Kang the conqueror is the big bad of the MCU’s multiverse saga. The one who will battle the Avengers for the fate of the multiverse in The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.
Luckily we won’t have to wait that long for Kang to arrive.
Jonathan Majors is returning as Kang the conqueror in Quantumania, and according to the comic-con trailer, he’s the main villain of the third Ant-Man movie.
That’s not all, Kang is in the quantum realm. What’s he doing there, and how’s that connected to the multiverse saga.
Well, obviously it has something to do with time travel.
The quantum realm is how you travel through time, and Kang is all about that sweet-sweet time.
But we think there is something far bigger at play, and Kang’s master plan is going to be far more ambitious than just time travel. The quantum realm is the key for everything.
Ant-Man 3 might have just become one of the most important movies in the multiverse saga, because Quantumania is going to change everything we thought we knew about the quantum realm.
Alright, so in the trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania we see that the Ant-Squad are sucked into the quantum realm.
It’s a little hard to see what is actually going on. From what I was able to make out, it looks like some kind of blue beacon or vortex is going to pull the team inside the realm.
I guess that after Endgame, Hank and Janet are investigating the realm, something goes wrong with their experiment and now they’re all stuck in the quantum realm. Again.
Up until now the quantum realm seemed to be mostly empty. The only life in it were the tardigrades, those strange micro-bugs creators.
But the trailer shows that there are people inside the realm now, both of the human and alien variety.
This is something that was hinted at in Ant-Man and the Wasp. When Hank and Janet were leaving the realm, they passed this tiny bubble city.
Janet must have spent some time in that city, which explains how she survived those 30 years in the quantum realm.
The MCU’s quantum realm is an amalgamation of two separate dimensions from the comics. The Quantum Zone and the Microverse. The latter is the home for the Micronauts, a superhero team that lives in the micro realm.
The Microverse was created and inhabited by a time traveling group that went back in time from the very far future.
Marvel will most likely go in a similar direction for the residents of this buble city. With Kang being their ruler.
In case you didn’t know, Kang comes from the future. Kang is Nathaniel Richards, a scientist from the 30th century, who discovered the multiverse and time travel.
Oh and this city is probably Chronopolis. In the comics it’s Kang’s city, it’s his base of operations from where he rules all of his other realms.
So yeah, as per usual, Marvel is combining tons of different things for the comics.
Anyway, what all of this means is that Kang is actively conquering the entire quantum realm.
As to what Kang is planning, we’re getting to that in a moment.
First let’s take a look at Kang’s menacing speech to Scott, since his words give us some hints for his plan. Also what kind of Kang we’ll meet in Quantomania.
That’s important, because we have no idea which Kang variant it will be.
That’s the thing with Kang, there are countless versions of him.
Every variant is different.
We already met He Who Remains in Loki, that’s the variant who created the sacred timeline.
The gist of Kang’s speech is how time isn’t a straight line.
The timeline isn’t leaner, it’s a loop.
That’s how the sacred timeline appeared in Loki.
Kang then tells Scott that he has seen everything that will happen, he knows how it all ends.
That’s exactly how He Who Remains saw time.
He literally had a script for everything that ever happened and will happen.
He doesn’t perceive time linearly like most beings in the multiverse. He experiences every moment all at once.
Basically like Doctor Manhattan.

For Dr. Doom initially it’s easier to cast… All you need is a stuntman like Darth Vader and a great voice actor. Initially.

Maybe it is just this easy. Nathaniel Richards of the 31st-century discovered the greatest invention of Doctor Doom, the Space-Time Platform. A variant of Loki, partly responsible for triggering events leading to a Multiversal War of Kang variants and eventual total collapse of all that is in a chain reaction of Incursions, seeks to thwart Kang by any means necessary. Seeking the Conqueror's Achilles' heel, he finds Doom, who, in turn finds the Scarlet Witch. While the Kangs wage war against themselves and a hopelessly outmatched team of New Avengers, a strange Trinity of Doom, the Scarlet Witch, and Doctor Doom find a way to destroy all the Kangs, and attempt to save what they can from all that is... this results in Battleworld and God-Emperor Doom and the next saga.

Nah, it’s all nonsense. Time travel makes the entire Marvel franchise nonsense. Don’t like what happened? Go back in time. Someone sided? Get them from another reality. It’s endlessly meaningless.
I always interpreted the threshold as the moment He Who Remains actually gives free will to Loki and Sylvie for them to decide if they are gonna take his place or not, but the timeline begins to split then because Sylvie has already made the decision to kill him.
Yeah, I think people were reading way too much into that one word. It seemed like it was just the point where he was no longer in control and couldn’t put things back in order. So the sacred timeline began to reconnect to the greater multiverse.
Well if the timeline began to split before she kills him, doesn’t that mean that she doesn’t have freewill ?

