I love this! I'm a woman in my 40s that has always loved fresh scents and I use this so much in the summer and have since my teens. I buy it in the bottle, the aerosol spray, the stick and wipes. It's clean, invigorating, zingy and will wake you up for sure.
I love using it after shaving. I just wish it lasted for more than 47 seconds, but then again, it's easy to spray a fragrance on after using it because it won't clash with anything.
In Europe (perticularly Germany) it's not uncommon to see this in people's bathrooms and it's acceptable for guests to freshen up etc. My grandmother was German and kept this in her bathroom constantly. I feel like it's a previous generations habit, but yeah still around. I have a bottle in the bathroom for exactly that reason.
You can assume that some people take a peek in your bathroom cabinet but the only things guests are allowed to use are hand soap, a towel and maybe rooms spray and sanitizer. If you want to refresh yourself, ask for certain things or use your own stuff. It would be very disrespectful to excuse yourself only to appear with your hosts perfume and lipstick on. Dont do it or dont get caught.
4711 is a masterpiece! One of my favourite perfumes! It's timeless and classy like Adp Colonia which is my other favourite, smells very similar but lasts a lot longer!
Just got my first bottle. Nice fresh clean refreshing smell, nothing spectacular but nice. If I had to describe it, it be a bar of Ivory Soap with lemon juice. Also, occasionally it reminds me of Coppertone tanning lotion. I know, those two descriptions are totally different, weird. But mostly the Ivorysoap/lemon.
Neroli Potafino TF is an incredible scent I'm excited to get this now I ordered 4711 blind because I did a search on old colognes but I have had every Tom Ford type available and by far my two picks are tobacco oud and Neroli Potafino great video man!
4711 exists also in an all day lasting scent as a spray bottle. I have it and not only older women come closer to me but also young chicks? Very recommendable.
I think it's because the notes in this are timeless, we have citrus, lavender rosemary and of course the star player in this frag is Neroli, the other notes are used in hundreds of other frags, so I would call 4711 a Neroli based cologne, obviously if you are not fond of neroli then you wont like this one. in general though it is mass appealing freshie, so I guess that is why it's still around.
I have 2 bottles of these and the scent is definitely fleeting. I prefer something lingering. So I use this to mix with some fragrant oils since it had alcohol to help emulsify the scents in the fragrant oil mix, and the oil will hold the 4711 scent longer in return, although the scents would definitely mux and change. But the change is pleasant anyway.
I just bought it! After shower, just tried it and my gosh! It's amazing. Even without as a spray just pour and rub and pat it anywhere! Wow! Smells so gooood
I love this cologne! Been using it since the early 1970’s ! Fantastic Bottle - Fantastic scent - great history! But •••• I call it my “ heart breaker “ cologne because it only lasts for about one to two hours on my skin.
They throw tiny samples during the cologne carnival parade... at least in the '90s they did. My grandma had a 4711 stick in get bathroom to apply for headaches.
Multiple generations of my family applied this topically to the stomach when suffering from stomach pain. Weirdly, the evaporation & inhaling copious amounts of vapour (from applying to such a large & warm area) does indeed distract from the immediate discomfort :')
I'm very german and this is the scent I grew up with and know even by my elder relatives. There's probably never gonna be another one for me. I just love it.
People used to drink this stuff too, like a tonic, so I've read. It was touted as some kind of miracle water with internal medicinal properties. Can you believe that?
I actually spray it above me before I sit down to read and let it rain down. ♫ "Let it raaaaaaain, oh let it raaAAaain..."♫ 😄 Puts me in a lively state of mind for efficient information assimilation. That sounded like the borg. What I meant to say was.....resistance is futile. Just buy it. And experience 471.1 seconds of citrusy goodness. 🍋
I think I saw a variation of 4711 on Amazon, branded as 4711 but with a stronger, longer lasting fragrance made by the same European company. I must recheck in Amazon to be sure. By the way, while in Amsterdam some time back there was a HUGE lighted sign near the canal that simply read 4711...the same way it appears on the bottle and its box. Nothing more...just 4711! It was beautiful to see at night. When I say huge my lady and I were awestruck at how large it was against the night sky. Of course it needed nothing else to say of it. If you were hip to it you'd automatically know that this giant lit advert was a reminder of the fragrance, and I'm sure that most Europeans know about this cologne. Cheers! 🙏♐
Back before air conditioning, Australian women would splash this on their wrists, or atomise it when that became available, just to get some relief on a day over 100F. You'd see them do it in church. 4711 also make a thing called "Ice Cologne" with a high alcohol content that gives a brief cooling effect as it evaporates.
My Dutch mother, grandmother, great-grandmother etc. used 4711 probably since 1792. Before deodorant people freshened their "hankies" and kept it in their pockets if they didn't apply it directly to their pulse points. Yes it is still relevant. Refreshing, unisex and inexpensive.
It is the best. I have used it for more than 50 years - but the newer fragrances are AWFUL!!! They actually make me physically sick and the strong toxic smell sticks to everything (unlike 4711 which is so mild you often wish it could last longer). The reason I could wear 4711 is because I am sensitive to perfumes and this was the one exception. I bought the range of new fragrances and every single one of them made me feel sick. I can't even use them for a room deodoriser because my granddaughter starts sneezing and coughing and needs antihistamines. It seems that the company have now joined the regular toxic perfume industry. NOT happy! And now that they seem to have sold out to perfume suppliers all over the world, there is no longer a central website. At first I thought someone else had tried to copy 4711 but apparently they are the real deal. I hope it does not change the beautiful original.
@@FragranceBros 4711 in Germany never were worn by young People, the only way was in Travel Busses they gave the passengers 4711 Refreshening tissues at the hot Summer Days
To me, this is the perfect fragrance to use after a shower and just chill at home. Great scent, light and very inexpensive.
Exactly, I use it exclusively at home…it’s a private pleasure👆

