Why would you ever need to replace REAR brake pads? I have NEVER worn out a set of rear brake pads on any of my road-going motorcycles. Were you using the rear brake while in motion?

Some deep scoring in that disc rotor dude. I would have replaced that along with the new pads.
you can just pull the center keeper pin and clip to change the pads, you don't have to remove the entire caliper.
But then you'd probably need a proper spreader to push the pistons back.
