Mae Kheaw was a logging elephant for too many years. After that, she worked as a trekking elephant, with tourists sitting on her back. Mae Kheaw was rescued from Pai in Mae Hong Son, Thailand. It is not too far from Elephant Nature Park, but the road has many curves and passes through mountainous terrain. We have to drive slow for Mae Kheaw's safety. On arrival at theElephant Nature Park, the chain came off for good, and the rope around her neck. She immediately began to smell about her new turf, and to see who was here and what was up with this place. She went to the river, but seemed more interested in the scents from the daily dung. She focused on the feces of young elephants. She has born children who were taken from her. This may be a window into a family group for friendships yet to be. Now she is able to roam free, and spend the rest of her life in her new forever home with others of her own kind. Seeing Elephants get treated with love and respect that they deserve (that all animals deserve!) is the best feeling in the world, literally brings tears to my eyes to see them happy.

I'm so disgusted when I look at the chain around her foot, the items that were used to "control" her and the thin rope attached to her ear that looked like another method of control by inflicting pain, I don't have words for all that. What a horrible way to treat another living being. I am so very happy for her that there is no more cruel treatment and she can live in peace doing what she wants to do. Thank you all! 🐘♥️
