My only complain about the video is that Konrad never embraced chaos, he didn't rebelled because of chaos's temptations but because he went insane from his visions and he let himself got killed because he saw it as vindication of his monsterous ways.

A fun detail that I believe has been retconned about the Heresy is that Horus found out how the Emperor had ordered the Thunder Warriors killed when he no longer needed them, and realized not just that the same could happen to them, but that it would happen to their legions, their sons. I always liked that being a part of why he turned away, not for power, but for love of his sons
Interesting point of view.
But as a primarch with a super-genius-level intellect, he should've been able to see the main shortcomings of such a generalist comparison of the Thunder Warriors to Big E's later creations:
1. The Thunder Warriors were a short-term solution to a short-term goal: the unification of Terra.
2. If the emperor hadn't killed off the physically and mentally unstable Thunder Warriors, said warriors would've died painful disease-ridden premature deaths anyways.
3. Killing off your own galaxy-spanning army of loyal, long-lived, highly effective super-soldiers is... Well, just plain unfeasible. Even for the emperor.
4. It would make way more sense to use them as experienced long-term sentinels of the coming galactic peace.
@@epaminon6196 Read the Master of Man kind Book.
they make mention about how uncannily well the Custodes are able to Kill Marines, and Everyone gives the whole.... " shhh yeah.. uhuh.. dont worry about it."
@@epaminon6196this.
The Primarchs were also meant as a stable source code for their gene seed so they had proper longevity considered beforehand unlike the TW.
Also, the first born served for 10,000+ years for good and ill so fair play to ‘em.
Sounds good until you look at the first act of the heresy, Isstvan III
the Horus heresy doesnt make sense given that primarchs and space marines are meant to be super geniuses not just soldiers and regular humans @@ShahbazBokhari
I keep re-reading the first couple Horus Heresy books. And despite already knowing the outcome. I always secretly hope that Horus pulls through and refuses chaos. I guess that just shows how great of a character he is.
I do the same for Magnus.
I think in part that was why the latter parts of the "emperor with the text-to-speech" hooked me so well. It provided a version of 40K that appeal to those of us who enjoy "HopePunk" if you will over GrimDark. It was a version of the story that could produce a potentially satisfying happy ending of a sort.
Honestly I think that's going to end up being, if it isn't already, a major disconnect with the fanbase. Some people want the nihilistic grimdark there is only War i.e there are no good guys and everyone's doomed concept and other fans would like to see potentially happy endings and success for the characters they invest in.
More than a few people get brought into 40K via stories with more good vs Evil and potential Redemption and Mankind can maybe work through its problems and Triumph over the evil gods ect. I'm thinking stuff like the mentioned fan UA-cam series but also certain video game plots or individual books.
It also reminds me somewhat of "death of the author". Like even if the clear intention of the IP holders for fictional lore want it to be one way, that's not going to stop some fans from wanting something else or enjoying the headcanon of it being something different more than the official stuff.
You can see that in almost every major fandom. Not to try and drag up the issues but just look at the author of Harry Potter versus a not unsizable portion of the existing fan base as one more recent example.
I really like how much they humanized him and made him a genuine hero that was misled and fell upon a doomed path. I like that about a few of the primarchs (Angron, Magnus, and Lorgar for instance).
I also like that the Big E may not be the heroic messiah he is worshipped as, that he may actually be (as tyrants typically are) the actual villain.
@@BladedEdge123 Honestly as a WH40k fan, it would be nice to see a finale one day where humanity can find some semblance of peace, the elder no longer a doomed race, and the tau empire released from the Ethereals. I know Chaos may be a constant threat even then, but it will be a far better universe without the Tyranids, Ork warbands, and Drukhari slavers (in this instance serving Yvraine and cutting off Slaanesh).

It's worth remembering that Emperor had a deal with the Chaos Gods in order to create the Primarchs, and scattering is partially due to Emperor breaking said deal.
What was the deal?
depending on what version of the creation of the primarchs you go with.
Lmao, my sweet boy... In the grim darkness of the far future there is no canon.
According to corrupted and deceived Horus and the chaos gods themselves, who may or may not have tried to make the emperor (or Horus) part of their pantheon. I.E. the dark king “theory”. (The dark king in recent Horus heresy books, not the short story)
The Emperor never made a deal with the Chaos Gods but rather the Warp itself.
The thing about primarchs, is that they bring human nature to the very extremes, be they good or bad.
We can see the most extreme forms of virtues in the Khan, fighting for a father he does not love against a brother he does, because he gave an oath.
But then we also have the most extreme of incompetency in Mortarion, a primarch, with all his power, bested and bamboozled by his own first captain, right under his nose.
It is what makes them such interesting characters.
Lorgar undermined by his own well-meaning but blind faith. Angron bitter for being denied a honorable death at the side of the only people he ever loved as family. Magnus undone by his great intellect but innocent naivete. Peturabo undone by sadness, bitterness, his own temper and brutality, and the absolute worst PTSD imaginable. Curze was literally jumping at the very shadows he inhabited and terrorized by the horror he allowed himself to become, tortured by glimpses of a future he couldn't accept that he had brought upon himself. Fulgrim was trapped by his arrogance and vanity and hidden insecurity (as narcissists often are).
Etc.
Each of them was a different shade of the folly of men.

