I haven’t been watching your channel much in the last couple of years because my senior rabbit passed away in 2022 and I just couldn’t deal. He had a tooth that had to be filed down because he couldn’t eat and he passed from the anesthesia, so I completely understand not wanting to risk Lennon being put under. He was a little over nine years old, and I miss him so much. It’s hard to watch any senior bunnies because they all remind me of him now, but I made myself watch this because I wanted to see how Lennon was doing. My bunny was always sickly, but he still had a lot of vigor and happiness, just like Lennon. I’m so glad to see she’s still active, just a bit slower, which is understandable. And I love that you’ve always taken such wonderful care of her. She’s such a sweet, beautiful soul. Rabbits are amazing, and I’m so thankful that your channel exists and you and Lennon are showing people what life with a senior bunny can be like. It’s hard to watch them get older, but Lennon still seems happy and healthy, and I’m so glad to see it. I hope she can keep her weight up, and continues to live a happy, wonderful life with you for years to come. ♥️♥️

So sorry for your loss. I trust the Vet used a special protocol for older rabbits; they can't use the same as they do for younger ones when administering anesthesia.

@@newtonmoon Thank you. ♥️ The vet we used was a rabbit savvy vet who has rabbits of her own, and she adored Icky. So he was in good hands. But he’d been sick off and on since he was a baby, and looking back now that I have a healthy bunny (Icky was my first, so we learned a lot from him), we were lucky and blessed to have him for nine years. He was always having weird medical issues - he was literally neutered twice, long story - so I think it was just terrible luck. Although that hasn’t stopped me from going over and over and over everything in my head every day, wishing we’d done something different so he was still here. 💔 Anyway, sorry to ramble at you. Thank you for your kind words.

Lennon reminds me of my sweetheart that passed away just under 2 months ago. She was a 9yr old bun and she was always so spunky while still being an absolute baby and she loved to follow me around the room. She did develop arthritis but she didn't let it stop her and didn't mind too much when it came to taking medicam every so often. Sadly we lost her to what was suspected to be the horrible c in June, about a month after she turned 9..
Now I have 2 3 month old buns, one of them acts exactly as she did too. So glad I opened my heart to these sweethearts

I suddenly went to a job where there was another rabbit owner. What a happy coincidence. 😊 I do have 4 rabbits (because 1. "female" friend I bought to my male...was male too😅) because I couldn't give away either of my boys (obviously don't get along) and then I had to buy 2 females. Now there are so many bunnies given away, but then I had to drive 2 hours to find another female. One I could buy nearby. My bunnies are soon 6(males) and 5/4 females. They are out of their room separately. Hopefully they live many years. I know it's not ideal, but they can freerom part of the day. Otherwise there will be fighting. Old kids room have new utility. 😊 This knowledge about bunnies may increase bunny owners so you will someday have that same nice coincidence that I have had. Bunnies are so smart, can use cat-toilet and give a paw like dogs.😂 Great mix. ❤

When my senior rabbit started having accidents my vet advised to get him a much lower litter box entrance so i kinda rigged a box with a half inch rim and that fixed it so he could jump in and out. Maybe try that.
He's a 10 year old lion head dwawf so he's outlived the predictions for their breed by a good couple of years. He's on daily meds for pain and arthritis plus also eye drops plus his back legs don't work very well. He falls over occasionally.. i know his time will be coming eventually but as long as he's still eating, drinking and snuggling/teeth chattering with me it's not yet!

I’m 63 & have 6 bunnies & the same thumb pain & quite sharp, certainly noticeable pain in that general hand area you described. Figured it was from scrolling on my phone, but most likely from when holding my phone when viewing info/ videos. Weight & angle & frequency?
I’m applying organic hexane free castor oil on the area.
Castor oil has solved numbers of pain problems for me before now; especially in my knee that was very painful. Placed a castor oil pack there & secured it for a few days & nights. Worked wonderfully well…& prayer of course. Pain free after a few days. I’m happy & all these new bunnies & our beautiful Spring weather here in Oz is making me happy.

Actually, I think this is amazing territory to be in. I don't know if I can explain it very well. But life expectancy and quality of life is increasing. What is true for humans, is also true for our pets. When we humans age, we don't just give up. We find ways to thrive as an older person. This must also be true for our pets. I always think that our pets represent humanity in miniature. Every day is precious. Every day is another day to live with everything that can be achieved.

