Shop looks great!! I don’t think most people understand the difficulty of maintaining order on a homestead where you’re raising 5 children. It’s childcare, school, jobs, hobbies, sports, recreation… they spend almost all of their waking hours on this homestead. I’d say they’re doing a fantastic job at staying on top of everything. I’m so excited for your move into the beautifully remodeled home - well deserved!
Hi Rhodes'. I'm a retired gardener. At work we had many, many tools. We used peg board to hang them but we then took a permanent marker and outlined each tool. When you used it you could see the outline of where it was suppose to go back. God bless your new home.
Jonah is so creative and likes cleaning and building much more than hard labor! He is fast becoming Justin's boss lol
I am unreasonably excited for you guys to be in that house! I can't wait to see the processing of animals and veggies in that new kitchen
Me too! Can't wait to see what life is like living the dream! Love ya'll. What a beautiful legacy.
Bless Annie!! She is excellent!!
Where did they find her? What the story?
Makes the low spots for Henry’s tools. It’s good training. 🥰🥰🥰
Hey, it’s a great safety measure to pull all the way in the blade in the tablesaw when is not used. Safer for humans, protects the blade. Don’t leave it in the cut position. In my opinion.
Yeah, Gideon sitting on and caressing the blade -- I'm like, is that thing L.O.T.O. 😳
Cause that's pretty sketch young man
My mama taught me “handle it once”. It saved me many a trip.
Labor Day was last weekend, y'all are already in the Dream House!
"Stay in your labelmaker lane", Rebecca will not forget that comment. 😀😅
I love the organizing videos. And the new home tours. I pretty much love all your videos
Don't forget, you will need a pegboard for your garden tools, shovels, and hoses.
Oh my GOSH!!!! You mean that while we're watching this on 9/6 you are ALREADY in the house???
Jonah was smart on the stripes behind the peg board. Justin I am with you on putting the peg board horizontal. The shop looks great.
G greetings from Northeast Ohio. I’m so glad you’re cleaning up the shop before moving day. You have to be organized before moving day in order to move in and stay organized. The only way your family is going to succeed is to put things away when you’re done with it. I hope you all try hard. Your life will be so much easier. Especially for you Justin, who measures everything in time.
PS. Please, no playing in the hay. I know it’s fun, until………
The house looks beautiful! Can't wait for the grand tour after you move in. It was fun seeing the kid cam in the hay! We did the same thing when I was little....so many, many years ago. Just be careful it doesn't collapse on you, like it did on my friend. That was scary. But, it was so much fun! Thanks for sharing.
Running out of meds sucks. Glad you found them.
Dehydrate the apples to where they are not dried out all the way. We store in mason jars and have apple snacks till next apple season. Along with apple butter, and pie filling and spiced apples
When they were doing the initial planning, I believe Rebecca said they were going to get a freeze dryer, too.
6 days left! ..The pumpkin 'tunneling' looks so pretty.. the shop and lighting looks so nice.. : )
I hope all went well on your move yesterday. I can’t wait to see your video about it!
I would love to see truth cam commentaries of the children about their lives and parents. I bet it would be hilarious.
Good call, Jonah! Pegs have to have room behind the pegboard 😊
That is a beautiful looking wall. I do agree with Justin. Having the tools higher off the floor. No one wants to reach down to put tools away down low. 😊❤
Shop is looking great. Hi there from Queensland Australia, with the tool plug board once you put the tools in the place you want them take a marker pen and trace the tool so you can take a glance look and know what is missing. Thanks for the videos.
One of the hardest things to learn is to save time if you use it put it back where it should be each and every time.
Put whatever you have in a certain place where it should be it should go and teach it to your children they learned from you.
I agree with Justin on the height of pegboard. My next place I will put it as high as I can reach comfortably with my RA.
As long as I’ve watched y’all, I’ve never been able to keep things organized
If you use those week pill cases you always know if you are low they also help to make sure you took your pill (s). Dehydrated apples are terrific too.
I recall that phrase as, "A place for everything, and everything in its place." Good luck. I'm still trying to make a place for everything.
I saw Becky on Seasonal homestead to chalkboard painted peg board and then use chalk to draw the outlines. Looked really cool and you can erase if you don't like it.
Lilly scared me with her video of the hay fort. That is extremely dangerous. It can fall and suffocate them and by the time you realize they were missing, it would be too late. Build a bigger tree fort, I’m sure your older brothers would love to build it.
Can't wait to see the before and after of the house!🏡
I love secret spaces!