Only got into 40k about a year ago and if anyone hasn't read the Horus Heresy I found it a good jumping off point to start absorbing the lore. It's really great book series and the siege of terra is absolutely beautiful. In the grim darkness or the far future there is only lore....
For me I started with Gaunt's Ghosts 1-4, Eisenhorn 1-3, HH White Scars 3 books, Ciaphas Cain & Short Stories, Siege of Terra 1-8.1 except Mortis... you get the point hahaha
Yeah bought them all but the only one had a bad reviews mortis I didn't like my first Titan novel.
What's highly recommended is Lutlon, a border prints.. and Arch Warhammer. Siege of vraks. Series is legendary. Plus watch tusca demon killer That's what got me in the 40K.
That's not a good start, you should start via ciaphas cain instead so when you read the heresy it'll be more impactful
I wish I could start the lore all over...
24:40 emperor wasn’t in disguise. Sanguinius flew off into the desert where he had seen his meeting with the emperor in his visions and waited for his craft to land.
Just a short video this week to get us back into 40k
Never been so happy to learn about the primarchs for the 20th times. You got me into 40K, glad to see you back.
Oh boy oh boy. I'm gonna listen when it's time to wind down from the day. Thank you kind sir.
Hydra Dominatus! For the Emperor! Also the Head of the Hydra shows that alpharius was actually the first found.
It's a secret
Konrad basically killed himself. He had precognition, which he used to justify all the horrific shift he did. He could see that he was about to be assassinated. Rather than fight back, he accepted his death, as if he fought back it would validate the theory that his visions were not set in stone and thus didn’t justify any of the horrifying atrocities he committed.
He would rather die than admit he was wrong and apologize, and in many ways, he was more like his father than most realize.
Your original 40k videos got me into the lore and after I listened to yours 1000 times I found Luetin who reminded me very much of your style. So happy you’ve come back to 40k, keep up the fantastic work!
My boys Jaghatai, Konrad Curze, and Perturabo getting the respect they deserve!!!
Nice to see you branching into Warhammer 40k. Love your SCP vids so I know you will do great work with 40K.
Perturabo deserves no respect.
@@alastor8091 I beg to differ my friend. Perturabo has the cleanest win/loss record of all the Primarchs. Completely out witted Royal in both the siege of Terra and the Iron cage. Is one of the few traitors to actually regret his actions before and after the heresy. Came to terms with his ego and flaws and realized he caused all of his problems.
He is a top 5 Primarch if there ever was one.
@@metabladesarchive i see. Respect for battle prowess, sure, but respect as a Primarch, person, and son, definitely not. We'll have to see if he can redeem himself fully, but as of now he's down there with Mortarion for me.
@@alastor8091 Oh I agree, Perturabo was a petulant man child for most of the Heresy. Completely ignoring his true purpose and his father's love and respect for him. But, outside of Curze and Angron, he is the only Primarch with a legit reason to have turned traitor. Big E should have taken both him and Dorn to Terra.
Alpharius (or Omegon) was actually the first to be found. The Emperor kept him a secret for years and only Malcador and Constantin Valdor knew about him. Funnily, Valdor only found out about him after Alpharius (or Omegon) enacted a fake assassination attempt on the Emperor to test the Custodes effectiveness and was only caught at the very last second by Valdor himself.
Even though I don't know much about 40K lore, Vulcan and The Salamanders have always been my favorites because of how theyre basically one of the very few truly Heroic Factions in the 40K universe

Sanguinius was an absolute beast in echoes of eternity by ADB. Can’t wait to see how the final fight with Horus goes down once that book finally comes out.
Remember that scene where he cuts a titan's head off.

