2.4GHz is indeed crowded, so we are utilizing our latest algorithm in the B-8, which can run 2 frequency points for wireless transmission with only 1 MHz bandwidth, while still keeping high audio quality and low latency. When the transmission is only 1M, the anti-interference performance is significantly better than others which normally need 2M-4M. Just imagine that you can still drive a motorcycle fast on a highway when there's traffic jam:) Also 2.4GHz has longer wavelength than 5.8GHz, thus on average it has better performance when there are obstacles. And it transmits better audio quality than UHF within similar price range and with similar size.
Nashville gigging musician. Early adopter of this B8 unit. Works flawlessly every time (even in crowded clubs under hotels with terrible WiFi environments and other wireless systems failing). I can also vouch for the obstacle performance because I’ve hopped off the stage and line danced while still playing. Bonus: I’m usually still at about 50% after 4 hours. I’ll see how it handles the road over the next couple of months but I’m very optimistic.
This is tremendously insightful - given this info I definitely see some upsides to my GLXD16+ - may have to give it an A/B cause I love the strap pack size, the superior tuner and boost is a great addon.
Rob, watched this a couple of times last week, ordered one and rehearsed and gigged it over the weekend. Changed my life. Your demo is spot on. You don't need to read the instructions, plug and play, 20 second set up and another 60 seconds to sort the parameters using the intuitive interface/screen. Works well with my Headrush pedal board and the tuner is better than the built in one and a boost function thrown in. I don't comment on "stuff" that often, but this device is a game changer and great value for money.
Brilliant! I as well cannot keep up with NUX's product releases. I still love my old gear, well 5 years old. How time has flown. Valve head and a Barefaced cab, that does it for me. I know the DI out is not going to be the quality of the new gear but hey, with the amount of beer people drink at pubs around here, I doubt they can tell the difference. Oh my! Hail in Malta! Dude, if you were back in the UK you'd be helping me build the Ark in the back garden.
I loved mine.... until, 2 drop outs in the same gig, 2 weeks in a row. I can't have drop outs while performing live. I went back to my Shure system, I've never had a single drop out with Shure.
I do large budget events for a living and I can say the nux stuff really doesn't work for larger format events or rooms. We have nothing but dropouts and issues when a band or artists brings one in. They always have to connect to out ulxd or axiant system for a stable signal.
Got mine just before Christmas and have used it for several hours in our worship team where we use wireless mics, wireless in ears, and wireless cameras. Crystal clear, range is good but latency does seem to increase a bit the further I get from the stage.
You didnt even show the tuner but you did comment on the quality of the cardboard box, that goes immediatly on a closet shelf and remains there till its thrown in the trash. Were you told to talk about the cardboard? It looks cool but I cant trust reviewers that talk about the quality of the box it came in. Lots of reviewers have admitted they were paid and were instructed to talk about the packaging on all types of electronics
2.4 Ghz barf ! 20-20khz, but at how many dB +/-? Non replaceable battery. I have a Shure GLXD16 for bass, also 2.4 GHz, works most of the time. Replaceable battery, solid sound on bass, built like a tank. Usually I support Chinese tech, but this is old news at $300.
Thanks, Rob! Great content as always. I've been struggling to come down on one side of the fence regarding whether to ditch my cables. Wireless, tuner, and a boost? Yes, please! I'll definitely start squirreling away some cash and grab one soon.
Looks decent and I like the idea of minimising the footprint on my pedalboard, but not sure if I want it to replace my favourite tuner (TU=3), current favourite boost (Spark) or current wireless system (WL-50). This said, it would give me room for more pedals. Nice review Rob.
I agree noisy cables are a pain. Have had brand new ones not work or worse be noisy, and you have to track down the bad one. Thanks for the videos Rob May you and your family have a great day!

I've had it for two months and it fails continuously, it doesn't matter if it's at half a meter or thirty meters. I've already had 3 concerts with RF failures, I'm going to have to return it if they don't find a solution for it. I have used the Line6 G30 for over 15 years and it has failed 3 times in that time. NUX b8 crashes 15 times every time I use it. I cannot recommend purchasing the unit.
Been looking at it. Still wondering if the Shure will be the better choice. I like the form factor and features of the NU/X. Like to see how they compare... Talking about the Shure GLXD16+.
Is my attention span bad or did you not demo the boost? Also as a Brit, (even ex pat) the rule with testing wireless systems is that you have to do the 'can you hear me now' bit from Phoenix Nights.
That looks very nice. I bought the Amp Academy last year and it was great for a while, then it just stopped working. Hopefully this unit is more durable! I lost the receipt for Amp Academy- so don’t be too quick to discard paperwork! Mine came with a warranty card, I believe.
NUX must have some pretty incredible engineering talent. They never seem to fail to innovate. I've fallen in love with their Loop Core Stereo pedal as my primary looper, even though it seems to fly under the radar among looper enthusiasts. Just bundling tuner/boost/wireless together would be fantastic for my pedal board, but I don't need the wireless and my board is already crammed to the hilt. Looks really cool though, and seems a value for the money.
I got a Rectifier style distortion from them last year which hadn’t been wired… No sound when I plugged it in so took the back off… All the components were there, just no wire 😂
@@danwalters7224 They're a Chinese company. Mistakes on an assembly line aren't unheard of. Surprised QC didn't catch that one. I was referring to their engineers though, who aren't exactly on the line assembling the products.
Can you replace the battery in the transmitter . Previous 2 NUX wireless did not and both my NUX were redundant in just over a year. I also had problems with interference and drop out that lasted for hours when in fixed location that only a day later were gone. The answer was to move to military/emergency spec UHF 9.5 KHz. I have a M-Vave WP-5G. Zero problems for over a year and it only cost $42.00 USD.
I bought a cheap wireless setup recently - to try the idea out - and it’s amazing! Even just jamming with friends, at home - it’s a godsend - especially for things like swapping over to an acoustic and then back again, not having to worry about where the cables are…. It also works great with my digital sax - so I’d say these devices are damned near essential! By the time I need a new one, there might even be a mkII version!
could i connect the guitar input part to a mixing console and strap on the receiver to my belt and connect in ear headphones to the output of the receiver and use it as a cheaper alternative for an in ear system?
I have the NUX (new x) Mighty Space amp with the wireless and love it. Wireless is nice around the house with dogs. I’m still looking for that cable under foot though. Out by the pool is cool too.
Great video as always. Sooooo.....can it do 2 outputs? I have a splitter (Radial Big Shot) that takes the guitar the splits it between my Quad Cortex and a clean signal to my audio interface for synth guitar. Could this replace the splitterbox and give me wireless guitar and midi? If so, there is a new market going to be emerging very soon.
Great video-this is definitely for guitar players. I bought a Nux and playing with in ear monitors, my B string sounded horrible. I bought a PRA wireless 10 years ago and it sounds better than a cable. Just wish the were still in business to make 5.8. My 2.4 cuts out som indoors but not outside. Keep up the great videos sir🙌🏼🎸
Perfect for acoustic guitar. I don't need effects and just need a tuner and a volume boost for solos. Perfect! If I'd youse effects, I'd go as follows: Nux b8, cry baby wah, Ibanez ts9, tc viscous vibe, boss rc30, boss re20, strymon blue sky...

