Old Catweazle is teaching us the oscilloscope. How instructive that is!

Carrot, is that you? I have lost touch with you so long ago...
Sadly I am still hiding with Toad in your timeline. I am in fear of discovery by the Normans, so please keep this to the breast. My discoveries continue but I am no closer to returning to my time.

Thank you so much Stuart. Talk about relating. I remember getting a strobe light and black light on the same day during a trip from Detroit to Chicago with my mom. I think the fluorescent Hendrix poster was next. I've always wanted to play with an oscilloscope but could never justify buying one. Cash isn't so much an issue now and after your analogies I think I'm ready for a new beginner toy. I've made small little solar led boards and it would be fun to actually see the wave forms.

Nice that you kept your older analog scope to start the training and did a compare/contrast with the newer, digital one. I still have my Heathkit IO-17 I built in college but use a Rigol DS1054 for normal work. 73, Robert

      Hi Robert,
Wow, an IO-17? There's a classic. The Rigol is a nice scope. Do you use the decoder much?

@@AG6AG Stu, the scope is so feature rich that I haven't been able to use many of its functionality so far. Just after I bought it, a Tektronix TDS 460a was listed on eBay for a good price and I bought it. Then I bought the Rigol DSA 705 and have been playing with all of them. Of course, I had to get the nano VNA and nano SA. So much equipment to play with ( and then there is my 12 tube testers and thousands of tubes that need sorting, testing, boxing and storing). With community activities such as the Ventura Marathon starting up again, I've had to put many of my electronic projects on the back burner. Hopefully I will get back to the scopes soon. Thanks for these equipment videos, they help rekindle my interest in basic electronics once again. 73, Robert KM6RSS