The house is looking awesome but I shudder to think of how much you have spent on it. It will hopefully serve you for many years.
im in a wheelchair and because i have workers coming 2 times a week and i literally can say go to my fridge and on point x is on this shelf or go into my bdrm and get this from x spot i cant have clutter or disorganized areas it works for me hugssssss
I think you need to pick up an extra bottle of all important meds. If you pay out of pocket the pharmacy will usually let you order extra. I know nothing about thyroid meds but we keep extra BP meds on hand for my husband. You never know when the supply chain will break down.
Justin, the Master Burner of the Burn It Up Cooking Show, has a lot of nerve telling Rebecca to stay in her lane! LOVE the peg board, the only thing missing is the outlines of the tools.
5:48 henry takes up literally 1ft cubed, bless his lil soul
My grandkids love the dehydrated apples!
I agree with only putting tools up higher lol the old mind in me. I don't want to bend over either. Plus good chance the chiltlens get ahold of your tools. Whatever you do make it nice for you, easy to put stuff up. Even making it "pretty" can help. Staying organized is one of the hardest things to do. I'm still working on it daily. Bad habits like putting things down or in a basket/box. I just end up with boxes of junk to go through later. I feel ya on all that. Your getting it done though.
I always enjoy seeing you and your family’s videos you have awesome family. Praying for your mother-in-law and all the family while you’re going through this difficult time.
Leaf blower to blow out the outside spaces!! Chefs kiss
Beautiful home rebuild. The lighting is really great
Jonah was right about the slats behind the pegboard. Dad was right about the height of the pegboard. 😉
I grew up with my mother saying "don't put it down put it away"! As I watched this episode it made me cry... my mom passed away in February! Then I laughed... I hear it as clear as if she was standing here! Lol
No one ever puts things away .. in the barn, where equipment is parked, front porch, the shop😵💫🥴
I have know idea how anything gets completed..
It will be very interesting how this Dream House is after a month or two..🤷🏼♀️
you and me both
Realizing that 6 days from when this was shot means you're in the house now! Yahoo! How excited you must be!
Keeping tools easily accessible within sightlines. Working smarter not harder.. 🤓💪
"Stay in your label-maker lane." LOLOL
I would have put the peg board vertically and set up the bottom section for little kid toys and play tools!!
Please be careful with the kids' fort in the hay bales. Each one weighs at least 40 lbs. I can't imagine what the weight of a whole house of those would be caving in on them. I know such a downer but could really hurt/kill someone if they all fell on them. 🙏❤😐
Make Sharpie shapes underneath the tools, so everyone knows what goes where. And you will see it easily when something is missing.
Maybe consider sealing your new concrete in front of the door below the house to prevent stains it looks so good. Things are looking great!
Looking a little better looking forward to seeing it finished
You should get a drop ceiling for the shop. It would look way better on film.
I love apples...❤❤
Jason, you have smart children who are independent thinkers, fixers and solvers!!
JUSTIN
Who’s Jason?
I love Ingles, one of favorite places to shop.I would love to have a shop like that, right now most of my tools are scattered every where.
🙋🏼♀️🕊……it goes like this. (. You have IT in your Hand Put it where it belongs ); Now you can tell him as the lady of the house to stay in his lane when he starts taking over the Kitchen Lol Blessings to the family 🙋🏼♀️🕊💞🕊💞🕊💞🕊
Jonah, use a leaf blower to help clean outside areas.
Can you explain why it's okay for the bales to be broken. Is this eating hay or bedding hay?? I would be nervous about collapsing bales burying kiddos. Love an organized work area. Nothing is more annoying than to spend two hours looking for a tool, only to find it after THE trip to Ace hardware. . . lol.
Happy Days 💚
Justin although I love your passion for building for your kiddos, do you really think they all will live together when they are married with families. You are putting a lot of pressure on the kids to live your dream. Let them live theirs. I’m saying this as a 67 year old woman. I’m a widow and wanted my kiddos to live with me. I’ve learned I had to let go and let them do their dreams. I’m say this with love in my heart. I’m trying to protect your heart. 🥰
They'll need the farm as a home in this new world. The old world is GONE!❤
Amen!!!❤️❤️❤️
Greetings from Northeast Ohio. I’m at 75-year-old widow. Been watching Justin since Mr. Brown was a baby. Justin used to dumpster dive. Look where he is now. The kids will do fine in whatever world is given to them.
They have 3 houses on the farm. Who says they can't build more?