She'd had respiratory issues for about two years and had the common holland lop hip problems that led to back extremity paralysis and incontinence. She was a trooper through it all. Her HusBun is a bit younger than her and has been without her for over two years. Lennox is a lion head and will be 11 in November. He's slowed down a bit, but hasn't had any major health problems. The people involved in the rabbit world are some of the best you could imagine and become like a second family. We love you and Lennon. How did she get her name ? I’m a lifelong Beatle Maniac and John Lennon was my music hero. I was drawn to your channel by her name . I wish you and Lennon the very best. ❤️🐰🐇😃

Hey Lorelei, I just started watching your videos around last week or so. Yes, I'm late to the party xD. I have a quick question regarding Lennon the Bunny. What breed is she? I'm pretty sure my bun is a mix breed of Polish and Silver Fox. He's a black bunny which was completely overlooked despite him being 2 months old when I got him. I'm not exactly sure what his breed is, so him being a polish silver fox mix is literally just a hunch based off of the photos I researched. Also, is there any way to tell what the breed is when my bunny just looks like 2 different breeds? xD.
Anyway, I'm glad to see that Lennon is doing pretty well under your care despite her age. Senior rabbits are adorable, and Lennon is nothing short of that. I know this may seem like an invasive question, but I was wondering if you considered getting another bun? Again, I don't mean to be invasive, or offensive, I'm just genuinely curious to know whether or not you're going to get another bun like Lennon II or Lennon jr. to continue her legacy on your channel? Knock on wood I'm obviously not hoping for such things to happen so soon, as I hope she lives up to 15 years in total if not more

Mine will be 10 years old shortly as well!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Yes, she started having potty accidents for the first time about 1 year ago. We changed up her litter box area and the vet put her on low dose daily pain med because her arthritis was causing most of the toileting issues. ( They need more space as they age because they can't bend and turn to do all their usual litterbox habits). And yes, we have to do some bunny bottom cleaning as well to help her. She only jumps up on chairs or my couch which are in carpeted areas so we have added carpet runners and small rugs for her all over on our slick floors and this has helped a lot to keep her getting around our house. We have nick named her Lily Pad as she likes to leap from one rug to another!! We have added extra pellets to her diet as well because her appetite has waned so much.
She has been a companion care animal for me so I am not ready for what comes next eventually.....the last rabbit, my first one, nearly killed me when he died at almost 10 too! I literally lost most all of my memory of him until I got her. I am struggling with handling her eventual coming loss right now. Having alot of breakdowns. We live in the mountains with no friends and I have a major illness that is taking over now so I will not be able to get another bunny...and I just don't want to accept that but it is what it is. Just trying to love every minute with her now!!
    🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Congratulations on all your beautiful years with Lennon!

I think it's difficult to bond two rabbits. Sometimes they are better off alone with their owner. Lorelei is working from home, so Lennon is seldom alone. She opens up to us about difficult topics, and doesn't deserve comments like that, at the end of Lennons life. Research holistic remedies "Ayurveda" ( Indian holistic practice) I am certain you have a handful of practices in your big city. I love to see the lovely Lennon, she is a precious bunny and so well-behaved. I can tell she really loves and trusts you. It's cute how you have her do little exercises. What a great idea. We have Lady Cottontail and Little Amanda (guinea piggy) both on pet insurance, they are young but I know what it costs to not have pet insurance $$$ Nationwide pet insurance under Exotic animals for anyone interested.
I'm the one who wrote about Lady Cottontail hopping onto our property (she was abandoned) white bunny filthy, skin and bones, and ear mite infestation 09-07-22.
The same thing happened with Lil Amanda, she was abandoned and she found her way to our property, her sibling or mother didn't make it but she did. Now they are both treated like royalty, all my queens are that live in my Chateau with me.
Thank you Lorelei for educating me on how to be a good bunny Dad to a free-roaming little white fur queen. There is never a dull moment. We laugh every single day. We moved from the Bay Area, CA to a 3-acre mountain property so Lady C has plenty of room to roam inside.
Both my furry girls are spoiled, I call it love. They are both on our exotic pet insurance and very healthy and happy....and they both well all three of my girls have daddy wrapped around their furry pal and a small petite human finger (wifey)

Usually third eyelids are only visible in sickness…..if you can get a vet check it might help her. My rabbit Monty was 10 and had developed a tumour on her third eyelid. Weight loss is always a huge concern. Blood work would show up any issues. Monty used to get so comfortable with her Daddy she used to poop on him because she was so comfy and didn’t want to move.

We have had Luna for about 5 years now, but we think she is about 7. She has definitely slowed down. She still hops on the couch sometimes, but she has arthritis and is definitely stiff, despite us increasing her Meloxicam dose. She hops around a little but then mostly lays down. I am trying to figure out how to make her more comfortable. She has been peeing outside of the litterbox a lot since later last year (even before we got our second rabbit)--we are trying to control her arthritis, checked for underlying health issues (e.g., UTI, sludge), and have a very low litterbox--nothing helps. I am a kind of at my wits end with the peeing/pooping outside the box, but I am not sure what to do. She is literally at the vet every other month at least for her teeth, which have been misaligned since late March and need regular filing. It's just a lot of age-related things hitting at once over the past year and a half or so, and I'm really worried about how much time we have left with her some days.

Had the experience once, nearly a year ago now and she had slowed a bit in terms of the things mentioned about jumping up and having accidents.
Thankfully her sister from the same litter shows none of that and if anything is still fitter and livlier than the young bunboy companion she now has. Weird I figured buns wouldn't recognise age but they definitely seem to have developed a mother-son bond rather than husbun and wife 😂
