I love this!! I just started making resin pendants, and I have about a thousand pendants and no clue what to make with them. You've inspired me to do this, and make bake & bend molds, which also work with resin! I also use a lot of silicone molds, theyre so easy, no mold release necessary. I just use diamond glaze to make them shiny, the results are amazing!
Hi Donna, Dry Tempera can be purchased in the kids art section of any art or craft store. Typically you mix the powdered tempera with water to create paint for children but you can mix it into resin to color it as well. The molds are Castin Craft brand and I bought them on line at Blick Art Materials. For the cards I used cheap Georgia Pacific cardstock available at walmart, it says #110 but it feels thinner, more like 80#.
Hi Miriam, Dry Tempera is an art supply for children, typically schools buy it and they mix it with water to make paint. It is cheaper to buy this than liquid tempera and a container makes a lot! Look in the children's painting supply aisle at your local craft sore or try Mister Art online where it is $3.54 a pound. I got mine at a discount store for $1 a pound. It is a great product for kids and crafts!
I just love the name you came up with for those earrings!!! Cosmos- it's just to cool!!! I also dig the idea of using the Dry Tempera for coloring the resin!!! Sensational idea!!! I see you used the Castin Craft brand of molds!! I got mine from Blick too!!! I love them!!! I tried using Armour All car spray as a mold release and it worked perfectly!!! You are a true joy to watch!! You are so upbeat and fun I always look forward to your videos!!! Keep up the great work!!!
I'm sure you can. My studio is getting cold so I'm not sure how many more resin projects I'll be able to do this year but you can treat the eye shadow (loose powder preferably) just like you would using pearl-ex. If you look on youtube for resin and pearl-ex projects it will show you what to do:)
did you use mold release? I even use it on silicone because they say it will make the molds last longer, that said I'm pretty sure it is just glycerin and water:)
Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I love the metallic look the tempera ads to the earrings it adds a little bit of sophistication to the glitter, a material that can easily look too juvenile! I've subscribed to see what other wonderful ideas and twists you have...
Love it is there a way to put that on hair clips in a way it's permanent? I like also fancy hair peaces with dangles the shinier the better. Thank U much for ur tutorials
I love the earrings, I also noticed you have a butterfly on show. Is there a mould for it? If so could to tell me where you got the mould. I have been looking for a bigger butterfly mould for a while.
Hi Lyndsey, I enjoyed the video and you had some beautiful sparkly results...just wondered where and what the powdered metallic dry paint is and where it comes from?
Love both ideas! More resin crafts .. ill check your channel but i have a huge bottle of resin and no ideas. I always love watching your tuts as your cheerful and the projects are shown in a way we can follow. Thank you .. :)
You need resin (get epoxy resin if you are a beginner), molds (the one I used is from Castin' Craft) and glitter to make the charms. Then to turn them into earrings you need wire and earring findings. Be sure to pour the resin outside or in a very well ventilated area because you do not want to breath the fumes. Good luck!
hi my name is Angela Brooks, and I loved your video, however I'm very new to resin, and after seeing your video I'm inspired. could you tell me where can purchase resin and the other materials i need to get started
+Angela Brooks I got mine at ACmoore but Hobby Lobby has them too. You can probably find them at Micheals as well. Resin Obsession is a good choice for online ordering and they have a lot of tutorials and tips. They know much more than I do LOL!
+thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich Can you tell us what type of resin you are using? (I never used it before, but when searching, i found there are many different types of resin. Or maybe the type of resin gets lost in translation??)
