  • Don't leave home without one. A comparison of the InCharge X and the InCharge 6 from Rolling Square. An everyday Carry essential.
This EDC keyring charging cable can save the day if your phone battery is out of charge unexpectedly. There is often USB charging availability but if you will need a charging cable. The InCharge X is the best carry and forget option - always there for emergencies.

    Product Sourcing:
When it comes to sourcing a product for review, I will usually either purchase and item personally or reach out to a supplier requesting a sample for review. Most suppliers, after seeing the channel, are supportive if they are confident in their product, appreciating the value of greater exposure.
I am sometimes asked to review a product by a supplier which I will only agree to if the product fits the channel and I believe will be of interest to you, my audience. Also the product needs to be worthy of a review. It is not in my interest to review inferior or poor quality products and therefore as you might expect many requests are politely declined.
Any sponsored videos (paid for reviews) are clearly stated as such so there can be no misunderstanding. Even with sponsored reviews I will only agree to a sponsorship on products and services which I believe will be of genuine interest to viewers.
I will always make reference in the video to products which have been provided for review by a supplier and I always make it clear to the supplier that they cannot influence or be involved in the review in any way if they choose to supply a product.
Sometimes a supplier will provide a link to the product or the supplier which I am happy to include in the description. Sometimes I will be provided with an affiliate link so I can earn a commission on sales and this helps to support channel costs but never at the expense of an honest review.
If a product I have reviewed is available from Amazon I will often include an Amazon link in the description. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you purchase a product or service with the links that I provide I may receive a small commission. There is no additional charge to you.
    Comments:
I really appreciate the feedback in the comments - I find it a source of knowledge and inspiration - so thank you to all of you who take the time to contribute. I have recently found that if I continue to respond to all the comments as the number of videos builds, it takes time away from being able to produce new content which would be very counter productive! - so my aim is to read everything I can and reply when I can, after each video goes live, until the next video goes live a week later. I'll see how that works out 😊
Thank you for supporting the channel so I can continue to provide you with regular reviews, thoughts and ideas and (hopefully) inspiration! Please consider subscribing to keep up to date with new video releases.

I literally had this cable on my rolling square cart for almost 2 or 3 weeks. It took this video to convince me to checkout. Thank you for all the info john. By the way, i was going to buy only one unit, but that unexpected discount really helped me getting a few more as gifts for some upcoming birthdays. This is a great gift, to surprise those who already have everything :) Looking forward for that future james brand ellis knife review :p Keep up the good work! Greetings from Portugal!

That end cap NEEDS a means of retention. If not a small strap or lanyard, then another magnet to attach it to one of the cable’s existing magnets. This seems like an oversight to me.
Otherwise, good improvements, and great comparison video!

These inCharge cables have been my new favs. I previously and still use the Nomad Kevlar cables with the adapters, however with these inCharge cables I have less user error in making sure the adaptors are seated well for a good connection. Now I am just waiting on the latest kickstarter delivery for the newest inCharge cables coming in June.

I funded the original and the newest version. They are great and work amazing in a pinch. I have one stashed in every battery bank bag so I always have a charger for my devices. Even the longer 6 foot cables are very handy. I don’t have to search for different cables of I need to charge multiple devices.

It’s funny because when I saw the last review that’s what made me decide to get one of these and I ordered the in charge X honestly not even realizing that it was different than the other one. I assumed it had all the connections but for some reason I didn’t realize when I got it that it had Micro USB. I had no idea that it was part of the lightning connector so when I got it I was a little bit disappointed and just thought I was wrong or had read it wrong or something but I don’t use too many things that I would need the micro USB for. So I shrugged it off and then I just saw this video and decided I would watch it and lo and behold now I know that it actually does have USB micro! Stoked thanks

The extension part USB-C (over Lightning) on my incharge6 no longer works probably due to some dirt or pocket lint I suspect so the cover on the X is a great addition. Had my InchargeX for about 4 months and so far can't fault it so I'd say go for that one

I've had my InCharge 6 for about 6 months now. Mine doesn't seem to be able to fast charge any of my devices anymore. Do you happen to have the same problem with yours? Makes me hesitant to pick up the X. (I should clarify that my InCharge 6 is only giving me a trickle charge at this point. If I were to use my phone while it's plugged in the battery would still drain)

    • @JonGadget

I went ahead and bought one and I'm very disappointed. The MicroUSB adaptor on the InCharge X is rubbish. It only works on some devices. Just to share my experience with both inCharge 6 & X both short and long version…
I found out the hard way that the X Max does not really charge a 13” Dell laptop even at 65W, and the 6 max could not charge my ipad pro 12.9” (1st gen)
i had multiple X’s usb-c to lightning/micro failed on me after around 6mths…
I had multiple 6’s usb-a to usb-c adapter breaking apart after sometime (weak glue)…
Not all devices will charge through the usb-c to usb-c (usb-c ipad mini & my wife’s portable breastmilk pump & portable milk warmer for example), i reckon due to the inability to complete the power delivery negotiation requirement…
I find that for charging iOS devices with a usb-c powerbank, the incharge 6 works better with the additional adapters removed (the whole cable became even shorter to carry)
They are great backup cable (i have a total of 8 incharges cable so far), but I would not just bring it as your primary cable…

To be honest, it looks to me as an overhyped expensive gadget. But also, frustratingly, i just want some simple converter plugs to attach to a usb3 cable, which seem hard to find, or ridiculously expensive.
To be frank, a little converter plug costs less than 1 euro to make, probably a LOT less. The incharge i would be amazed if production is over 2 euros. Probably close to 1 euro, it at all. So as always you pay too much for these things. If only companies finally drop all connectors but usb c.......

Just bought this and I’ve got to say I’m really disappointed.
Charging over the lightning adapter is SUPER SLOW. USB C to lightning on a 20% full phone I was getting around 5V / 4W max (not even an amp, and certainly no higher voltages). Using USB A to lightning, getting a meagre 2.5W. This was across a range of different quality chargers and power banks.
So it’s good for USB C to C - but for any Apple users I’d recommend to look elsewhere - it’s too slow for anything but emergency use.
