  • Making a cappuccino using the Sage Barista Touch by Heston Blumenthal.
    Extracted using the single shot dual pressurized filter, but running a double shot off the machine. These were supermarket bought beans (Aldi) with no roasting date.
    The machine also came with a Double shot pressurized filter, standard double shot filter, and a standard single shot filter.

    That’s looks like a latte I love my sage touch maybe because I use a actual cappuccino glass and less milk to the first level

    According to the Breville guide that’s a bad shot. Ur shots should start after 8 seconds ur started around 5 seconds. How did it taste to you?

      First Coffee maybe not clear in the description but this was a first run with some cheap supermarket beans....got a lot better with some good coffee and practice! 👍🏼

      @@DavesdoorsCoUk i have the Breville aswell. But my shots start at 6. How can i increase time? Ive tried decreasing grind size, more or less amount of beans and diff amounts of pressure on tamping. All the same still comes out at 6-7 seconds. Painful.

    So I put my settings to the finest I can (at 1) and my coffee is still coming out at 4 seconds?? Is that the coffee that’s bad or is something wrong?

      Sam A sounds like old dry beans, when were they roasted? Tend to find the dual wall filter worked best for old supermarket beans (the video is the dual filter and cheap Aldi beans).... buy coffee shop beans there’s a big difference...
      Also make sure grind amount and tamp pressure is hard enough. Your coffee ‘puck’ at the end should be a damp but solid disk, if it’s sloppy you didn’t use enough coffee! 😜

      Daves Doors it only has a best before date. I have the 990 model, but yeah the grind Is set to 1 which is the lowest it can go and the coffee is coming out at 4 seconds and looks a little runny still. Is that bc of the beans?

    • @rob1234599
      @rob1234599 5 років тому

      Sam A yep - probably no oil left in those kind of beans to create the required resistance/pressure against the water flow.

    The beans are garbage, you know that already. I have a Barista Express and ran some beans that I can only call "Training Beans" through it just to get my wife into the overall process and play about with the machine. I'd also suggest checking your milk temperature with a thermometer because to achieve the machine's 65 on the display, you completely bust through the 65 degrees on the temperature strip on the jug. I know that on my jug, the green on the strip at 65 corresponds to a separate milk thermometer.

    1st your grinder number so high the grinder should be in 2 or 3 maximum 4 so u can get creama and milk should b in number 5 to get silky milk

      @@Naughtystimpy this is the last time I honor you with my time you simpleton. Plenty about temperature being lower that it should on this machine not higher and regarding mainly water. This video shows temperature being set to 65° and the jug shows 75 I could believe in machine fault if that was other way around but you are so confident I believe in your paranormal skills that for sure it's the machine. And don't insult people that waste their time to teach you something so one day mommy will tell you "you are so smart "

      Lol these comments. I think it’s pretty obvious that the jug is registering higher because the steam wand is literally right next to where it’s registering the temperature so the hottest part of the steam wand is right where the steam is coming out which is literally right next to the temperature sensor in your milk jug so it stands to reason that it’s going to heat that part of the milk jug Higher. Plus other people have temperature tested and the machine does stop at the temperature that it says on the screen but there’s still like a good 6° carryover

      @@michaelturner5727 :) I've got some beans in that were roasted on Tuesday and they're lovely but I do question that milk temperature sensor, that seems to be lagging far behind the actual milk temperature on the strip. When the strip goes green at 65, that corresponds to my milk thermometer whereas on this machine it has long blown past the strip before indicating 65 on the screen. That does bother me. Mine is the Barista Express, same core guts but without the touch panel. No issues with the machine at all otherwise.
