Chords and lyrics for Red Robin below
    Standard tuning, no Capo
Obviously, this is an acapella song. But you can play those chords to accompany yourself.
    Chorus C Dm C Dm / Dm C Dm / C Dm / Dm C Dm / C Dm
    Verses Dm C Dm / C Dm / Dm C Dm / C Dm
    [Chorus]
    Oh, sweet
Red robin, red robin, red robin,
Oh where do you go in the spring
And where do you sleep in the winter
What sorrowful songs do you sing
    [Verse 1]
Oh I tore my skirt on the briars
And I made my bed in the ditch
And I bathed in the bog waters
And I found the house of the witch
And I found the house of the witch
    [Chorus]
    Oh, sweet
Red robin, red robin, red robin,
Oh where do you go in the spring
And where do you sleep in the winter
What sorrowful songs do you sing
    [Verse 2]
And when I was young I was wicked
And when I was old I was wise
A rose grows so red in the thicket
A medicine weed in the wild
A medicine weed in the wild
    [Chorus]
    Oh, sweet
Red robin, red robin, red robin,
Oh where do you go in the spring
And where do you sleep in the winter
What sorrowful songs do you sing
    [Verse 3]
And when the moon glows in the grasses
The birds all asleep in their trees
The hawthorn is ringed round with dances
And music lilts out on the breeze
And music lilts out on the breeze
    [Chorus]
    Oh, sweet
Red robin, red robin, red robin,
Oh where do you go in the spring
And where do you sleep in the winter
What sorrowful songs do you sing
    Oh, sweet

mate, can you please respond to this and help me out? when people comment with stuff like this im SO confused. The name of the band AND the songs are in the TITLE of the video, a link to buy all their music IN THE DESCRIPTION, and the pinned top comment has links to their music?? What more could I possibly do? Please let me know if you have any more suggestions? Also, what part of Ireland do you live in? I guess if you're in some pensioners pub with football on the TVs then yes, you won't find this. But there are plenty of great trad nights you can visit!

I really hate that corny college choir/Pentatonix-style a capella, it’s one of my least favorite kinds of music. But this is not that, this is cool! like you said, the harmony is so precise. But how dare you tease us by mentioning an All Star cover and not providing it.

    • @GemsOnVHS
      @GemsOnVHS  9 місяців тому +19

indeed. the culture of accapella singing is much different in ireland, i've found. at the pub you'd find many more folks willing to sing without instrumentation. in america this is nearly unheard of, except in the rare cases of appalachian ballad singing. accapella singing in america is associated with choirs at best, barbershop quartets at worst, and a lot of it ends up being very cheesy.

Sean nos singing is becoming quite fashionable in Irish rock at the moment and it grates on my nerves because I'm so used to hearing it unaccompanied it sounds odd to me.
This trio are technically outrageous but a pub vocal session is great craic because you might have some old fellas whose voice is shot but compensate with expression or ballads with an epic plot.
