      +Jessie Patt the last thing that actually ended up working wasn't bleach. This was a video to show you different ways people have said work, and we wanted to share what did and didn't work for us.

    • @Hope-ih7wx
      @Hope-ih7wx 8 років тому +39

      Jessie Patt It's meant to be "without bleaching" as the bleach powder is not activated here, as it is in normal bleaching. Katie tends to stress that herself.

      The last one, the color remover, has developer but no bleach. I've used color removers a lot. Developer does not equal bleach, otherwise all oxidated dyes would be bleach, right?

    Everyone saying that you talk too much, I would have to disagree with them I appreciate the information you gave. Especially coming from a fellow cosmetologist I appreciated you breaking down why certain things wouldn’t chemically work and why other things would chemically work. Other people just don’t understand the chemicals or the Scientific lingo so they see it as babel. But I do not, so thank you, i’m trying to get blue out of my hair right now and it’s a pain is the ass!

      It’s not click bait, the bleach powder (without developer) is only being used as an exfoliant, which is why you see people using vitamin c powder or baking powder instead. It isn’t the same as bleaching the hair.

      Just so you know, don't use refined coconut oil on the hair. "Using LouAna coconut oil for hair is not recommended. Since LouAna coconut oil has been refined, it is very similar to any other processed oil and will not be as easily absorbed into your hair like an unrefined coconut oil would be and therefore does not provide your hair with the same benefits. "

    I always use Katie's fading treatment to fade my colors (I have super fine hair that does not tolerate processing well), even the dreaded Ion sky blue comes out with it. Sure, it takes a few, but spaced out to once a week? Bye bye blue in @3wks!
    It's definitely a blessing to the DIY community!

      Jamie Hughes you can you 10 or 20 volumes to deposit color as well....so how is Malibu a lightener???

    • @jamiehughes2832
      @jamiehughes2832 7 років тому +7

      Corinna Thompson the strength of the developer is not what determines whether or not it is a bleach. It has Ingredients
      Potassium Persulfate, Sodium Carbonate, Sodium Persulfate, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Metasilicate, Disodium EDTA, Kaolin, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Polyquaternium-10
      and the product itself has a pH of 10.5-12.
      The better question is, how is it not considered a lightener when it has "lift" in the name. No matter what developer is used (even water because water will cause it to oxidize) bleach is going to lift.

    I was desperately seeking a way to wash out a shampoo stain. I discovered a few less expensive ways. Not a hair dye, granted, but a mere clarifying shampoo or dandruff shampoo fades such color but I'm impatient and after the first fail, I had to have immediate results. Your pointers were on point. So appreciative. I love the packet options. No one warns consumers that the shampoo stains won't always lift off easily and they adhere to blonde hair that is sun damaged while not grabbing onto the virgin root, leaving a nasty halo affect if the color difference is extreme. Experience is everything. I'm glad it was my own hair while trying a new product line and not a client or a patient, as I do patient care, home health... And the color was supposed to be a beautiful silver/grey, but it turned darker... Nearly a blue/black. Thankful, again, I sacrificed my own hair and my own worry. Lol

    Just an FYI to anyone that plans on using DDL (and I think she says it in this video, too), don't put this on your roots! My stylist used it for the first time on me so it was new to her and she accidentally went all the way to my roots with it. I got a chemical burn from it! Not too terrible, but it felt like my entire scalp had been sunburnt for a couple days.

  • @mzmiz0

    Usually takes more than 1 of Katie's Fading Treatments to really see color get pulled out. And different colors/brands can be harder (or easier) to fade. Also depends on the level of fading that's happened over time. Best course: overnight coconut oil or argan oil, next day add more oil, wait 2 hours, do Katie's Fading Treatment. Then for the next week do overnight oil treatments and following day apply clarifying shampoo to oiled hair. Massage through for 15 minutes, rinse in very warm water, shampoo again, finish with a good silicone free conditioner. Do that every night/day for a week, then do a second of Katie's Fading Treatment. You will see results!

  • @Laurlaurrrrlaurrrrr
    @Laurlaurrrrlaurrrrr 8 років тому +2

    That first method is actually called a "shampoo cap" or "bleach wash" and it usually works better if you let it sit for a while and scrub. Also using soo many things to condition the hair in the mix is going to make the process take longer since you're also smoothing the cuticle. I've done it without any kind of conditioning and it worked very well.

