I love it. Though I would probably have put in a rheostat along with the power switch in order to allow you to control the speed in case you ever want to use the wire brushing on lighter materials that higher RPM might damage instead of clean.

Great idea, I really need to make one of these .you can get hurt badly useing a spinning wire wheel. Your tool makes it very safe. Was that a 3 phase motor? The larger capacitor was used instead of the smaller one. I didn’t understand how you could wire a capacitor into a 3 phase? Or was it a single phase motor. Thank you for showing your talent.

You should feed on an angle or even at a right angle against a fence/support with the pressure against the fence. As it is, this is not much of a tool. Feed would have to be much slower to be effective. I think a belt sanding device in place of the wheels would be much more effective. Wire wheels suck hard on flat surfaces. This machine isn't even touching the mill-scale beneath the rust.

Super! Except I would have made the motor carriage to be spring loaded and more easily adjustable. Spring loaded why? Because the lateral load being applied to the motor bearings would be reduced and also to negate too much overload and stall caused by any sudden gripping of material as seen at the end of the traverse in this video demo near the end. Great concept and definitely can be easily improved upon for anyone interested in making something similar! 👏🏻

you have single phase outlet you should use single phase 3 horse power motor it will work way better than converted three phase one.
    but nice work man👍

Ciao.

but the capacitor is invalid for a 3 phase motor. The Motor has not enough power on one phase. A better solution would using an one pahse to three phase inverter, who generates the three phaseof ac current. You are able to controll the speed of the motor as an additional advantage. I also would like to add guide rails left and on the right side, who prevent the slide the material out of the roller track.
Additionaly - the switch is not water proofed and you cansee slots between switch and cover plate. Water will sucked in by the capillary effect. Where is a emergency stop switch? Your idea ist great and most of the mechanical construction is good handcrafted. But this is electrical unsecure and this must not be. Remember that you have also just one life...take care
