I highly appreciate the lady for the demo she did on water, and her explanation.
Nevertheless that flow of water is called vortical flow and its caused by relative motion of a falling body with respect to earth's rotation. I. e if a body falls in a rotating field it must experience a continuous drift( which cuses rotation of the water.) At exact equator line vortices in both orientations cancel out causing stillness when pouring along the equator line.
The same effect is the one that causes formation of hurricanes and tornadoes at higher latitudes and prevents formation of those things arround the equator, thats why you will never hear of hurricanes arround equatorial countries.

Mau Escarpment, steep natural rampart along the western rim of the Great Rift Valley in western Kenya, west and south of the town of Nakuru; it rises to more than 10,000 feet (3,000 m) on the Equator. Its crest is covered with a vast forest.
