Hello, thank you for listening to our music. I hope it gives you some joy and pleasure.
I am pleased that you have discovered our music through this medium. I view this experience as the equivalent of previewing a record in a record store in days of old. However, if you wish to experience the music in its' fullest form, I would strongly encourage you to acquire it in a physical format you can bring into your home. Not only will you then be able to experience the richest version of the music sonically, but you will also be afforded the opportunity to enjoy the tangible artwork, which was conceived in tandem with the music, and serves as a further portal to experiencing the total conceptual and spiritual and emotional content of the work we have labored, lovingly, to bring to you.
I love you,

I could play this in a Home Depot and no one would notice
underrated comment
@@erwin2869 Look up the home depot theme
@@naelevoli7185 Sorry I'm not american. What's the joke?
@@brendoncooper4529 The home depot has a banging hammer sound in the background, similar to the drums in this song.
@@brendoncooper4529 Home Depot is a home appliance chain in the states
I like spinning in circles and taking steps in sync with the beat and stopping at the end when the song gets all distorted so I’m laying there all dizzy and hearing the weird noise at the same time
I just tried this and when I stopped exactly when the first explosion of noise came, it was the most disorienting 2 seconds of my life.
i like tyou
FOREVER DIZZAAAAY
thats adorable
Ok I gotta try that now
that groove is the most headbangable thing in the universe
Pink little lamb, on a granite slab
Black chasm creeping, forever leaking
Oh universe
Sing in reverse
Oh sucking lung
We'll never come
Forever loving!
Forever waiting!
[Refrain]
Oh yeah! Oh yeah!
The universal mind!
[Verse 2]
Eye full of sun, hand full of mud
Oh universe: you stink of love!
Forever lazy
Forever crazy
Forever holy
Forever hungry
Forever hateful
Forever beautiful
Forever needing
Forever reaching
Forever stinking
Forever breathing
Forever growing
Forever leaving
Man, this is one funky deity
You know it's swans when they throw in the ratchet and clank music
Not going to lie... Anthony Fantano brought me here. Not gonna lie... I'm glad he did.
Seth Carter i use melon man all the time, he likes suggesting music i might miss for usually good thoughtful reasons nothing to hate on bout that
Hey yourself;) Hard to find such a gentleman in times like these

2:00 How did humans this kind of groove? Heaven!
For some reason, my close-to-60 year- old-Dad understood "The Glowing Man" but still tried to convince me that this song was just a "wall of sound" (and that the picture was "horrifying" ) but I hear every instrument, the sound is so RAW and I love artwork.
Does your father like Soundtracks for the Blind? It has elements of both
2:00 this part got me dancing like Bigquint
Gira sounds like Wario sometimes. 😂

Me 3 years ago: "Huh... Yeah I guess green day are kinda cool"
Me now:
Green Day seems to be the band everyone gets into when they first start getting into music
@@bigboineptune9567 Gorillaz for me actually. They’re still my favorite band too
I started with SOAD's and AC/DC's discography 6 years ago. To this day I still love SOAD but AC/DC fucking sucks.
became a hipster, I'd say it's a step back
@@sarang8585 well, I still love Trench. Blurryface was pop but creative, Vessel was cool too. But yes now from them to Swans, Black Midi, Fugazi is a huge change for me
We love you too...thank you for your brilliant music trough this long and dark age that we live in...
Much love,

This song left me speechless
I love music that tells very clearly the feeling and identity of its writer; I find this to be one of the great qualities of art. But the unfortunate side of this is that at the basest level, I really don’t want to see, or rather hear who many people are. I find this music to be intriguing but also sickening.
swans sound in a nutshell p much. describing the brutality of reality. so much so that people are turned away by it
My second favorite track off of To Be Kind, only behind Screen Shot.
The title track and Kirsten Supine are my two favorite
Weird I like Screen Shot and Oxygen.
Hard for me to pick favorites. Easier to pick a couple of least favorites.

