Very nice! I’m getting ready to paint the motor for my 79 basket case project. We don’t have that brand of paint over here in the US, but I am going to try a rust oleum engine paint from the local auto parts store. Besides a thorough cleaning, did you sand or apply primer before painting? Also, do you plan to apply a clearcoat?

I've had good results using Rustoleum products before. The Motip paint I use doesn't need a clearcoat. I washed the engine off with kerosene and then wiped it all over with brake cleaner. I removed any loose paint before spraying but I didn't worry about rubbing the rest of it down. I did a similar thing to my SRX engine 12 months ago and it still looks great, although I don't ride it in the wet. Good luck with your project!

Hi and thanks for watching! You've caught up with current progress on the GL1000. I should be back on it after Christmas and uploading more content then. Make sure you subscribe to the channel and then you'll get notifications when there is new content :-)

Great to see another video from you on this bike! Do you find this silver paint a good match to the original Honda colour? My engine has far more 'patina' than yours but it's in the frame so painting the top is not so easy even though I've removed the rad and fan, carbs, and fuel tank.

Yes it seems spot on to me!
