Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball, or Sonic Spinball, is a pinball video game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It was originally released for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis in 1993 and later ported to the Sega Game Gear and Sega Master System in 1995.

this is basically an anxiety attack in game form.
Never got past the first level. Didn't even know there were other levels lmao
Yea I was a little kid when I played and was stuck on first level and thought that was the only level bit had no problem with it cause I loved the music

GayTree yep I remember playing this on the mega collection for the GameCube. I tried so hard to pass this level but I could just never do it.

That intro with the vast ocean and Robotnik's tower..just gets me. That's the thing I remember the most.

what I remember the most is the Toxic Caves and its music, I just love it.
It use to freak me out as a kid so I would only get up to the first boss before giving up since it scared me too much

The scariest part is dropping into the bottom of level 2, it's like you're falling into HELL

I thought you get GRINDED to death on Level 3, I thought it would show you Sonic getting grinded to chunks, then Level 2, I thought Sonic would get burned to death you could see his skeleton, and Level 1, I thought when you get eaten, there would be body parts in the water. (blood included)
this game was so hard that just playing the first stage for 2-3 hours a day was enough for me...
This is the best pinball game ever made, and also the scariest Sonic game. Like other commenters here, the monsters and level design gave me nightmares as a kid...

Can we talk about how Eggman just freaking DIED at the end? He fell from space into his volcano fortress, which sunk beneath the sea and went up in a nuclear explosion. That's downright Rasputinian.
But no matter what happens, he always returns...
It’s like if SEGA has some kind of villain recovery center.
That, and the sound he made was the closest thing possible on a 16-bit console to the scream of a pig being slaughtered.

James C I got past level three only a few times but I'd only have one life left each time. Hence, I didn't last long in level four lol.
This game is/was so frustrating. One half of a level could take you five minutes and the other half will take you fifteen to twenty lol.

I was, and am, much more of a gamer than my brother, but there were three games that he was way better than me at; Shining Force, Metal Gear Solid, and Sonic Spinball.
I remember this game when I was a kid. It was my least favourite out of Sonic games. I agree with most of the comments, it was frustrating and confusing. I never made it past the 2nd level.
I rented this multiple times from Blockbuster. Never beat the second stage.
I understand how the 1st boss can be scary.

I use to play this tons as a kid...I always used to steamroll the first 3 levels but lose all my lives on the last level.

One of the most underrated video games of all time. Definitely my favourite sonic video game and favorite Genesis game. It's too bad they didn't make more levels
I ruled at this game, but I could never get the last emerald on the last level. This was 23 years ago when I was 12. Good times!
which one? The last level has some quite creative emerald placements. I like the ones off to the side that you essentially need to explore to find.
TIL all those times I thought I almost beat this game were a fucking tease, and I NEVER even came close. Fuck.

To be honest the options music is quite catchy... if you lower your volume first.

im 18 and when i was a kid (like 6 or 7) my mom gave me her old genesis and atari they were my first vidoe games,this and lethal enforcer were my childhood. randomly thought about this game and had to see it again,this video actually made me cry a little bit just off of pure nostalgia

For a Sonic the Hedgehog game made by mostly non-Japanese staff members, I thought Sonic Spinball was good, albeit hard as fuck. However, I want to choke the level designer(s) of the last level and the genius that decided not give you continues in this game.

This game was so grungy. Lol definitely fit the 90s era. By the way I was one of the few that almost beat this damn game when I was a kid.
Is there even a button for jumping with the default controls? I remember playing this in a store way back, and all three buttons on the controller triggered the flippers. When Sonic falls into the platform in the middle, the robot dragon starts eating him, and the text yells "THE BUTTONS", I'd spam the hell out of everything...which of course did nothing.

Someone REALLY needs to do a video on this game's secrets. For example, you get extra points for switching paths on the cart in Toxic Caves. You can repeat this action, but eventually the game stops you from switching any more, and the text at the top says "HEY, CUT IT OUT!" I want to see all of the things like this...

When I was younger, I found an instruction manual of this game at my grandmother's house after we moved in with her. I kept it because SONIC, and I still have it to this day. (because Sonic)
Strangely enough though, I don't ever recall ever SEEING a Genisis around her house, much less a Sonic game, even with other family members living with her before us. I remember seeing a PlayStation, but never a Genisis!
Did you know theres a game called sonic chaos and spinball it was a controller you could just plug into your tv with no system, i still have it and play it, nostalgia its awesome, am i right?

I had this game as a kid (I basically had every Sonic game on my Genesis/Mega Drive-it was my first youth craze before Pokemon came out in my early teens)...
I remember finishing it, but yeah it was MUCH harder than Sonic's standard platform games...nothing more infuriating than to reach the last boss room on that rocket, then having a gutter ball and falling back to the bottom of the level...smfh xD
Wish I could replay it once in a while for fun, unfortunately my Genesis and all its games perished in a fire long ago :(

This game made me rage so much back in the day. The final level constantly tossed Sonic straight down the middle between flippers or some shit. Could get a perfect game all up until then, and lose game over the end.
I remember getting to the second last level when I was 6 years old. Then my Grandfather took my Brother and I to Dairy queen, so I paused it and left my game on pause so I could resume it later. When I came back my sega genesis broke and took my progress with it. Needless to say I was slightly annoyed because this game was quite hard.

Loved this game when I was young. Super effin hard though. I think I made it to the third level but that's as far as I ever got. For the longest time I didn't even know what to do to progress through the damn game! Still loved it though. Nostalgia hittin hard watching this playthrough.

I could never get passed the 2nd boss. I also thought that there were only 7 emeralds, because of obvious reasons. I thought once I got passed the 2nd stage, I'd just have to collect one more emerald on the 3rd level and I'd fight Robotnik one last time lol
