Hello, thank you for listening to our music. I hope it gives you some joy and pleasure.
I am pleased that you have discovered our music through this medium. I view this experience as the equivalent of previewing a record in a record store in days of old. However, if you wish to experience the music in its' fullest form, I would strongly encourage you to acquire it in a physical format you can bring into your home. Not only will you then be able to experience the richest version of the music sonically, but you will also be afforded the opportunity to enjoy the tangible artwork, which was conceived in tandem with the music, and serves as a further portal to experiencing the total conceptual and spiritual and emotional content of the work we have labored, lovingly, to bring to you.
    I love you,
    - Michael Gira / Swans / Young God Records

One of the greatest songs ever made in my opinion

I now consider The Glowing Man to be the crowning achievement of post-reunion Swans and their trilogy of albums. If The Seer is slugging through hell, and To Be Kind is contending with the chaos of life in the human realm, with the beauty and chaos that comes with humanity, The Glowing Man is the slingshot into the heavens, not peaceful but forceful. The title track may be one of their greatest musical achievements, a colossal track, technically perfect, and such relentless sublime brutality is followed by this piece - Finally, Peace. A fitting end to it all.

My cousin: Mr Gira would be proud of this comment. I think the same, but wouldn't be able to articulate such an explanation. The album ending like this left me speechless back in the day it was released. I adore this piece.

This song feels like dying, but in a good, cathartic way. It's the stillness and calm after a long period of turmoil.

To me it sounds like ascending to heaven, and feeling very happy because you're leaving a life full of terror behind.
This sounds super pretentious, but that's how I interpret it.

it's like Gira saw a bit of God/heaven and then he's been pissed ever since that he's still alive with momentary glimpses of heaven coming from his music.

The trylogy of albums starts with ''Lunacy'' a track about the formation of the first developemental afterbirth thoughts, and their chaotic nature, like being born into a world of chaos. This track is the last living moments of the same character that through a life of struggles finds peace at the end, like finally breaking free of the chaos.

i wouldn't say that. i actually believe that each one of these albums is a very individual one. for example, my favourite swans album whatsoever: The Seer
it, in my point of view, tells a story. i won't write the story down here, because it's my own intepretation and very probably wasn't the intention of Gira, nonetheless, you can hear it there if you pay attention. the album's sound is extremely primal - all the bagpipes and dulcimers, a distinct, unifying sound.

I had a similar thought, specifically comparing each sequential album to the sections of the Divine Comedy. Though I think a more accurate description would be that each album contains elements of both heaven and hell.

      Hřebík Do Rakve
      YES MAN!!
I’ve mapped out a whole movie plot line and scenes around the Seer and same with TBK.
They do conjure up completely different images though.
The Seer brings to mind a fantasy mid evil setting focusing on a conflict of a kingdom and the wolf seen on the cover.
TBK is a completely different story though. I think of a kind of “future warfare” setting between the theocracies of“the sun” and “nightfall”
Gira also plays a role in the conflict, acting as a Demigod that keeps the world in a constant state of chaos and war.
I feel like a madman describing this and if you want me to elaborate do tell.

    Swans - Finally, Peace Lyrics:
    [Verse]
With glittering hands on collapsible land
We're praising the sun for the damage he's done
A ruinous eyesore, oh what is a mind for?
Just a knife in a lake, just an arrow in space
All creation is hollow, and a picture's a shadow
Just a symptom of love, with a lack of a cause
Now the city's dissolving, and heaven's inhaling
While the ocean is thinking of a surface reflecting:
    [Outro]
Your glorious mind, your glorious mind
Your glorious mind, your glorious mind
Your glorious mind, your glorious mind
Your glorious mind, your glorious mind
Your glorious mind (Your glory is mine)
Your glorious mind (Your glory is mine)
Your glorious mind (Your glory is mine)
Your glorious mind (Your glory is mine)
Your glorious mind (Your glory is mine)
Your glorious mind (Your glory is mine)
Your glorious mind (Your glory is mine)
Your glorious mind (Your glory is mine)
Your glorious mind (Your glory is mine)
Your glorious mind (Your glory is mine)
Your glorious mind (Your glory is mine)
Your glorious mind (Your glory is mine)
Your glorious mind (Your glory is mine)
Your glorious mind (Your glory is mine)
Your glorious mind (Your glory is mine)
Your glorious mind (Your glory is mine)
    Mine, mine
    Mine, mine
    Mine, mine
    Mine, mine
    Mine, mine

I haven't listened to this album for about a year - this song in particular never really stood out to me and I never thought much of it - but when it started playing thanks to UA-cam's algorithm, it struck some nerves in me I cannot explain. Like a transcendental nostalgia I have never experienced. I can't explain it very well but it's clear to me the magical sorcery that is Swans and Michael Gira's music.
