    Really cool! I build a lot of parts for JD forestry division, but seems dangerous I wouldn’t want to be that guy in the skidder all day counting on one cable for your life. Why not yard em? Then there’s maybe a little less risk??

      Cost per ton is less than a yarder, and the cable is only traction assist. He would be completely fine without the cable, slopes are only about 40-60%. The winch is only to aid in uphill pulling, keeping the skidder from digging ruts. Also production is on average higher that a yarder side and insurance and risk factors are significantly reduced due to no boots being on the ground.

    And yes national forest are a great thing big trees are fricken awesome and we should protect those trees every logger agrees. When they get too big however the wood starts to rot on the inside making some of the tree unusable for lumber. They are great for sight seeing though and great for tourism.
