Agreed about the self-sabotage. There was a point in which he and I were not good for each other, and that's part of why we lost touch. I'll always love him like a brother tho. He knew that. I just wish we could have reconnected later in life when he was in a better way. It seems that he struggled with substance abuse throughout his life. That may be why he never reached back out to me later on. He was a friend and mentor I'll never forget, and one of the biggest influences of my young childhood. I imagine him playing Blackbird on his acoustic at a party, the whole room hushed in amazement. Rock on, Jeff.
@@BillVincent I was the bass player and we had a drummer practicing with Jeff and had a songlist of about 15 tunes. People were starting to come over to watch us practice, and we were on the edge of you know, doing something. Then for no reason, other than his excuse of "mental collapse" he just nixed the entire project. He started really getting into Gentle Giant at that time and we drifted apart as i wanted to go out and play in front of people. During that brief moment I had people come over to my garage and I did a recording of an original tune this gal singer wrote. This is early 80's and I tried to clean it up as best I could last night to make the tune listenable. It really shows off his electric lead and wah pedal.
