When I was 4 years old, I watched this tape all the time. It was all I knew. My parents had the VHS tape. I always thought Cyclone was so interesting (and Thunderbolt) and I always wanted to ride it. Well, I'm 29 now and I just got my wish. I rode the Cyclone yesterday and I've got photos to prove it!
@@DAOzz83 Scary-but not for the reason you think! I actually wound up growing up to be 6ft 11in, so I kept ducking the whole time so I wouldn’t lose my head. The ride operators insisted I’d be safe riding. They had to put me in the rearmost seat, alone, since it has more legroom. And I had to cross my legs. But I did it!
I’m sure that in the last (nearly) 100 years, at _least_ a few guys over Seven Foot have made their way down to the Cyclone. But it sounds like it was quite a ride for you!
this tape was the reason y i am so obsessed with roller coasters to today, every detail of this tape from start to finish and i was like 8 at the time!
Like many others I had this VHS as a kid. I was probably 11 or 12. Wore the tape out and still a coaster fanatic to this day! Thank you for the upload!
My mother, father, and sister rode the Big Bad Wolf in 2003. I was not born yet, and never had a chance to ride it. While I commend Busch's efforts to revive the Wolf, they should have kept it in the first place. Looks like it was a hot damn awesome ride.
I had this VHS , bought it at KINGS ISLAND , along with a video of K.I. coasters THE BEAST , VORTEX , KING COBRA and RACER .. LOVE watching these old park videos , NO CELL PHONES , OUT DATED CLOTHING , SIGNS SAYING HAMBURGERS AT $4.00 NOT $20.00 DRINKS $2.50 NOT $10
The end credits song popped into my brain just now, and it took me half an hour to remember that it was from this video, and then I searched UA-cam for it and sure enough, someone had uploaded the whole tape! This is the first time I've watched this since the 90's and I was surprised how much I remembered.
I SWEAR, at the job I've been at for a year now, come February, I heard them play THAT song during my first week and I was desperate to find out if there were actual words to it, yet it took over 2 months after I first heard it play. It WAS slightly different from it, and after catching the main chorus of the song, turns out Madonna had a song out in the 80s called "Dress You Up in My Love" that I'm 99% sure HAD to be their inspiration for that music. There's enough differences that the credit music here DEFINITELY wasn't a direct copy...but the dinging/chiming is DEFINITELY taken from her song.
Heh, old comment, but; I’m not surprised! People are calling it cheesy, but it’s really a well put together little production. Script, presentation, visuals, music, editing; It’s all very straightforward, but with just enough flair to keep it interesting, and it comes together quite well. All in all, it’s not surprising it managed to worm it’s way into your brain; It certainly did mine!
I watched this VHS so many times. I don’t remember the hosts being so corny 😂 I have been obsessed with rollercoasters and this certainly potentiated my obsession. Must have watched this hundreds of times.
I rode Batman The Ride for the first time in my life when I was 9. It wasn't the one from Magic Mountain, actually it was the on in St. Louis, but it was still Batman all the same. I never forgot that day, truly one of America's Greatest.
@@bryanterry1111 Hey there's nothing wrong with what you said....it's actually quite true!! Of course MOST of our sources of annoyance before we were 14 or 15 seem petty and overdramatic in hindsight, and I'm no exception...I just view it as a sign that my childhood was positive and good enough that the stuff that upset, annoyed, or angered were far more petty (and I, therefore, far more overdramatic) than ACTUAL issues people experience in life!! I would imagine if I had lived in severe poverty or was a victim of child sexual abuse, the idea of Arrow Dynamics (and every subsequent steel coaster company after) changing their lift system so it didn't make the loud, infamous "Arrow chain lift clanking noise" that I enjoyed SO much as a kid (living about a 5 minute drive from Kennywood meant my family was there MANY times every year, even before they started having season passes...I would ACTUALLY stand near the Steel Phantom, and then Phantom's Revenge, listening to it in sheer awe...as if it were a damn concert!! I get super embarrassed thinking about it now @ 29 years old, especially because I did it whether I was with family or friends!! But again, I'm glad THAT was my obsession, and I never needed to focus on finding a loving family or something!
You are awesome for uploading this! This was one of my top favorite VHS tapes to watch when I was little! My home park is Kings Island, and my family has also been visiting Cedar Point since the 80s!
I finally got to ride Iron Dragon at Cedar Point and it’s fantastic. I’m just a bit sad that Big Bad Wolf and DF aren’t things any more. I know DF had a reputation, but still, that coaster had one hell of a design. I’d love to see an RMC raptor remake!
i actually got to ride Big Bad Wolf before it shut down, it ry was as epic as they come! wish i could say the same for Drachen Fire... it looked like fun
I watched this all the time as a kid and later as an adult watched Rick Steves all the time on PBS. I'm just now putting it together that they're the same guy and it's blowing my mind!
Crazy to watch this now and see what is and isn't still in operation. Lets see: Viper- Operating but I've heard its gotten rough over the years Batman- Operating and with fresh paint job. Honestly I think the blue track looks better Mean Streak-Now the giant RMC hybrid Steel Vengeance Magnum XL 200-Operating Raptor- Of course its still in operation, its one of the best inverts ever Beast-Operating, duh Top Gun- Now known as Flight Deck Texas Giant- Now the New Texas Giant, the RMC hybrid that started it all Kumba- Still operating Big Bad Wolf- RIP :'( I still haven't forgiven them for removing the best suspended coaster, I never got a chance to ride it. Drachen Fire- One of the most infamous defunct coasters ever Thunderbolt- Still going strong Steel Phantom- Now the non-looping Phantom's Revenge with a much smoother ride experience Cyclone- The landmark coaster is still operating, but it did almost get torn down back in the 70's
Well I have ridden 9 roller coasters that were on the video or dvd of this. I've ridden both Viper and Batman the ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain, Mean Streak, Magnum XL 200 and Raptor at Cedar Point, Beast at Kings Island, Kumba at Busch Gardens Tampa, Big Bad Wolf at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and Cyclone at Coney Island in Brooklyn New York.
The coasters I've ridden in this video are Magnum XL 200, Raptor, and Mean Streak at Cedar Point, Kumba at Busch Gardens Tampa, and Batman the Ride, but at Saint Louis and not at Magic Mountain, still the same type of ride and still great all the same.
@@kyleeaton2660 Ok so basically that is a mirror image of Batman the ride so my advice is you should head to southern California and try their version of Batman the ride unlike the one at Six Flags St. louis that you mentioned.
@@zacharyelder349 Already did that a few years ago. Even though the St Louis one is a mirror image, it's still the same one in California. Which reminds me, I have now added Viper to my list as well.

Funny how a number of these "greatest american coasters" featured are disliked. Viper has a reputation of being unbearably bumpy, Magnum 200 is thought to be boring and unpleasant, and Mean Streak has a reputation of being one of the worst coasters ever made. Also, how do you base the program at Magic Mountain and not mention Colossus?
It’s easy to say they are disliked now but when then video came out they weren’t quite as rough and coaster enthusiasts weren’t as fortunate as we are today to have so many more designers that specifically take into account the smoothness of a ride. Watching this right now brings me back to being 8 and watching this day and night. Formed my childhood.

In roller coaster tycoon 3 only!
