I came for the woodworking, but stayed for the hand gestures. Well done.
So good 😂😂😂
I own dozens of blades, some Avanti, Freud, dewalt, milwaukee, forrest, and CMT. Unless your running a cabinet shop Freud Diablo blades are by far the best bang for the buck, everything else is junk or too high performance (expensive) to notice any difference on a portable saw.
Yup, Diablo all the way,. Makita blades are also pretty nice, I've discovered. Did very well in Project Farm's tests, too.
@6:10 "Like magic...or physics" LOLOLOL. And the "Pandemic Pine" had me cracking up!
🤓
The most expensive of all Pandemic Pine…🤣 Good one.
🤪
That new push stick is bad because it flexes. You can see at 6:22 when you put downwards pressure, the small piece of wood moves forward slightly before the cut. Then after the cut when you release, it moves backward and leaves a visible gap from where the blade originally was 6:29
Great catch!!!
I live in Sri Lanka and I got a $100 miter saw (DongCheng) pretty certain that the company was cost cutting so they just gave a solid piece of plastic with no count outs. It basically was a factory zero clearance insert. And for that price the miter feature is accurate but the bevel feature is meh. I never use it cause I don’t trust the poorly pasted sticker. Also came dead square out of the box
Pandemic pine had me rolling! Hahahaha
You just re triggered me
Awesome, thanks for sharing
Love your videos!! That Fastcap stick looks like a great addition for the miter saw. Thanks for the info!
Thank you Sandy! It indeed is pretty cool! Surprised by how well it works
"pandemic pine"...that's hilarious.

Me too.
Great stuff. Subscribed before I finished the video. Thanks!
Thank you Luke! Appreciate that.
Thanks for the tips.
The only one I really can't use and have tried is the zero clearance fence. It really interferes with the dust collection on my Kapex. Especially when cutting wide boards.
Thanks. JimE
Thanks. Very helpful.

IPG all the way! Best tape out there. Matco makes a pretty good comparible tape now too.

Great honest video with practical application of things that most will actually use. Sometimes I think some of these channels just teaches you to make jigs just to make the jigs with all the tools and get no real work done. Simple is better. Will give the CMT a go. Diablo's are cheap but their teeth are very fragile. I do want to add that a quality mitre saw does help, but avoid the sliders unless you actually need a slider. A simple 150 USD makita 10" single bevel will do vast majority of the work you would ever need. Less things to wobble, less things to adjust. 27 lbs of workhorse that you can take anywhere.
For sure. This summer I helped a friend in Montana and they had a very old 10” makita. It was dead on.
@@wittworks I love these things. You can often pick these up for 50 bucks. I just put different blades in different saws because of how cheap they are. Goes up to a 5 1/4 at the base (with a shim on bottom will do 2x6) for most daily work construction to fine furniture.
Thanks for this video! Loved these tips for the miter saw.
Tried out some XFasten woodworking tape last weekend, and whoa what a game changer. Used it on my planer sled, to hold pieces I'm attaching where a clamp won't fit. Works amazing, strong, no residue left behind
That’s great!
I have had mixed results with the xfasten. I will try this brand next
Excellent video, man.
Thank you
I rather liked the tip on zero clearance tape. Quite an informative chap I thought and without all the drama. Particularly keen on sarcasm too so that's me subscribed. 🙂
That small piece holder is pretty cool!
I know! It works so well!
solid tips. CMT blades is what I use professionally, and pay the extra for the industrial quality. Stays sharper much longer.
great tips!
Glad you like them!
I was hoping this would tell me how to make my ryobi compound cut straight. I definitely need a new blade though because all my cuts look like the 'before' images. The 3 point stick looks awesome too because.. yeah.. I cut little pieces of plywood all the time and you know I'm not using that silly stick to hold them.
What don't you like about the Katz-Moses stop blocks? I have one on my cross-cut sled and love it, but am curious about your opinion.
Useful and hilarious video. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
thanks for sharing these amazing tips
I just couldn’t wait and watched. Your videos are GREAT! I laughed out loud…”pandemic pine” 😂😂😂
Haha! Thanks! I’m still bitter about those prices….
Yes, that was my favorite line also!
I’m still triggered from those $13 boards.
I used to throw away offcuts under 24 inches, now I save 12 inches and longer.
"Pandemic Pine" love it!
I'm using that from now on 😂