@@pilotmoudi I think it means the opposite. She has free will and because she does, she can choose whatever option is available and the effect is not predetermined. That's why time starts to branch off before she makes a move. It's showing different possibilities are now possible and not even Kang knows we're it will lead. That's why his excited. He's not seen that in a while.
And lastly, the times can be reversed, there was still time cause no action had been taken, that's why Kang was telling them to make up there minds quickly before the branches grew so deep they could not be pruned anymore
It seems that Kang intentionally got rid of things that could stop him, having Thanos atomize the infinity stones, particularly the time stone which could challenge his rule over time, having the Scarlet witch destroy the book of the vishanti, a relic that could defeat him...
Yeah but all Disney has to do is make up another more powerful book. Problem solved. Eternity grants wishes for some reason. And it can be accessed anytime by Thor now seems like. Or they can just add one line and erase eternity from ever intervening again. That’s the frustrating part in everything. They don’t really care about cannon or anything actually working out logically. It’s just a movie. Which they’re right. But also so wrong.
@@markislivingdeliberately you just have to be patient. Everything worked out and connected in the first saga of movies (Thanos) it just took years and years for it come together. Just give it time, be patient. A story will be told and it will make sense (for the most part ;))
@@markislivingdeliberately Eternity granted ONE wish to ONE person. It's been completed, and thus will never happen again in the same timeline. Assumedly, Eternity's realm will either cease to exist now that's happened and they'll waft into the ether... not the Reality Stone btw... and is never seen in the MCU again, OR now that the doorway to the realm has been unlocked, others might visit to seek guidance from Eternity (they just won't get any wishes granted).
Also, the Book of Vishanti has been in the comics since 1963. Disney didn't just "make it up", and they're unlikely to "make up" anything like that to fit a narrative. So far, pretty much any relics or the like they've used have come directly from the comics, even if the origin of said relic has been tweaked.

Kang looks so much interesting and there’s so much they can do with him it’s crazy
Dude, ever since Avengers 5 and 6 were revealed, I've had this theory that we're going to build up to Kang in the way that everyone suspects, of course, up to the 5th movie---and additional to this, we're also going to meet Dr Doom along the way throughout Phase 5 & 6 possibly starting with Wakanda Forever.
But, here's my real point w/ this:
By the time we hit Avengers 5, we'll have Kang as the bad guy, and it'll basically be secret Wars part 1. In the background, we will have Dr Doom up to something, it will be very obvious.
By the end of this movie, after everyone's tried everything and no one's been able to successfully stop Kang, Dr Doom is going to walk up to him and it's going be that iconic shot from the comics where he punches through Thanos and pulls his spine out except it's going to happen to Kang and be the turning point at the end. This will lead us into Avengers 6 with God King Doom as the main antagonist.

This sounds incredible if that’s the direction they’re going. I also wonder if the afterlife realms we’ve been introduced to in this phase, like Valhalla and the Duat, will come in to play? We learned that Sylvie could hide from the TVA by going to apocalypses where nothing survives. Well, what if you go somewhere where everything is already dead? If they hide out in these after-life’s, maybe Kang can’t get to them and that’s how a group of Avengers will survive to fight him?
So we might see Black widow again. Maybe. A Cameo?! All in all, she is definitely not in Valhalla. And from what I know she didn't believe in any supreme being or an afterlife. So yeah.

That's how tony stark returns and defeats Kang. It's confirmed he's back in secret wars.
Kang is the one thing I’m excited about in the MCU. I actually would be perfectly fine with him winning in the end or at least still being in control of at least parts of the multiverse.
I just want everything to still be about Wanda and I’ll gladly watch her destroy everyone and everything

You missed one reference - going back in time without changing the timeline just happened: in Ms. Marvel. If your theory here is right, then she will become Kang's biggest target at some point to get those powers because he can't do it himself, and that may become the catalyst for uniting the Young Avengers.
That might be because time travel using magic (like her bracelet or the Time Stone) might not be subjected to the same principles as quantum time travel, which is made using science.
Is that even completely confirmed though? It could be that she went to a parallel timeline that's only slightly different, and a version of herself from another timeline did the same in the main MCU timeline, essentially creating the story from the grandma.