the digital covers for this album are inconsistent because the real album art is the _idea_ of that baby's face
what?
Paragraphs I think he’s trying to be deep
@@paragraphs7235 the original album art is literary the baby's face lamented onto a piece of cardboard, so the white background is inconsistent

That part of the song has been eating at my soul for the past day or two.
That shit is creepy as fuck.
I've looked it up a few times and itt's never stuck with me.
SOAP BAR SUMMON THE MARS BAR
I hear alternations between "simple, summon the master" and "so far, someone has died"
I HIGHLY suggest anyone take 2 tabs of acid and listen to this song at the peak of your trip. Or listen to any SWANS, really.
Do you HIGHLY suggest that they contact you at the peak of their psychotic episode also ?
@Christopher Marlowe or just a pussy with no experience in psychidelics. Inb4 > i dont need drugs to have fun / explore the mind
Everyone here can't understand that some people are genuinely more susceptible to bad trips/psychotic breaks than others and that psychedelics have different effects for some people LMFAO
Void That’s it. I’m all for psychedelics but to say there is not risk is stupid. I’ve tripped many many times and immensely valued most of them. A few got pretty dark, but that’s life. My brother however tripped with me three seperate times (he really wanted to feel the positive effects) but every time it fucked him up into a psychotic state (fortunately he was catatonic so couldn’t really physically harm himself or others). A few years and many panic attacks later and he’s seemingly returned to normal.
@@void3886 it should be a no-brainer that my comment comes with a self-evident caveat that anyone with susceptibility to psychosis should never consume hallucinogenics. Hell, my partner and I share many similar music tastes and interests but I would never even suggest she drops acid with me because her sister is bipolar and there's history of psychosis in her family. But if you have the physiological composition that allows you to safely consume psychedelics along with a personal history of safe and gradual exploration, I stand by my comment wholeheartedly: drop a heroic dose of LSD and listen to this song in its entirety at the peak, and you will completely rethink how you consume music and noise.
First time I heard this album I was like "Come on. It's so pretentious. Just Nirvana extended for lots of minutes."
Now I am melting for this thing.
Does anyone know what the background chant is?
The odd synth or whatever added in the groove sounds really similar to Beefheart's Bat Chain Puller
Bat Chain. Puller. Puller Puller.
Would love to hear a collab between Swans and Nine Inch Nails.

Anyone else get a sort of incel vibe from this song? Not in a cringy way, but rather an actual exploration of feelings of inescapable sexual frustration, loneliness, rejection, and above all bitterness and hatred towards the rest of society and its love-filled bliss that you will never be a part of. It fits with the way the whole song sort of seems to descend gradually into ever-greater madness and insanity. Here's some of my reasoning:
"Pink little lamb, a granite slab" -Feelings of vulnerability in harsh circumstances
"Black chasm creeping, forever leaking" -Unending depression eating up your life
"Oh universe, sing in reverse" -Everything feels backwards
"Oh sucking lung, will never come. Forever loving, forever waiting!" Feelings of unconsummated need, unattainable sexual gratification, and unrequited love.
"Oh yeah, the universal MIYIYIAAAAAGAGGGHHHHe82308ry3rghaieregv22.. "
How everyone else seems to be exactly the same in the way they think and act towards you (dismissive and uncaring).
Then there's the vast list inescapable feelings that ultimately ends with "forever leaving" because love and fulfillment are ultimately fleeting and ephemeral.
I think the chanting towards the ending is "so far, so many miles to go" indicating that no matter how far you've come, your wants are always out of reach.
tl;dr this song is my life. rip
no
Also "You fucking people make me sick"
I get what you're saying but you can fuck until your eyes pop out and still feel this way. So nothing necessarily to do with incels. It's basically human desire. Always wanting more, being a slave to desire, being a slave to an unattainable feeling. I think his lyrics often deal with this sentiment. But I don't think it's self-pitying. Like he feels oppressed in the human body. Not in a sad, defeatist way but in a way that's looking to conquer or at least overcome those feelings.

Sometimes maybe it's good to take it in on a subconscious level without analysing the crap out of every word and nuance in the song?