Hello - I'm new to Resin and molding and will be trying my 1st go round this weekend. I wanted to know when you do the glitter behind the mold do you add more resin then the glitter or do I need to put the glitter directly in my resin like the dye? I only wait 1 hour then add the backing correct?
I popped some out, it was a little tricky. I made some more flat molds, which were annoying, but they popped out okay. Then I made some deep ones, like a sphere and a pea pod, they were too deep, had to cut them out. But flatter molds work!
I used a 50% off coupon at ACmoore but Blick Art Materials also has it at a good price. You can use any kind of resin but I use Castin Craft Polyester resin.
Wow I just love these they are so very pretty. one question where did you the moulds from that you used to make the earing you did not list them in your description so I am guessing you did not get them from papermart?
Thank you for such a quick reply I checked dick blick but sadly they do not have that particular mold on their site but I just might try one or 2 other of their molds depending on the shipping cost to Canada that is always the kicker lol Anyways Thank you for you time take care. Mary Katherine
I've been unable to find the dry tempera your using. what I did find came in different colors and cost quite a bit. I have never heard of this before, could you please explain what it is and where I can buy it. Thank you very much
Thank you so much for writing me back, do you know of any places where I can buy molds for cheap because I have been looking and they have been 10 dollars and up? COOL EARRINGS:)
I think the mold was under $5 at blick that I used in the video, Hobby Lobby had the Castin Craft molds from $3.50-$6 and resin obsession seems to have good prices as well.
UV resin you just put into your mold and put under a UV lamp or outside on a sunny day. 2 part resin you mix part A and art B well, do your desired project then let cure overnight.
Wow, I love this idea. I love making earrings out of beads and findings, but I never thought I could do resin. Where did you buy your supplies at?? I really want to try this out now.
I used 24 gauge silver wire and wrapped it around the earring then twisted the ends together in the back, then I pulled the excess wire to the top and made a wrapped loop to attach to the earwires.
I got it locally at acmoore with a coupon but Blick art materials has a great price online:) I used polyester resin by Casin' Craft but epoxy resin would also work:)
thanks! This is my first resin tutorial video (other then the resin 101 but I don't make anything) but I have other project ideas on my blog (link above) and I have a resin idea board on pintrest if you want to follow me:)
Hi Lindsay, I am a subscriber to your channel love your Sat chats! And I follow you on Instagram. I am by heart a paper crafter and I live that you have done a few cards lately. I am beginning to get into resin UV and the part A & B you mix I did invest in an industrial mask even though everything I use I try to make sure has low chemical smell due to my asthma the one I currently use I can't smell anything even when not wearing a mask ! Still I'm trying to be safe!!! but my question can you do an updated video on resin?
Hi Cassie, moisture affects the resin so I would not use much wet paint, a drop is OK though, I've used acrylic and it worked but it took a bit longer to cure.
OMGosh, I'm so glad you have calmed down some in your latest videos. Your intro almost made me stop watching. But I do love your perfectionism be damned attitude. It's something I appreciate and am trying to learn from you. This is actually something I might wear, only I think I'd use mostly mica powders and use a hint of glitter. I prefer my glitter on my cards and other craft projects. I need that silicone mold and the mold you used for the warm colored examples! Fun earring display idea too! TFS!
If you use little windows resin it is great for this kind of project and has absolutely no odor. It is also not going to yellow over time. I swear I don't work for them. I am just a happy customer.
I love this!! I just started making resin pendants, and I have about a thousand pendants and no clue what to make with them. You've inspired me to do this, and make bake & bend molds, which also work with resin!