@@isaboll1 the coincidences involved are two intertwined for such a parallel version to happen. She went there. She came back. She was remembered.
Occam's razor kicks in here here - breaking the branched timeline serves a potential later story purpose, where-as the coincidence idea of parallel intertwined timelines 1) just writes it off, or 2) just leads to an unnecessary incursion situation when the rest of the MCU gets incorporated.

@@uvindukulathunga3860 story-wise, I don't think it was much at plot or risk, just character development - learning who she is and what her family went through for her to even exist. Like the Japanese internment camps here in the States, it is almost so many generations ago that many (too many) don't know about it anymore.
It showed what happens when a government is empowered to forcefully divide people, and as such, it informed her decision to resist Damage Control and protect her friends. It may become a factor later when dealing with real aliens in Marvels, or if she's at any point involved in Secret Invasion.
so basically kang pulled a rick sanchez and created a central finite curve. That would be a great way to end the MCU, to have Kang win and everything just plays on repeat with kang always winning the final battle which restarts the timeline
Well I mean it's fair play. Rick pulled a Kang with the "Citadel of Rick's" and now Kang Is pulling a Rick with the "finite curve" lol. Both really interesting characters who use their brains to merk characters way stronger than them.
Some of the Rick and Morty writers have actually gone on to the MCU
i love all this and i think ultimately, we either get the avengers agreeing leaving a "he who remains" in charge to make sure it doesn't happen again or we get our version of "Warlock replacing the tribunal" by having him replace Kang

I think it’s important to note that Majors delivers all that lore extremely well. Sometimes actors are reading off lines like they don’t really know the gravity of what they’re talking about- but Majors delivery was A grade. I really think we are gonna be in a for a treat with the 2 avengers movies coming up.
He is a great actor.
The thing with these theories is that they are sometimes so good that i believe the movie makers might go a different direction just to avoid these and end up making worse ones..great theory as usual this.
Soooo what I'm hearing is that Kang's plan is for Palpatine to somehow return 🤔🤔
His motive will have something to do with Revona Renslayer (spell?) and finding a universe where she loves him or something. The last battle will be the realities breaking and all our favorite heros and all Kangs (or previously seen villains controlled by Kang) will fight

That's funny. They're going to rush it for sure. Just look at the effects for examples. They're only in it for the money, not the story. They have so many characters to introduce and are pushing out uneseccary content. Hopefully, they have a change of heart, rethink their creativity, and extend the saga to a longer wait period.
Kang already had supremacy over a sacred timeline to do as he pleased. I believe he is trying to go beyond that before Creation (mentioned by Collector) to that which was before the known Multiverse, where the Necrosword originated, the Simbiotes & Dark Elves come from, the plane where the Living Tribunal exists and sits on the throne of the Multiverse. He is a Conquerer, so he is trying to take it all, and was stopped before. So going beyond the threshold, is his new try to best the Living Tribunal via the Beyonders that will be triggered to attack and kill the Living Tribunal through his master plan. He has lived a Million Lifetimes, so he has put all the pieces into place, and is now trying it all out. His Band that he took off in Loki also passes his knowledge and memories to the new version of him to guide it all into fruition. The key will be brilliant minds figuring out his plan and foiling it in this attempt which I think will be in the reprisal of Ironman working with Reed Richards on Battleworld, and they make their own complex plan with heroes & villains to prevent the Beyonders from destroying the Living Tribunal and take out Kang but leave Dr. Doom aware of the Power of the Beyonders and move the story forward from there.
I love this, however iron man is not returning, they’re not gonna pay Robert Downey jr. another fortune to be in another movie. He’s already done enough and his character arc is complete he’s dead, and personally I don’t think we’ll see another iron man played by someone else for a very long time given we just had an entire decade of nonstop iron man, I have iron man fatigue 😂
@@lordmasonchase7696 We'll definitely have *an* Iron Man in Secret Wars. It's a few years off, but to not include even a variant of the foundational hero in the MCU in it's biggest crossover (with built-in logic for his return, even if only briefly) would be a huge misstep. Whether he's integral to the plot or not, I'm sure Stark will be back in some form
I love how Namor and T’Challa are forced to develop a slight friendship in secret wars right after they destroying each other’s nations.
Something I just noticed about He Who Remains, when he talks about Oliath, he mentions that he Ended! the war, and even repeats the point he Ended it, I dont think he's proud of what he did because he's not referring to it as a victory; that says t me that maybe He Who Remains isnt proud of what he had to do
What if....
At the end of all this, the heros and everyone involved realizes that he who remains is needed and the multiversal war that happened in passed is actually the war yet to come and once the war is done they secure the sacred time line by placing he who rains back in the citadel.
Making the loop of time fulfilled.... he who remains help end the war by staying back and being the guard dog to keep the demons of himself in the bottle...
So loki and female loki relize they are the beginning and the end of the war...
I have this sneaking suspicion that Scott will either be captured and imprisoned in the quantum realm and while in lockdown he will use the quantum realm to travel the multiverse or use it to escape his imprisonment. I really hope there’s a moment where Scott makes a comeback and warns the heroes of the impending war, kinda like hank pym did in “Times runs out” where he warned them about the beyonders.
The year was 2019. I was watching one of these kinds of videos pre-Endgame and it became the plot twist of the movie: Iron Man used his armor so he can wield the stones. Manifesting that kind of energy for this video, Ryan.

