So in the arbor industry we use several knots as well. And the phrase seared into every arborist's mind is TIE, DRESS, AND SET. That's the process of tying your knot. Dressing is making sure all parts are aligned and arranged properly. And setting is tightening all of it so every part touches, presses, and grabs against the other parts. This prevents a loose knot which increases chances of capsizing.
Starting to get back into fishing after a while. I like your videos because you actually use line that is easy to see instead of other channels which use 12lb mono.
Hey Skipper, I found you about a week ago. Love the info, attention to details, the passion you have for the sport, and that you share the knowledge with us watching from this end of the camera. I just purchased a rod and real. Made a couple leaders using knots from this video. I’m going out for the first time tomorrow morning. I am prepared and feel confident thanks to you Skipper.
i dont use these bait boxes but i do use something pretty much the same. i get them from the camping section at walmart and they come in a few different sizes and colors. fricken sweet seeing other peple using them .

Hello Team Hey Skipper, When to use Dropper rig and runner rig in deep or shallow and high to low or low to high , to get maximum catch and less snag. Pl guide, Thank you
Are you fresh water or Salt water and is this good for fishing runners? Can you also go over line ,leader line pounds for fishing type? O and hooks. What pole and reel do you use?
What about the Yucatan knot for mono to braid (I usualy add a half hich at both ends of the knot) and Palomar knot for eyed hooks ( or eaven swivels). Whats your opinion on those ?
Yucatan? Been fishing for 4 years and have watched tons of YT knot videos and have never heard of that knot. Easiest mono / flouro to braid - uni 2 uni. Hardest but strongest mono / flouro - FG knot. Swivels - clinch or uni. Straight eyed hooks - clinch or palomar. Off set eyed hooks - learn how to snell a hook.
@@ubreakitirepairit3569 There are plenty of videos of yucatan knot - pretty easy to tie in the field. I agree that FG is the strongest but its hard and tying it quickly on a windy day is just not worth it.
@@backin80s I’m pretty sure I’d find tons of videos on that knot if I were actively searching for it. Just saying, out of all the videos I’ve come across (most of them being the best knots, the strongest knots, etc…), none have ever mentioned that knot. I’ll check it out though.
@@backin80s Just check out that knot. Much more bulkier than FG. Highly doubt most would choose that over the slimmer FG, which poses less of a chance getting caught up on your rods eyes.
I typically use uni to uni knot for braid to braid, if i use braid to fluorocarbon or mono i prefer to use fg knot because i feel the knot is slimmer and stronger.
@@HeySkipper fg knot is not much slower to tie. Can be done in under a minute and is stronger than uni. Also good luck with your micro eyes using uni to uni.
With the fg knot you need strength to pull it tight enough for the braid to bite down into the mono and also to maintain tension on it while tying it so it's not a good knot for someone who lacks finger dexterity or muscle strength
Don't know if anyone already said this in the comments but you're sinker knot of 2 overhand knots that bind on each other is called the Canadian Jam Knot
Better to use a surgeons knot for your sinker, so you can quickly swap it out if needed. It’s simply folding over the line on itself and doing a regular knot but looping through the hole twice instead of once, while keeping a loop big enough for a sinker to go through it. Afterwards slide the line through the sinker and pull the sinker through the loop you created.
The improved albright knot is pretty good for braid to mono and can be used for ropes/lines of different thicknesses there are so many knots out there it all comes down to what feels easiest for the person tying it as to which knots they end up using but its great to learn all different kinds because sometimes you discover a new one that changes how you do things like when I learned the palomar knot and the T knot (Thank You Hey Skipper for teaching me this one)
Will tying your rig with all braid line stop the fish from biting?? So what’s the reason?? If it doesn’t matter to the fish why should it matter to the fisherman??
the line will tangle easily and not hold true to form! its also usually clear and more difficult for fish to see. thanks for watching and have a happy new year!
You say over and over not to tie your hook to braid, but you don't tell us why. Why? I always tie my hooks to braid and I catch fish with no issues. Never breaks
I’m sorry bro. I see fly fishing post they use yellow. Me. I’m new and you just thought a 65 years old his first fishing nut on my first try to fish. So wish me luck.
Improved clinch knot is terrible, braided line will pull right through.. The double uni knot for tying to any kind of lure is the only true 100% knot.. There are many tests out there proving just that with data..

Hey thanks for coming to our show!
Have you done any fishing in Illinois
Fox river, lake Michigan, Kankakee river
No have not, what would I catch in those areas?
@@HeySkipper large and small mouthed bass rockbass walleye, northern pike. Channel catfish.
I’ll bring a full set of your rigs back home to the Philippines for vacation soon. What size reel do you recommend for jigging and rod action?
Great vid. Do ppl actually use braid for their rigs?
Yes I’ve seen it. Sometimes when the water isn’t very clear the braid is okay I guess🤷♂️
What’s the mono braking strain on uni knot for surf/ shore fishing Pacific Ocean Central America. All sorts of sizes in there

Is the uni to uni knot strong for ligh or heavy line? I am using 50-80lbs leader
Fg is better

A dropper loop knot works well there too, many options!

Unless your fishing is very deep water i never use braid for this reason. You need a bit of stretch when you hook up.
Arbor Knot…on your sinkers. 😊
Instead of a swivel can use the uni to uni knot attach my own fishing rig
Who is the manufacturer of your braids and lines?
Texas is 1000% mud hahaha moved here last year and I miss the clear lakes I had in Utah 😂😂
OK somewhat confused of your term "main leader" and "new leader". I always thought there is a main line and leader line. Please explain.
Will tying your rig with all braid line stop the fish from biting?? So what’s the reason?? If it doesn’t matter to the fish why should it matter to the fisherman??
thats not why you wet it. you wet it so it dose not get hot and burn a bit of your line
friction
👍
If you have micro guides the uni knot it's to big to get through the guides. I see that you don't use ultra light tackle or light tackle