Living in humid S.Florida, I use this as a cold splash in the Summer. Love it!

A classic monthly application for women getting 'those' migraines.

I use to be a frag-head. But that's an infinite rabbit hole. Now I just use 4711. I'll never need anything else. 🍋🍊

perfect use for that!

When you got a haircut in the 1950's this got rubbed on the back of your neck.
In India they use this as remedy for Cold 🤧 apply it around nose, chest n mid scalp

I didn't know that! Thank you!
Have you ever tried the Ach Brito Eau De Colognes? It was Frank Sinatra's favorite so I figure they're probably pretty good.
I haven't! I need to check them out!
we use that to apply on a the body of a person before they get burried :) in Indonesia we weirdly do that or perhaps used to do that
Great review and I enjoyed it and it really is a good fresh fragrance and have a blessed day
have it. on extremely hot days. It is fantastic product to cool down with it at home or just short term casual outdoors

So true 🎉
My german grandma had it, I have their modern variants, will get this one, once I m in Germany again ...
One of my favorite, I use literally liters of this.
This is great to freshen up in the morning if you don't have enough time to take a shower .
Great quick review! I will try it
Its never going to be a bad buy.
Tom Ford Neroli definitely was inspired by 4711! Neroli Portofino intense is definitely my first purchase after I hit the lottery. 😂
Al Haramain Neroli Canvas it is an absolute monster clone of TF
I need an 800ml of this 🤪🤪
more like tom ford smells like 4711! great video! if only it lasted longer the smell!
4711 cologne doesn’t smell like Neroli Portafino: more like Neroli Portafino smells like 4711.
saying one thing smells like another doesn't mean that one thing was released before the other.
Yeah, but some people don’t know that..
Nice video anyway!
After a bike ride or hike I shower and splash this on. Just refreshing on a hot day!
Love your review on this classic. It is my out of the shower refresher. Then twenty minutes later I put on my fragrance for the day. Cheers my friend.
I love it! I hope you are doing well!
Mr: Smith!! I miss your reviews and watching you mix a cocktail 🍹! Where are you 👋

Dev saab favourite cologne
that means eau de toilette cane from the Toilet?
Every time I see it I think it’s a vodka bottle
I blind bought this because of the history, and I'm not thrilled with it. I dislike citronella.
They even do intersting variants now ❤
I take to the pool and spray to keep mozzys away
its exactly like neroli portofino, but literally 1/20 the price.
perfect for when you need to spend 10 more dollars to get free shipping.
😂😂 true!
The smell of Old Omas!!
my grandma like it .
Not in Germany, if you wear this as a Young Guy people would say " Your smell like a Old dusty Grandpa" 😂
ha! I love how perceptions of scent change from region to region.

Aqua di Parma indeed, but it has an Asian like smell.

I’d say it doesn’t smell like T Ford, i’d say T Ford smells like 4711!
Can you please rephrase the sentence where you're saying it smells like Tom Ford when the truth is Tom Ford smells like it. End of story.
no one cares.
I think it smells like gin.