Awesome video. Ive had success with clear nail polish making the resin shiny again if it is dull.
Very pretty. Are you just about ready for your craft fair with all the beautiful things you have been making?
I just love the name you came up with for those earrings!!! Cosmos- it's just to cool!!! I also dig the idea of using the Dry Tempera for coloring the resin!!! Sensational idea!!! Awesome, I made some molds with bake and best and I was not sure if I could use resin, I'll try it now!
Hey Lindsay I love the work you do your very gifted and talented.
Thank you very much for sharing beautiful display art.
Hi this is awesome video, great learning opportunity.. how would you wrap wire for the square ear rings??...thanks for sharing..
How long have you had the nail polish coated resin? Does it get sticky after a time? 6 months or so? Thanks for your info:)
I'm sure you can. My studio is getting cold so I'm not sure how many more resin projects I'll be able to do this year but you can treat the eye shadow (loose powder preferably) just like you would using pearl-ex. If you look on youtube for resin and pearl-ex projects it will show you what to do:)

I keep a container of baby wipes and clean my hands with wipes when I get resin on them. It works very well for me. :)
Love it is there a way to put that on hair clips in a way it's permanent? I like also fancy hair peaces with dangles the shinier the better. Thank U much for ur tutorials
These look amazing. Love them. Great tutorial. Thanks for sharing,
Very beautiful. Where do you find the epoxy sheets?
I love the earrings, I also noticed you have a butterfly on show. Is there a mould for it? If so could to tell me where you got the mould. I have been looking for a bigger butterfly mould for a while.
That was a Martha Stewart mold.
Hi Lyndsey, I enjoyed the video and you had some beautiful sparkly results...just wondered where and what the powdered metallic dry paint is and where it comes from?

Let the resin harden and leave the stir stick in and pop out the mess when it is dry:) Love applesauce cups! Why pay big bucks for mixing cups?
Hey Lindsay!!! I found quite a selection of molds on Amazon....GREAT prices!! Thanks again for you AMAZING inspiration.....luv ya lynda a.
hi my name is Angela Brooks, and I loved your video, however I'm very new to resin, and after seeing your video I'm inspired. could you tell me where can purchase resin and the other materials i need to get started

Kami Dodson-Perry you can add the glitter after, that way you can control where t goes:) I add it after.
Ok thanks

How do you clean your resin mixing cups or are they not reusable?
I used a 50% off coupon at ACmoore but Blick Art Materials also has it at a good price. You can use any kind of resin but I use Castin Craft Polyester resin.
Baby wipes seems to help a lot with cleaning up resin.
Wow I start the video and I am loving the energy!
I just started watching
I would love to see you do a crafting video with your kids. 😃
Awesome work thank you
Angel, you are a genius
These are gorgeous, thank you for sharing, blessings

Thank you I'm going to take a look now:) super excited to make those earrings wish me luck!
Hi do you mix the resin with glue or just mix it for a few minutes and then used I do not have instructions with mine thanks for the video
Do you have a 1 part resin (UV) or 2 part? Either way there is no glue involved.
UV resin you just put into your mold and put under a UV lamp or outside on a sunny day. 2 part resin you mix part A and art B well, do your desired project then let cure overnight.
Soper cute and very creative like always! TFS!
I can't wait to have a go at making something as fabulously sparkly : ))
I really love your video and I hope some day I will be as good as you

Patricia Bruins ACmoore and Blick
I was wondering if you could use eyeshadow to color resin and show a video of the quality?
Does the wire for the earrings rust? That's one of my fears , to have a beautiful product and that less than a month it will rust.
Thank you for sharing!
What about UV Resin ? Is that safe to use indoors ?
I can clean my whole house with baby wipes LOL! I still need a bit of nail polish remover to get any stick residue but I use baby wipes first too:)
Working with resin a lot of fun Im trying to figure out the different colors and maybe a marble afect
How did you do the rectangular ones? How did you wrap it??
I used 24 gauge silver wire and wrapped it around the earring then twisted the ends together in the back, then I pulled the excess wire to the top and made a wrapped loop to attach to the earwires.
I got it locally at acmoore with a coupon but Blick art materials has a great price online:) I used polyester resin by Casin' Craft but epoxy resin would also work:)
Armor All, excellent!
Amazing! Thanks for sharing

It is beautiful

That's what I want to know too.
Hi Lindsay, I am a subscriber to your channel love your Sat chats! And I follow you on Instagram. I am by heart a paper crafter and I live that you have done a few cards lately. I'm not into resin much anymore, sorry.
Your so funny,Lindsay!
Hi where did you buy your mold at? I'm new with resin please help!
I ordered it from Blick Art Materials;)
can you also use paint to color your resin instead of powder tempera?
Hi Cassie, moisture affects the resin so I would not use much wet paint, a drop is OK though, I've used acrylic and it worked but it took a bit longer to cure.

This is actually something I might wear, only I think I'd use mostly mica powders and use a hint of glitter. I prefer my glitter on my cards and other craft projects.
