I absolutely love your gratitude for every fish, no matter how big they are. The fun you have on the water brings a smile to my face and joy to my day! Thanks for sharing your fun with us!
Well Done Micka! I went Thursday before the front over here at Watts Bar, windy as all get out. Caught a few, one 35lb, rest small, no pigs like you caught. First time using the Triple Threats, they are excellent! Looking forward to talking to ya at CATCON about your bottom rigs.
That was fun, great cat fish. Thanks for the insight on storm moving in, I am led to believe to fish after the storm. Don't be discriminatory against the small shad. I stack them and with 2 hooks you make a small bait into a large bait. It caught me a 58 and 65 pound blue's. 👍
Thank you. Yeah right before the front moves in is a really good time to find some nice fish. I have used multiple small shad on a hook before and like you I have done good with them. Just sometimes if there is good current while it's sitting there they sometimes just spin and trist every thing up. But your right they still make great bait.
Awsum job brother. I knew it was only a matter of time before you would hit on top of them pigs. Good thing too with this rain coming everything is going to be a repeat. Planning on getting out this week myself. Enjoyed it my friend 👍
That is some awesome fishing. If you are like me you don't want to wear a back brace but you look like it is hurting your back picking up the big ones. Too bad we can't come up with some kind of lift for that. hahaha
Lol funny you say that my wife has been on me about coming up with something to haul them bigger fish over the side of the boat. Like a ramp or something 🤔
Ol Polebender here Great video. And you really caught some good fish. Enjoyed the video we don't have skipjack here but it looks to be good bait. Is that the Tennessee River or Cumberland
Where bouts you fishing in this video? What river? I heard you mention the Kentucky up around the corner? I fish no the Ohio and have fishes at the mouth of the Ohio and Kentucky river in Carrollton Ky. Thanks! Love watching your videos! Motivates me to keep fishing! I’ve had 17 spine surgeries and it’s tough on me at times.
My lord 17? Well the fact you can move around is definitely a blessing. But I was on the Cumberland river. I fish there mostly. I really appreciate your support.
The weather is starting to shape up and I will be go on with the hooks. The 10/0 Triple Threat is still tops for me with the 8/0 Gamakatsu in second.@@mickaburkhart14
No. I was suspending baits. I tried dragging. Started at Ky Line and drug back to the bridge. Got one small one. Hard for me to drag. Have a foot controlled trolling motor. I dont have any fancy equipment, but the invite up here is still open.@@mickaburkhart14
With the temperature swings we are having, do you have suggestions on areas to look for blues besides the obvious? Anything you strategically do differently? Thursday it will be 62 here with some sun and last time we had some warm weather I couldn't find any bait and def no catfish. Just wasn't sure in the types of areas to look and ran out of time chasing.
Well if it's full sun and the temp gets like that I try finding shallower flats. Usually during mid day till the evening they will move up there. That water temp gets a little warmer and they will seek it out. That's what I would do anyway.
@@mickaburkhart14 well didn't go so hot 😂- caught 3 channels but no blues and nothing to write home about. I didn't have my graph at the console so I had to pick spots from previous trips and use the trolling motor transducer to look for bait so wasn't ideal. Gotta mount the new transducer on the transom this weekend. Was a dummy and pulled it to replace it the day before a fishing day so was 'flying blind' but won't complain. 60 degrees today, sunshine and decent channels 5-8lb range. I'll eventually figure out the blues when the sun is shining and it's warmer. I seem to only catch them on dreary cold days in the river channel. Still a lot to learn for me, only about a year into catfishing so still a rookie at it. Thanks for your tips and advice, just gotta get better and keep learning.
You still using Penn Fathoms ?? If so what size ?? 30's?? What pound test mono you spooled up with?? Just wondering Im shopping for reels, I just got some MadKatz rods
after watching further, you answered that question. I fish in Texas mostly in reservoirs and it's tough to maintain position using spotlock without any current. River fishing is a different animal.

