    Excellent as always, I have recently purchased a Golden Corn (after saying I wouldn't till I knew more!) so watching this has given me some idea of what may happen, and now I am really happy that I made the decision to buy one, as I am totally intrigued by it now - love this hobby! keep up the good work Ricky👍

      The intrigue is fascinating Kev. You’ll have fun with, they certainly know how to grow.

      Hi Lee, they have taken off. This year already I see more dealer around the world offering them for sale.

    Would you mind please letting us know how you trap all the koi using the netting 😅

    • @Ricky_Stoddart_Koi
      @Ricky_Stoddart_Koi  2 роки тому

      It’s all about the net. Just drag it along the pond and then pull the cords which pulls in the weighted bottom line.

    Isn't golden corn considered as a kawarimono breed as of the present? AFAIK, all non-metallic koi breeds (or even individuals) that don't fit in specific varieties are relegated to class kawarimono, while unusual-looking metallic koi are placed under class hikarimoyo....

    Curious if you received any GC that are darker with a bluish Asagi overlay? I’m wondering how that would develop.

    • @Ricky_Stoddart_Koi
      @Ricky_Stoddart_Koi  2 роки тому

      Yes I did but in all honesty these are the ones I was rejecting when they were small. Already too dark in my opinion.

    I have never seen koi like that before. The darker ones look very much like a ginrin chagoi which I believe you said was part of the parent mix. It will be interesting to see how they develop over the next few months.

      It’s a pretty new variety. They are changing all the time. Hopefully there will be more updates in spring.

    Are you feeding these colour food?

    • @Ricky_Stoddart_Koi
      @Ricky_Stoddart_Koi  3 роки тому +1

      No because I first wanted to see how the pigment developed naturally before I then learn the impact colour food will have.

    I can't understand the huge excitement Dealers have surrounding these. Body shapes are good but the variety itself does nothing for me. On the other hand I thought Wada Kirin were incredible and bought from one of the very first available, which is star of my pond and gets loads of attention, yet they don't seem to have taken off.

    • @Ricky_Stoddart_Koi
      @Ricky_Stoddart_Koi  2 роки тому +1

      That excitement is not just driven by dealers it’s driven by the interest from hobbyists creating the demand. The fact it does nothing for you if fine it’s a preference the same way as other do get them and like them.
      As for Kirin again it’s a preference. They are also excellent. The numbers available as Tosai for mass market are super limited however which is why you might find they haven’t gained the same traction. They’re not as attainable and that makes a difference.
