- Parliament Session: Congress MP Shafi Parambil on Friday moved a private member’s resolution in the Lok Sabha on appropriate measures to regulate airfare. He highlighted the plight of migrant workers in the Gulf region who are mostly unskilled or semi-skilled with limited income and the unscrupulous increase in airfare during vacation seasons dragged them into a huge debt trap.

This issue should be seriously addressed as soon as possible!!! If 10 -12 hours flights to Europe and America can fly with a ticket fare of 40K - 60K, why should the 3 - 4 hours journey to middle east costs 50K - 70K 😮. Its called looting😢

The airline industry increases their fare on vacation time of our children and that is the time we can travel and meet our parents and relatives. We will be on great debt due to that high price once we came back to work and it will take almost 6 to 12 months to recover from it

Even domestic flights need to be regulated including the laws for refunds, partial refunds and how these guys behave with consumers. The top management and decision makers behave not only like they are a 'cartel' but they control the air transport! Ground staff is helpless. Pilots and crew, I salute; they are the only reason why airlines are running.

Good to hear different issues being raised with facts & figures, by Opposition. So important to have strong Opposition.
Here is another example, when I checked few days ago for a flight ticket charge, it was charging around 70000 Rs from Dubai to Trivandrum. While the same airline on the same day was charging only 40000 from Dubai to Paris, France, which is much further away than India. The reason as that European countries are regulating ticket prices for the benefit of their citizens while our country is not.
The same issue I faced while coming from Dubai to Delhi disgusting
