    Happy Holidays and thank you to viewers and patrons through ‘another’ uncertain year. What I know for certain - is that connections through respect, kindness and appreciation continues to save the some form of humanity. See you in the New Year!

    I just stumbled onto this... what a cool and different technique than most of what I'm seeing presented. Thanks sharing both the results and the overview of your process. I'm just getting started and I'm already getting ideas of different ways to use this, but then I have to remind myself to slow down and learn the basics first! :D

    Hi. Verne, I absolutely adore your fall leaves, being from north western Maine ( Gods Country). If I had a nickel for everyone who stopped in front of my house for photos I’d be a millionaire. Lol. Now living in Fl I absolutely miss the foliage season and your leaves bring it all back to life. I do have a question and it is how do you mount those gorgeous leaves to your frames. I’d love to try one in my kiln here in Fl and what a statement piece they are.

    • @verneorlosk6018
      @verneorlosk6018 2 роки тому

      The frames are shadow boxes and the leaf forms are adhered to the background glass. Allowing light to pass from back to front of framing.

    very nice piece! what's the purpose of putting those pieces of glass tubes on the powder? my guess would be to create the holes on the leaf, but the right side had a large hole and didn't have a piece on it.

    • @verneorlosk6018
      @verneorlosk6018 4 роки тому +1

      Hello Jeff - the little round glass pieces are solid as opposed to the powders. They are cut pieces of cane or millefiori. They contain multiple colors that add organic looking 'spots' on the 'leaves'. The holes are create by an intentional low level of glass powder that retracts in the firing process. Thank you for your interest!

  • @joelongstaff7601
    @joelongstaff7601 4 роки тому

    Is it possible to fuse the leaves to a sheet of glass. I am thinking of a glass installation where leaves could be fused to larger sheets to form border peaces.

    • @verneorlosk6018
      @verneorlosk6018 4 роки тому

      Short answer yes, but a quicker and easier method for that might be (to search) the 'powder wafer' technique. thank you

  • @abeduenas6960

    When you put it in the kiln the second time to slumo it. What temp do you use? And how do you keep it from cracking when you heat it the secknd time? Do you have to anneal it?

    • @verneorlosk6018
      @verneorlosk6018 4 роки тому

      I do use a ‘slump’ firing which includes annealing. Top temperature reaches 1235F. If you’re experiencing cracks it may be firing to fast. Thank you for your interest and feel free to email with questions.