Thank you for that. I'm really happy that I'm able to make the fun I have very noticeable. Because it aways really is. Thank you for your support.
Love watching this. You remind me of my Papa when he would hook a great sized fish.
You and Spencer are my favorite catfisher men . Great job Mike. 👍🏆
Thank you for that.
I Love Love Love your videos Micka! Always fun and enjoyable, no foul talk and very informative! Although I am 55 I watch you to learn more! Thank You
Thank you. I really do appreciate that. Lol yeah no foul language because it's not necessary and I have a lot of youngens that watch my videos.
Nice. Always learn something watching you.
Thanks.

Great video 👍🏻. Glad I found your channel. I plan on borrowing your planer board design, so thanks for that. Really enjoy your content!
Thank you I appreciate that. Welcome to the channel. Yes by all means makes some planner boards I'd love to see how they turn out.

Micka: "That's a good one."
Translation: It's not a channel cat😂
😆 yep that's true.
Nice fish. We're so ready for spring.
Thank you. I bet y'all are.
Fishing and powder coating..I thought I was the only person that loves both equally. Awesome

Helluva Catfisherman!! Glad I found your channel. 💯
Thank you I'm glad you did also.
Ol Polebender here Great video. And you really caught some good fish. Enjoyed the video we don't have skipjack here but it looks to be good bait. Is that the Tennessee River or Cumberland
Thank you. It's the Cumberland river. Up until that day they were wanting shad. Then it just flipped to skipjack. It's funny how picky these fish are.

Thank you
Great video 👍
Thank you
Great day Micka. Enjoyed the video.
Thank you
The other day on Barkley. All they wanted was skipjack
Love the videos
You sure found the spot.
Yeah I did. Thank you
What reels were you using in this video? PENN? Love your videos!! MORE! MORE!! MORE!! 😊
Thank you I appreciate that. Yeah I use the penn fathom 2s. I really love them reels.
Dang Micka always pulling them Pigs in the Boat 🤙🤙💯
😆 thank you
Great video
Looking forward to meeting you at cat con
Can't wait to meet you as well.
Those are some dandys
Yeah they were. Thank you.
Great show, where are you fishing at? How do you like the Piscifun Alijoz 400
Wondering why you don't suspend several rods right over structure like that last big tree you found in this video.
That's definitely something I can do. I'll have to try that.
Booom 🤜👍
You said you use 40 Lb test mono BBG on your reels correct? Did you catch the 100 lbers on that 40 lb test? You said 80 lb on the leaders??
Yep that's what I used to catch that fish. Also what I currently use today.
I tried that area when I was down there
Did you do any good?
No. I was suspending baits. I tried dragging. Started at Ky Line and drug back to the bridge. Got one small one. Hard for me to drag. Have a foot controlled trolling motor. I dont have any fancy equipment, but the invite up here is still open.@@mickaburkhart14

Yeah I still use my fathoms. I use the 20 size. Plenty big enough. I got it spooled with 40# berkley big game.
Looks like ur done testing the madkatz reels.. what was your thoughts on em?
Yeah went back to my penns. They are a pretty good reels for 6500 class reel. Handled everything I did with them.
Are you anchoring with an actual anchor or are you using spotlock on your trolling motor?
I use the spot lock. Just easier than pulling the anchor every time I decide to move.
after watching further, you answered that question. I fish in Texas mostly in reservoirs and it's tough to maintain position using spotlock without any current. River fishing is a different animal.
@@prosystemssupply yeah that's very true. But the current was good and the wind was coming from the right direction.
I just ordered another Micka rod
Well I really do appreciate that. Thank you.
Hi Micka, What size shrink wrap do you use on your rods? 3 inch? Thanks.
Shrink wrap on the rods? Sorry but not sure what you referring to.
from the rod butt to the the reel seat some type of wrap or tape?
@@gregorypolicastro273 oh ok no that's the actual rod. That's what the rod comes with. It's the new handles that the madkatz rods come with.

@@gregorypolicastro273 absolutely no problem. I appreciate your support.
Line counter??
