
This sentence best describes the 'The Handmaids' Tale' is 'This episode is more FUCKED up than the last.' Is my opinion but i love the show.
Great content, keep it up! 💐
The handmaids tale is reality for many people worldwide, and it is also what we do to non human animals on a daily basis. Especially 'dairy' cows. They also alwasy lose their children and are also 'discarded' if they are no longer productive.

I’m in love with this series! I guess I’m addicted to pain 😬
Women naturally crave a submissive position, its hardwired in after millenia of evolution.
everyone keeps saying “sharia law” or “Saudi Arabia” but the whole regime is based of Christian values just say you hate Muslims and go
Islam is somewhat borrowed from Christianity too. Muslim counties have so many similar laws like this show
iman You sound so stupid.
I hate all abrahamic religions equally

It reminds me of the slave trade. The loss of identity, servitude, loss of language, uniforms, restricted education and speech... In this country it went on in some shape or form, for hundreds of years. Still, the nation has learned nothing. Tyranny is a cancer. This country was built on tyranny, and unfortunately we refuse to cut it out and irradiate it.
This is our future

Honest question: How have women's rights been eroded under Trump? I get that the guy is an ass, but what policies or legislation has he gone after to oppress women? I think I'm missing something important.
Fiction often mirrors reality and I'll never not see the gross irony of the men who choose to hate and oppress the gender that birthed them. We are not brood mares, we are life givers.

Our country likes to thank our forefathers for the Constitution.
I wish to thank Mr. Lou Gamboa for his research of the Constitution and our banking system. Lou Gamboa is a national speaker on the subject, and has spoken on numerous radio programs in an effort to educate the public. Lou is a Republican Committeeman and Treasurer of Taxpayers of Illinois.
I also want to thank Bob Corcoran for his research and encouragement.
I applaud the thousands of patriotic Americans who are spreading the word so we can live in economic prosperity and uphold our Constitutional rights.
ARTICLE 1, SECTION 8 OF THE CONSTITUTION STATES THAT CONGRESS SHALL HAVE THE POWER TO COIN (CREATE) MONEY AND REGULATE THE VALUE THEREOF.
IN 1935 THE SUPREME COURT RULED THAT CONGRESS CANNOT CONSTITUTIONALLY DELEGATE ITS POWER TO ANOTHER GROUP. (Reference 22, P. 168)
Rothschild, a London Banker, wrote a letter saying "It (Central Bank ) gives the National Bank almost complete control of national finance. The few who understand the system will either be so interested in its profits, or so dependent on its favours, that there will be no opposition from that class... The great body of the people, mentally incapable of comprehending, will bear its burden without complaint, and perhaps without even suspecting that the system is inimical (contrary) to their interests." [The bankers created the legislation for the FED]
In 1913, before the Senate Banking and Currency Committee, Mr.
Dear American:
Pursuant to your request, I will attempt to clear up questions you have about the Federal Reserve Bank (FED).
The ownership of the 12 Central banks, a very well kept secret, has been revealed:
Rothschild Bank of London
Warburg Bank of Hamburg
Rothschild Bank of Berlin
Lehman Brothers of New York
Lazard Brothers of Paris
Kuhn Loeb Bank of New York
Israel Moses Seif Banks of Italy
Goldman, Sachs of New York
Warburg Bank of Amsterdam
Chase Manhattan Bank of New York
(Reference 14, P. 13, Reference 12, P. 152)
These bankers are connected to London Banking Houses which ultimately control the FED.

How did it happen? 209). Additionally, the FED started buying up the media in the 1930's and now owns or significantly influences most of it
(Reference 3, 10, 11, P.

The show is essentially portraying state enforced Political Correctness.
excellent analysis !