Some glossed over but important details about Alpharius Omegon is he/they was the smallest of the Primarchs, barely any taller than a standard astartes, and would often wear normal marine armor to hide among their numbers. Their gene seed was also such that Alpha Legion marines often resembled their Primarch almost exactly, looking, sounding, and moving almost exactly like their gene father. Confounding matters further, one if their war cries is "I am Alpharius," all combined makes it nigh impossible to tell if any single one of them is the real Alpharius
Love that you chose that photo. It's such a perfect photo of the loyalists in grand form.
You have no idea how excited I am for this new series
Yess love your channel, so seeing you expand into all the stuff in warhammer is just the cherry on top
You don't know how long I've been waiting for this! So much lore, so little time.
I literally can’t believe how lucky I am for my favourite creator ever to cover my favourite lore universe… AGAIN! Luetin has got competition
I somewhat wish there was a primarch who didn’t join either chaos or the imperium, but mechanicus. I wonder how that design would look.
Maybe even a primarch who made a secessionist empire from the Imperium, or allied with xenos.
Yo pajamamapants jack
The Primarchs are warp entities/demigods loyal/drawn to the Emperor. On top of that, Mars was independent-not a chance.
Probably would've been Ferrus Manus considering his whole "flesh is weak" thing
@@havnoch he didn't believe that the flesh was weak, that was a part of the practices of his legion trying to emulate their father by removing their hands to mimic his own necrodermis arms. He wanted to stop his son's form doing such things and seeing being human as being weak, but he was killed before that would ever happen and the Iron Hands chapter now believe in the weakness of the flesh fervently.
Thank you for covering Warhammer 40k, can't wait to see what you cover next in the grim dark universe.
Of all the Chaos Primarchs I think Mortarion deserves a chance at redemption. By all rights he was the only Primarch who was tricked and trapped into joining Chaos and in doing so became the very things he hated and despised the most. He hated the Emperor and empire but for far more reasonable reasons than pettiness and not getting daddy's attention like the others. If anything he cared about the people of the planets he conquered probably as much as Vulkan did while the other Primarchs only cared about the planets' resources and what the empire could take from them. He was a liberator and a chain breaker, he only ever wanted to save people from bondage while the empire simply desired to replace their chains with golden shackles.
It's the height of irony that a liberator as caring as Mortarion would become an enslaver and conqueror that would've made his adoptive father absolutely proud...
As expected, you bring a great touch to the telling of the lore, amazing job as always
Awesome seeing you cover Warhammer again. Looking forward to more!

FUCK YEAH 1 HOUR VIDEO ON THR PRIMARCHS
He’s doing WH40k content again! The Emperor protects!
Alpharius was the first Primarch found. He landed on Terra and was trained by Malcador. He was there when Horus and most of the other Primarchs were found. At the end of the crusade, Omegon was found by Alpharius and decided to setup the meeting of Horus and Omegon, who was pretending to be Alpharius. Alpharius and Omegon switched places, and it is well thought that Omegon actually is the one who died. Thats if you believe the story, of course. :)

Just a tiny correction, but Magnus does not currently reign over Prospero. When he was dying at the end of the Burning of Prospero, he used the Warp to transport all the surviving Thousand Sons to the "Planet of the Sorcerors" a planet located within the Eye of Terror. And it is here that he reigns over his mad court.

Great start to a new channel my guy
My God Emperor someone Finnaly did it. THANK YOU. I got into 40k for the lore and universe building, but this, THIS! Is the level of complete and comprehensive I've not found anywhere else. Thank you
There is one error I spotted: At 51:30 you mention that the Emperor told the Ultramarines to destroy Lorgar's Project on a planet named Monarchia. Monarchia isn't the name of the planet, it is the name of Lorgar's Project (which was the capital city of a planet named Khur dedicated as a shrine to the emperor).
40k fans also usually call Jaghatai Khan either "Jaghatai" or just "the Khan".

Blue Boy was the most stable primarch as only he had a parent who truly loved him (Mommy's Boy)
Rogal Dorn was as emotional as a rock, but even he had a grand dad who adored him.
Horus also grew up with daddy E and so was one of the best primarch's, just someone who got fked over by male pattern Baldness.
Omegon also grew up with daddy E and so also remained chill despite being super weird.
Red One Eye was also quite stable as he and big E talked using big Brain energy, but man his curiosity and big Brain energy attitude fked him up.
Lion acted autistic as he had no daddy (Except Luthor but Luthor definitely didn't attend any parent-teacher meetings so he doesn't count)
Morty boy was a autistic hypocrite as he had a alien daddy who wanted to kill him.
Ferrus was virtually parent less (Necron living metal doesn't count as a parent)
Pretty boy fulgrim grew up amoung slaves who loved him but man he had to pick up a phallic looking sword 😢
Speedy Mongolian Khan also grew up parent less but grew up to be a sigma so he turned out fine.