I got it... Super cool 🎸 Perfect wireless, tuner and interface💪💪 Only thing is, that you can hit the knob above the footswitch by mistake, because the knobs are so close I hoped it was possible to lock those bottuns..
with the DI, this seems kinda perfect for an acoustic player who has a decent preamp on the guitar - run a few effects in the loop and DI to the FOH. Nice big tuner screen and a boost for solos. Seems like a winner.
Is the boost Pre FX pedals or post FX pedals. you see I would not put my pedals into an FX loop like this where you come out of this and into an amp. This would be a boost for some my acoustics guitars. The acoustics that have no preamp in the acoustic pickup. the DiMarzio 234 and 235 are passive. They are both in my baritone acoustic. They need a preamp to get into my pedalboard. The way I see it depending on where the boost is added pre or post. If it's before the FX loop, then everything would be fine. If its after the FX pedals after you go back into the Nux B-8 and before the output jack, then I would have to just jump the FX loop of this pedal with a short cable. The only cable I see this eliminating is the one from the guitar to the rig that any wireless system will do. This review left way too many questions. More in depth on how the routing works is needed.
It would be very useful if the receiver had a battery to charge the transmitter when it was not plugged in, because after the show the entire system will be stored somewhere and the transmitter will run out of power unless you recharge it at home or even before of the next event.
@justin I don't own a NUX but it's certainly going to be like putting a buffered pedal between your guitar and your fuzz. I'll stick to my old "evil" guitar cable as my fuzzes are all very sensitive to buffers.
This looks great. About time someone was doing something easy to use but solid like this. My only hesitation would be the rechargeable transmitter. Great that it is rechargeable but these battery types don’t last forever so I’d be worried about longevity. How long would the batteries in the transmitter last across charges. And can the internal battery/batteries be replaced?
Over just purchased the NUX plug in effects and I can not believe the quality!!! It sounds insane through headphones and even Bluetooth speakers….. great products very well priced! Great review Rob, keep up the great work 🎸👍

Love that you’re still using your Octavio Chappers! The NUX gear is really great. Would happily drop this on my board. Including a boost seemed a bit odd at first, but really makes sense. Why have a tuner & a boost when they can easily be combined & minimise board real estate take up.
my Boss NS-1X needs to see my guitar, to get my guitar's noise out. i had a Nady wireless for a long time, and i remember being really happy to lose the cable..... i guess i am asking if the NUX B-8 also has noise reduction ???
So where were you in 2020 when Xvive changed the way guitarists plug in? I've been using their U2 system for that long with no interference problems, and a much faster charge time than NUX is advertising. And they consistently last 5 hours and then some.
So I have the last NUX system, the NUX C-5RC and I stopped using it as I kept getting interference. It's the 2.4ghz version (I see they have a 5.8ghz version of the 5RC now). My concerns would be the interference.......
I think it would be nice if there was a way to activate the Boost without being near your pedalboard. Seems like there could be a button on the transmitter or a way to attach one to your guitar and plug it into the transmitter. Don't get me wrong it's cool product but everything could use Improvement.
2.4GHz is indeed crowded, so we are utilizing our latest algorithm in the B-8, which can run 2 frequency points for wireless transmission with only 1 MHz bandwidth, while still keeping high audio quality and low latency.

I like the concept, but why does it have a send/return? What does it do between the return and the output?
I love Nu-X, recently bought the Queen of Tone and the Optima Air pedals... The B-8 is my next purchase
Love that you’re still using your Octavio Chappers! The NUX gear is really great. Would happily drop this on my board. Including a boost seemed a bit odd at first, but really makes sense. Why have a tuner & a boost when they can easily be combined & minimise board real estate take up.
When did you start the 'Rimmer' salute to end vids?
15 years ago ha ha
my Boss NS-1X needs to see my guitar, to get my guitar's noise out.
i had a Nady wireless for a long time, and i remember being really happy to lose the cable..... i guess i am asking if the NUX B-8 also has noise reduction ???