@@wittworks also, to even further try and boost your engagement for the algorithm; I very much enjoyed your guest appearance on the Off the Cut Podcast
I’m confused. Is this for a saw that is dedicated for 90 degree cuts? As soon as you need to cut any other angle you are cutting into the fence and bottom tape. I built a workshop with pandemic pine and pandemic OSB 😢
Yes.

thank you. I don't know about the university education part though!
Excellent video, very useful tips and refresher points, thx vm.
You’re welcome Tom
The most dangerous thing in the kitchen is a full blade. This is true for saw blades, duller blades are dangerous for a variety of reasons such as catching on a knot, pinching, pulling, pressing, etc. A sharp blade will cut through something, a dull blade might get caught on it and send it flying. It can happen in both situations, but a lot less with sharp blades.
Bro you triggered me with your trigger pine issue :-)
We need therapy.
@@wittworks If you only knew! Just kidding
Well here is the ol saying never too old to learn, been in construction for 40+ yrs and boy oh boy, just never thought of this. I have no laser on my chop saw, but this way is just so great. Thanks.
Thank you. I had a nice dewalt that had a shadow line. It was perfect. Used the blade to make the shadow and made every laser crawl in bed and cry. It got stolen. So now I’m using my beginner saw again.
The stick doesn’t seem to be available anymore. I’m in Canada. Where can I get one?
I’m not sure. Maybe Google “fast cap million dollar stick” - if seen them on Amazon too.
I use carpet tape for my sacrificial fences. It's super cheap and it comes off clean
Yep, can tell you have spent some in video production / cinematography / lighting / audio :)
Thank you for noticing.
Most excellent advice!
Thank you Drew!
I am still waiting on my delivery of artisan Pandemic Pine to come in. Hopefully it will be well worth it.
The problem with the 10 million dollar stick is it relies on surfaces past the deck of the miter saw which is no problem in a shop but anywhere else you are unlikely to have that support like if you are using vendors miter stands or using the saw with no stand
Drew, can I call you Drew. I am so happy that you are posting more content. It is good ideas/sugestions with the sense of humor I appreciate. When I see one of your videos pop up I smile, yes I know I have issues and need therapy. You and your family take care!

"Struggle bus" this man says.. with a shop like that and while reviewing festool products 😂
The struggle is real.
I've tryed to use plain masking tape for masking painting projects off and the adhesive is too strong without sealing off the tape from paint bleed and it leaves residue behind. It might work okay for using it on saws and stuff, but don't try using that for painting/DIY projects. That's when actual painters tape comes in handy.
Exactly
you assumed I ever fell OUT of love with my miter saw
🤣
Once you cut the tip of your finger off it will never get in the way of making the cut again. You should just go ahead, avoid the safety and get that finger cut back to a more manageable length.
All dedicated woodworkers do that early in their careers.
🤪

