    Thank you for the review of the Hantek. I've been considering purchasing one next month for my Electronics Laboratory Bench. I'm sorry, I made a terrible mistake... I originally purchased a Fnirsi oscilloscope. I now know that there is no such thing as a 100Mhz oscilloscope with a built in signal generator for $183.00. I also learned that never buy a $20.00 multi meter. Spend at least $45.00 ish.

    I've had the same Hantek scope for about a year and I'm very happy with it and the other low cost Chinese gear making entry level test equipment available to hobbyists like me. I'm getting back into valve radios so I'm taking advantage of all the inexpensive products. I'm also looking for a Hameg 307 like yours, you sold me on them!! It looks like a great little all around analog but finding one in the States is proving a challenge. I'm keeping my eyes open!! I've had a 2D42 for six months and I use it all the time. Another nice Hantek offering!! Thanks for the info you present, I enjoy your videos and look forward to more. Regards, Tim.

    I have the same scope and you can use a usb UART and hook 3 wires to the bord and change the model number and you get a free 200mhz upgrade. There’s tons of how to’s on here. It took 30 minutes to do. Almost forgot new probes. They eliminated the wobble when I did the upgrade. I did get set of Tektronix probes for it. Also have a Tek 2232 crt scope. Probably my favorite to use. I like the old one. I do use the Hantek more because it doesn’t weigh 30+ pounds and it has all the nifty math and many other functions my crt scope lacks. It’s my daily use scope. The tek use to be before I got that little jewel. My crt scope is actually a digital scope but it is limited to storing wave forms no auto set button. But I can tell a difference in my mental math skills. Used it constantly with the old one and now there is no need for it and like they say u loose it if you don’t use it. I can still do it but not instantly like I once could. Love the channel. First time watcher and have subscribed.

      I assume it doesn't alter the sampling rate from 1GSa/s to 2GSa/s though or does it? Or does it just widen the bandwidth of the front end of the scope to 200MHz and stay at 1GSa/s sampling? Any links to the procedure please? Also do you know if both channels on the as bought scope are sampled at 1GSa/s or is it 500MSa/s and 500MSa/s?

    Really enjoyed the vid. I have the 5102 and I think again for the price it's just great, I believe it's also quite easy to upgrade (software) to take it to 200 meg. I think Hantek take some beating at this end of the market, I've had mine for just over a year and it's been totally reliable, as a starter scope I don't think it can be beaten, I am like you no 'expert', it has so far done all I ask of it, please keep the vids. coming they are giving much to lots of people, many, many thanks for all your work and efforts.

How do I customize the measurement selections in the Measure menu, specifically to turn off the measurements I don't need. • @CAsCurryKitchen
    @CAsCurryKitchen 3 роки тому +1

    I would have liked to see you testing the bandwidth with a square wave, or even a triangle wave to see at what frequency it effectively becomes useless due to signal distortion. That's more real life than just sine waves as there's more to signal reproduction than just sine bandwidth. The group delay is as important as the bandwidth for example as even if the bandwidth were infinite, if the group delay is out, there will still be signal distortion. Maybe another short video?
    Also something weird going on at 15.42 where you increase the timebase. The amplitude jumps back to 1V so that and all subsequent readings, and consequently your conclusion as to the bandwidth of the scope, are suspect.
    Thanks for the video though as I'm considering getting this as a "toy" scope for everyday use.

    • @LockdownElectronics
      @LockdownElectronics  3 роки тому

      I am planning to do a bit of a scope comparison at some point, I will try and include you suggestions, thank you!

      I empathise with your concerns. It's certainly a more risky purchase route, all be it with a cheaper price tag.
      I don't see too many really negative reviews about poor customer service on Banggood, working on the principle that there must be plenty of folk (me included) who are happy with their items and have not placed any kind of review, I imagine the overall service is positive.

    Wobble is from the interpolation, sinx/x. Sinus test is the most easiest then. I don't know if you can put the scope into the dot mode, or linear interpolation? There would be no sinus anymore. So, yeah, at those frequencies and low number of samples we get a made up signal. Then I would rather say they could use those old tricks from 80's and 90's like Time Equivalent Sampling or Random Sampling...

    Very interesting. I have no experience with an oscilloscope - but I do have an amateur interest in midi - (analog synths etc) and also I need to have my old motorized Meade telescope repaired. I am sending off one of the motors to a guy who can repair it - which he says can be tricky and needs an o-scope to do. So - I can just about solder and have a better soldering kit turning up plus soldering mat, multimeter etc. All this preamble is to ask - is this suitable for an absolute beginner? I gather that a lot of these imports may be good equipment marred by poor documentation. Do you have a link to a good generic scope primer?

I have just bought a multimeter - actually I didn't realise it was a clamp meter. I won't return it but may have to still look at multimeters. Just part watched your review on multimeter and clamp meter. So - I'll understand if you are too busy re this - but - can I ask you if a multimeter can check if an op-amp is working correctly. And does op-amp need to be "powered"?
      My motorized telescope does not move on it's North/South axis. By process of elimination, it might be the L2724 op amp on the main board. I am totally clueless how to check this out, although I will be sending parts for repair - this may be a decent way to learn something.