    • @AlexsisMae
      @AlexsisMae  8 років тому

      +Lauren Smith a shampoo cap it's just shampoo lighter and developer, this was different then that and didn't use developer. It would have been way to harsh on her hair since she is so processed already!

    I'll have to try this. Used Beyond the Zone Color Jamz in purple passion, tripped up turquoise, bubblehead pink, not so shy violet and huckleberry blue. It was supposed to wash out over time, however, it stayed in my hair six weeks . I finally used BTZ Radical Color Remover. The first time I used it with water, it lightened up, but not enough. The next day I tried it with ION Sensitive Scalp 20 developer and more came out, the purple was now like a dusty rose but brassy at the ends. third time everything but a hint of pink came out; however, I had a lot of yellow and brass. Don't know anything about toners so I waited a day and tried ION Brilliance Colors Brights Titanium, rose, lavender and azure blue. The only colors that really took are the lavender and azure. The rose is more like a peachy color and the titanium took, but it's really uneven. I guess toning it would have been the smart thing to do. So I've now made the decision that my hairdresser will be doing this.

    it took my color and demi out completely! works great but only issue is your hair deff needs to be in great shape bc it will make it more fragile. my hair didn't have great integrity beforehand so I shouldn't have used it but I was desperate and wanted to try it before using it on clients. I used 10vol and only left on like 15 min and my hair was destroyed, been recooperating it ever since and might have to cut off a few inches. so deff use with caution or see if there's a way to use olaplex with it!! but deff gets all colors out!

    10 to 15 vitamin c tablets crushed, with equal parts shampoo work amazing. Leave on 20-90 minutes, and it will pull most if not all direct dye out, also overtoned hair, and fade some permanent dyes. It is slightly drying so condition well, but no bleach!

    Idk about the vinegar. Vinegar is used to seal dyes thats why you use it on your black clothes to stop fading and then i seen people use it when they wash their colored hair to preserve it.

      believe the point is to close down the cuticle that you've left wide open. Has to do with the ph level of the white vinegar. Not a stylist but that's what I've read

    I did the ddl when it came out and it dries your hair out so bad. the fact that it uses developer should actually drive the color further into the hair strand. it gives you the option for a gentler removal using water instead of developer which I'd recommend. but the best method so far is with Pravana's pure light power lightener and zero lift developer. my client always gets lots of colors and it got her completely platinum with no damage

    • @AlexsisMae
      @AlexsisMae  8 років тому

      +mckenzie schafer we didn't have any problems with damage. And the other methods simply didn't work on her color. Sometimes one answer isn't the answer for everything 😉

    I keep up my lisence but haven't worked in a salon for over 10 years. So some of this is new to me. Is Continuum the same concept as Olaplex? (Neither of which I've used). Sad part is.....I, literally haven't had my own hair done in YEARS! Last time I went to a salon she totally chopped my hair off. Thanks for the "continuing education"!

    you can saturate the hair with coconut oil for 1 hour to over night before you bleach to reduce damage. And you put the bleach on top of the coconut oil it doesn't affect how the bleach works.

    Hi, Alexsis, I really appreciate what you do to help up us, so I've been following you go a while and thanks God for this video..
    I been doing my hair for a long time, but I have never tried fantasy colors before, so I went with the sky blue from ion and it works perfect, I had a balayage before, so it looked amazing, but I got tired of it, so I used color fix to remove the color, but didn't work, so with no results, I used bleach and it works, but at the end I still have some of the green, even when I use a 7NG. My question is, can I use the Malibu DDL and use a permanent hair color over it again?

    I have a client that colored her own hair at home black, and wanted to go to a platinum blonde. before she colored it black, it had been many different bright colors, including pink. I used lightener, twice, a week apart, and everything came out perfect except she still has a baby pink band on her midshaft. Do you think the ddl would work? or do you think if I couldn't get it out with lightener it's not happening.

    • @carolineboves4043
      @carolineboves4043 5 років тому

      DrawingWithZu No, actually her natural color seems to be a bit darker (you could see it towards her roots new growth) the blank canvas for silver hair refers to hair that is clean of natural pigment, meaning it has been bleached. It is also a blank canvas for color dyes since they won’t look their best if applied onto naturally dark hair. Hope this helps🤗🥰