He has everything in him to be the greatest MCU villain of all time; intelligent, resourceful, manipulative, intimidating, etc.
The problem with that is it'd be blowing the load too damn quickly. It's like I'd they put Thanos as the Villian for avengers 2. It's stupid and a waste of the character. Let Kang breathe from a storytelling perspective and have him have the Kang dynasty, Secret Wars arc only for Doom to merk him at the end of it. Leading into the "Eternity Saga"
A question I had is, why are the timelines called "Earth" 616 or "Earth" 838. Do these earths also include the other planets in the nine realms?

We know for a fact that Kang time travels. He who remains even said he had to hide at the end of time from the other Kangs he didn't kill.
I think the heroes will eventually discover The Heart of The Universe and Ultimate Nullifier which can help defeat Kang in a huge battle to protect the multiverse. I suspect Doctor Strange and Thor will team up to find these cosmic saving graces for the multiverse. The heroes must stay several steps ahead of Kang and communicate vital information on potential cosmic items and plans that can defeat him.
Perhaps you are precise correct about a version of heart of universe(which was really a trick by ultimate one above all in another version),with ultimate nilifier,(from standard version of galactus).but,those heroes will still require help from Hispanic female one variant -star America,providing positive multiuniverse illuminati,and/or possibly living tribunal-with another OMINPRESENT in positive universe being-against one or both- ultimate variants of kangs' plans.

He who remains seemed to need the avengers to time travel and Tony to die. I think Kang will undo this and the avengers will beat him by ensuring the timeline who creates he who remains is protected long enough for him to dominate Alioth and take his place so he who remains ends the multiversal war. From this Kangs perspective Loki and Sylvie would walk into his citadel not too long later and restart this loop once they kill him.

Because this is true. The point of sacred timeline is to not let kangs to be born while he who remains rules. He who remains is the saviour so we will see him again to end the war. He knows the loop, there is no other way. If Loki was the boss he would meet a person trying to reach him out as same happened with He Who Remains.

Kang just wants to win the Avengers' trust by helping them defeat the council, but actually doing it for his revenge. After killing his variants he becomes he who remains and rewrites the 616 timeline as the Battleworld, where just like how in the comics, Sue storm became Doom's wife, here, Ravona is Kang's wife. The rest of Battleworld remains the same since the story is just so cool. But a Loki variant is destined to kill him and he knows that. But he also knows that when the Loki variant stabs him, he falls in time, meets his younger self, trains him. His younger self meets Ravona, the two fall in love. Ravona dies. Kang conquerors other timelines, proposes Ravonas, gets rejected, the council is formed. They exile Kang and the cycle continues. In order to stop this endless loop, Loki makes the ultimate sacrifice by rebooting the entire MCU where free will prevails. Loki's arc from the first Avengers comes full circle as everyone finally kneels before him!

He who remains was a hero. A draconian hero but a hero nonetheless as he stoped all incursions. In a sense he did the ww2 atomic bomb play. Life’s were lost but more would have been lost if it was done any other way

@@cedriceric9730 na it was a nuke or an invasion. the emperor was never going to give up and the bushido code prevented the generals from rebelling. by the time the nukes were dropped pamphlets of what would happen if they didn't surrender already lined the streets, Tokyo and surrounding areas was already fire boomed to the ground and everyone knew they were going to loose but refused to surrender do to indoctranation.

So, if what you say comes to pass, it's VERY likely that the final battle against Kang will be fought in the castle at the End of Time that we visited in Loki. If He Who Remains couldn't see past that point, and that the multiversal war (that rages across all of time) is starting again, it'll come to that exact same point in time, and it's likely that whatever variant of Kang becomes the BBEG won't be able to see past that point either.
5:21 A notable exception would be Ms. Marvel traveling back in time to 1947.