When did you get that job?
"Stay in your label making lane". lol.
Beautiful work on barn .
Make apple butter too. I make regular, apple pie apple butter and caramel apple butter.
The Amish recipes for Apple pie filling are the best. You may need to get some cook-type gel from Leymans. It is harder than it seems without it,
Dehydrated apple chips slice thin and dry and store great snacks...
Peg board should be at the top no lower than three fit off the floor bastis 4 feet off the floor that way you can put benches underneath it if you have to or if you change your mind And pegboard should be painted on both sides because it likes to suck up moisture and after it gets moist it is no good
It was a cacophony of chaos and out-shouting one another. I have a headache now.
The Japanese taught us kaizen when I worked for Subaru. The art of continuous improvement.
Dehydrated apples are the best!
Organization does not seem to be a strong trait in Justin. He has such a hard time putting things away in their proper place. So as good as the shop looks now, I don't think it will stay that way. However, I know he has a tremendous amount of work to do to keep the homestead going and he does that very well. Perhaps one of the boys could be assigned organization duty once a week.😊
Gideon is growing up so fast!!!!
under you pegboard, how about building shelving that would hold three or for rows of crates for your small power tools, bins for nails, etc. a shelving over the crate portion will be handy also.
Please show us a video of the shop in a month
You should look into Slat Wall. We just got rid of all our peg boards and installed ProSlat Slat Wall.
Will you finish the ceiling in the shop?
Justin and Rebecca, please, Please, PLEASE do not let the kids play under the bales of hay! It can be deadly!
Yeah my cousin was crushed and died when he was a little boy from hay bales collapsing on him😢
this has been pointed out many times about the small bale stack and the large bales as well. I don't think anyone reads the comments - i have repeatedly pointed out the waste of milk when they just pull the cream (leaving whole 3-4% milk) and throw it out since they think it's skim milk (less than 1%)
You don't play with the food! Yours or someone else's! 😱
@@GetToTheFarmyes!! Raw milk even with the cream skimmed off the top has more fat than grocery store whole milk does!
Did anyone notice the mice/rats running around in the hay when the kids were in there playing? My worry would be hantavirus.
Justin's right on the pegboard wall. You'll end up putting things down low in front of it anyways. Like workstations and tables
Why am I so amazed by the number of people, in the comments, who insist on telling other's how to live?
Lily and Josiah voices sound the same 😮what wonderful family you have ❤😅
Seeing your kid play with that electric saw blade almost gave me a heart attack … jeez
I'm with you Justin. Not low. Lol
You can make dried apples and apple leather.
Cant believe you dont grow apples. So easy to grow. What about pears, plums etc. An orchard is the first thing homesteaders plant.
Is Gideon certain that table saw is not plugged in 🔌 ???!??!! Ay!
❤
Jonnah you would be better off picture framing the pegboard and consider using some magnetic tool holders instead of the wire clips where possible those wire holders get caught too often and are a pain sometimes.
I hate to have to ask the obvious question, but here goes. Why didn't you call the pharmacy before you made the trip into town? It could have saved you an unnecessary trip. 🤔
A place for everything and everything in its place! It’s hard, but a little discipline goes a long way. I totally understand, y’all have a lot going on, but still… y’all need to work on your organizational skills.
Also bend down not over
You are cutting it fine - minimun of 72 hours after the last coat before you can put furniture on the newly polished floors or the weight of the furniture will leave a mark/dent in the poly (that won't come out) - walking on it with sock not a problem, it's the weight of the furniture
Would y'all be willing to share where you buy your apples from? We live in NC and plan to travel to the mountains soon to buy apples.
If I were to film my life this is what I would do! Inspirational
Real life!
So many critics. They are living as they want to. He has NEVER once said his kids have to stay on the farm and live there. He is a father and he would like his kids close by. But he knows it may be different.
much easier to put IT away if it has a place it belongs. Post house fire we have chosen to live with much less-the most important things only- and they all have homes. It may not come in the house unless it has a home.
I really like the familly but lattely Is hard to me to keep UP with the blogs, to fast, to rapid, to chaotic
Don't you have screens on the windows to keep flys out? We couldn't be without fly screens on our windows & doors in Australia
2:36
I 'm sitting on my living room, looking at 4 small bags of cat litter right in front of me ...
I loved watching this guys videos on how to homestead and live off the land. I just started myself and can't wait until raising chickens gets me enough money to travel across the country in my custom RV and have a brand new house built as well.
😅