@@acarpentersson8271 They say it's best to do it young, it hurts a lot more when you get older.
I laughed pretty loudly at "pandemic pine circa 2020"
Thanks! That was unscripted
Love your stuff and I just subscribed. But, think about it. On a miter saw the blade, if used as directed, cuts up through the bottom of the wood. No fibers are pushed toward your zero-clearance magic yellow tape. So, no fibers are unsupported even without your tape, or walnut, or babinga.
Welcome aboard! Thank you
CMT makes quality woodworking products, usually for good price. That said, their blades are NOT just as good as Forest blades.
Ha ha, wait there more, that tool is perfect for close cuts.
By the way...I hate my Forest Woodworker's II blade. It burns on cherry and maple. A Freud or CMT blade doesn't. Good tip about the zero clearance tape. Couldn't I just use wide double sided tape or duct tape?
Good info.
I think you could use anything. This stuff is surprisingly hard and the adhesive is very strong.
The Forrest blades have zero side clearance. They scrape the surface of your work. If you don't have the fence setup correctly or use the blade on a table saw with too much runout you will get burning. The CMT/Freud blades are nothing special. They won't burn because they have side clearance. But they won't give you as good a finish. Point being don't blame the blade. The idea that they are as good as a Forrest is absurd. The carbide sharpness in a Woodworker 2 will outlast a Freud by way more than double.
@@aspees Hi Adam, I have a perfectly set up 3 hp Delta Unisaw: fence and blade alignment. So, I doubt runout or setup is the issue. And, assuming the saw and fence were not properly set up wouldn't it also follow that the "lesser" quality blades would burn even worse than the Forest?
That said, I do feel the carbide of my Forest is probably better quality than my Freud blades. And yes, I totally agree they give you a smoother cut. But the blasted thing still burns cherry and maple. And I have to break out a card scraper. I asked Forest about this when the blade was new and they admitted this and suggested I raise the blade height way up. Hmmm....I don't know about that. If you are happy with yours, then fine. Glad you are getting good results. But for $150 or whatever the Forest Woodworker II costs now --- I'll take a good Freud, CMT, or Amana and pocket the rest of the money.
@@MarkSWilliams27 Cherry is notorious for burning. The Forrest guys recommend raising the blade because it keeps the blade cooler. They should have told you to increase the feed rate. Most people feed too slow when using table saws. I would not choose the WW2 when cutting cherry. It is the wrong blade. I own all of the brands you’ve mentioned. They are all decent blades. They do not make a blade as good as the Chopmaster. Period. End of story. As far as cost. The cost difference is up front. After that each sharpening costs the same. Overtime the Forrest blades cost less, because they stay sharp longer.
#orthopedicshoetape 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Great info in this one!!!
🤪
When sarcasm is the truth.
Lol the tape and superglue thing is so ridiculous. Get some golf grip tape and be done with it
The '10 million dollar stick' is a good idea but unfortunately, not rigid enough. It will move your piece out of alignment when you put hold down pressure on it. I have ruined many miter saw cuts using this stick and no longer use it. Hopefully FastCap will produce a non-flexing (rigid) 10 Mil. Stick that will not flex and push your cut piece out of alignment.
Very interesting. I haven’t had any deflection in mine 🤔
I tried it as well. Besides the flexibility problem, I the "buttons" that contact the wood and tool surface are hard plastic that slip and slide. I felt more dangerous using the stick than almost anything else. It didn't take long for my 10 million dollar stick to end up in the trash.
@@wittworks at 6:22 in your video the wood moves forward from the push stick flex, and at 6:29 it moves back once you let off the pressure
Finally! Someone who isn't addicted to blue or green tape.
Ha! Did you see my last video?!?
You 2 have clearly never dealt with the brown garbage after its set bc you sure wouldn't use it again, ever
Random miter saw tip where you have fingers far enough away. Lick your finger/thumb and you can more easily adjust your wood with fine movement.
Here because of @ENCurtis. It seems that I’m probably not helping his goal of being first to 100k but I’m glad to have found he channel anyway.
CMT is not better than Forrest, they aren't even close to as good as Freud. They just have a bunch of youtubers shilling for them. The Freuds give you twice the carbide for the same price, and its higher quality carbide
Yes. Sadly this channel is mostly attempting to sell things. There are some tidbits of good info even for a seasoned carpenter.
Oh Michael. You don’t even know me. Much less how much I actually “sell”.

get a makita drop saw, you get a zero clearance bottom plate already. you actually need to do a first cut before using it to cut timber.
Like a miter saw? I’m a makita man.
@@wittworks sorry yeah we call it a drop saw, I meant mitre saw
I like your videos, and the good information therein. however, I think you might have waited a little too long to reveal the "joke" about those two stop blocks. A lot of people probably won't sit through all that and simply won't buy them. Not a service to JKM or Tamar; I'd be irked if I was one of them. The zero clearance tape you are using is exactly like conspicuity tape, just a different color and On amazon lots cheaper. That is what I use. You are right the lasers really don't work, and the Aux fence is a great idea, However a shadow line is easy to make and is perfect. So you are comparing a 5 year old trash blade to a new CMT blade?