Just love how many theories we can come up within the MCU at this point. Reality though has its own sacred timeline when it actually releases.
Man, I grew up with Micronaut toys and reading the Marvel comics. I wish Marvel had obtained the rights to include them in the MCU.
I'm missing something here, after all time in the quantum dimension works differently, Antman was stuck there for five years and for him it was like five hours so for Janet 30 years should have felt like 30 hours so how did she get so old?

Janet Van Dyne's quantum realm time makes no sense now, so she was in there for 30 years away from Hank and Hope, But when Scot gets stuck there for 5 years it's only been 5 hours for him, so why has Janet aged so much? Is anyone able to make this make sense for me
Scott got stuck in a time vortex. She mentioned for him to be cautious of them.
Either that or time moves differently there. Not necessarily at that rate Scott experienced. Perhaps different pockets accelerate or decelerate felt time. Maybe what Scott and Janet experienced were both outliers in different directions. I don't think we have any idea what is normal for that place yet

Lady spends lots of time in quantum zone and ages like normal, time moves like normal. She warns guy of time vortex in quantum zone. Guy goes into quantum zone, time moves weird and he doesn't age normally.
The movie tries to tell you what's going on without treating you like an idiot or a child. Clearly they were giving you a bit too much credit.

Everything you said was on point accept the last sentence. I believe to defeat kang the only way is to use the quantum realms energy to destroy itself and turn the multiverse into a single universe where alternative realities and time travel no longer exist. Hence the end of the multiverse the end of nexus events and the end of alternative realities. They could still have other dimensions but only one universe.
Incursions did not happen when the Kangs first ventured into the multiverse. The incursions are the weapon Kang uses/uses to destroy what he considers the most dangerous universes.

Good points on the nature of quantum. I think the threshold Kang spoke of was where he put the decision out of his hands and let Loki pursue free will, as that was the point of their meeting he’d been working up to.
After hearing Panther2 leaks I have some thoughts. Doom pits Namor against Panther and will probably be in FF, so he’s a powerful threat if not outright villain, but the heroes need him in the fight against Kang. This puts him in position to form Battleworld much like in the comics.
But… do I want MCU Battleworld? Comic books and movies are very different forms of entertainment. The comic relied heavily on readers previous knowledge and attachment to characters and I’m not certain it will translate well to a two hour movie. I guess a lot depends on if the next MCU phase is full of agenda trash like the last phase. They need viewers caring about characters, something their agenda lost sight of.

Something I thought of while watching the video. Has nothing to do with storylines, or what is going to happen. But imagine if it was never announced that Jonathan Majors was going to play Kang. We watch Loki, we see Jonathan as He Who Remains, we think "Oh, cool", he talks about his variants, he gets killed, we then see that one of his variants is again in charge of the TVA but instead of being the man behind the curtain, he's right there in the middle of and we think "Oh, cool". Then, we hear that Kang is coming into the MCU and we think "Oh, cool" but we don't know who's playing him. Sure we can speculate that He Who Remains was a Kang variant because of the things he said, but we don't know for sure. Then Quantumania comes out, we know Kang will be in it, but we never see him or hear him in the promotion material (or at least, we never see his face), and then we see him for the first time and it's Jonathan Frakken Majors and we're all "NO WAY!".
"The Threshold" was never a mystery lol. It was literally laid out for the viewer that the threshold we were crossing was the part of the timeline that He Who Remains had already witnessed. It was very clearly described...
The TVA had statues of Kang in the end of Loki so I’ve always been behind the theory that the TVA is the city we saw in the quantum realm.
I'm afraid this is going to get so complicated that people will start losing interest because they can't follow the dozens of threads. Thanos was one straight story-- recover the stones and use them. This is far more complicated.

I think people are making it more complicated than it will be. I don't see casual fans having an issue. Marvel knows that the general audience that sees these films aren't die hard fans. So, they will keep it relatively simple with some twist in a way.

Timeline branched off when they crossed the threshold because the TVA were no longer policing it after they found out renslayers secret. Pruning timelines was how the sacred timeline was kept in check.

My interpretation of the threshold is that there are timelines being created in that moment that he has not explored and that every time the multiverse is destroyed and a new one created he eventually ends up here with Sylvi and Loki and the threshold is has far as he has gotten each time before they or someone else kills him starting another multiversal war and starting the cycle over
