Then again, talking about middle eastern and levantine dishes as definitely belonging to one or the other "nation" is quite stupid since the modern concept of nations wasn't a thing roughly a century ago, plus those regions have historically been under the reign of multi ethnic and multi cultural states that stretched the entire region and beyond - like the Abbasids, the Seljuks and the Ottomans. Theor ghee itself was diff. in taste wen I had that box of different shapes and taste of that roasted vermicelli pista sweet my uncle bought back from Saudi Arabia Wow, still yearned for it When I was in Oman I used to have Omani Halwa once in a while...I couldn't devode which was bettr after I had that vermicelli sweet...but I dun think I had any sweet cheese in between those
