Thanks for this overview, David. I got the drum bundle recently with both these plugins but have had trouble dialing in the gate, and this was hands down the best tutorial I've seen on it. I hadn't understood the Key part correctly before, and now it makes total sense.
I was just mixing something last night that had ugly cymbal bleed on the toms. I have a feeling that this will help me get it as a clean as possible. Thanks for the video!
I've gotten to the point where I spend the time to chop up the toms so their nice and clean because most gate plugs I've tried I've not been happy with. This multi-band gate looks great -- I might have to give it a try. The drumeq is awesome -- thanks David!
Good god listen to that drumming lol. Nothing like an experienced pro. Legend. Also i like DrumEQ, a really good idea. Quick interface to deal with resonant frequencies.
I played in a decently known technical/death/thrash metal band for 10 years, Angel of Death was one of our crowd favorites to play. Good times. Love the content brotha.
100% useful, no fluff just straight to the point educational gold. I’ve been slow to use the Drum Eq since it’s so different; I have instead reached for more familiar standard eq’s but this helps! Also made me aware of the key listen features that I think they added in newer versions. Thank you!
Had a really annoying resonance on a vocal once that really sticked out on a certain note and repeated on several octaves. Didn't have soothe, yet, so I grabbed the DrumEQ, tuned the fundamental frequency to that offending frequency in the vocal and tamed it using the filters in dynamic mode. It's really an insanely versatile plugin.
molto interessante la soluzione del gate multiband...devo essere sincero, in tanti anni è la prima volta che vedo adottare questa soluzione e l'ho trovata molto ma molto interessante ed intelligente. Complimenti per il canale
Thanks for another great video! David, can you please explain when it's useful to use side chain on the gate when working on drums? And why it's useful to select only certain bands range to be a sidechain trigger. Thank you
Curious on how good you could do Death or Black metal drums...not only drums but a full mix of everything. Would be sik to hear from ya David. I understand those genres probably don't pay the bills for you but I'm curious what you would do with said Music.
That's all I listen in my free time :D also I've been doing rock and metal for my entire career really, just I don't publish or promote everything I do and sometimes stuff comes out so much later after I mixed or master I forget :D
Hi David! Great video as always. As a drummer I've been obviously following Jon in his youtube video venture! Did you mix also his other covers? would be nice to have some snippets on the setup that you made him! Cheers
David...I clicked the link and when I got to the plugins there was only a "Buy Now" button. Thought maybe there would be a place to enter the code after filling out the info but was not and charged full price. I have looked all over and there is no option to "add to cart" or " Enter Promo Code"
Let me check that out for ya! EDIT: we just checked and it's right there when you click "buy now" there's a "got a code?" hyperlink. What country are you in or are you using a VNP?
@@mixbustv I guess i missed it. I selected the PayPal option and expected to be taken to a verification page where you enter the code like a lot of other sites.

The before and after 😳 today engineers don't know how to mix without samples. You rock man!
Best tutorial for this EQ on UA-cam that I've been able to find!
Thank-you, David.
David: in the business of working with legends. Wow, love this sound. So refreshing to hear no samples on a drum kit!
This 😄
This is a killer plugin. When you turned it on, the kit sounded as clean as any EZDrummer library. :D
1 take, no edit. Holy!! Angel of Death yeah 🤘
i was just asking my friend why i havent seen a multiband gate plugin before. and then this video came along. thanks for sharing, ill check it out
Slayer?! Now this channel is getting interesting! 🤘
Amazing. Back to the basics. Simply a gate and an EQ done right already can do so much.

Thank you for the support!
Make sure to give the transient shaper inside the key listen a try as well
Hell awaaaaaits!
man your raw recording sounds better than most released "finished" recordings!!! Great Tutorial vid, really enjoy your tutorials, Thanks
Thank you!
A worthy tutorial for two great plugins that are silent giants of drum mixing. Really happy to see them get the MixbusTv treatment!
🤘🤘

Didn't know about drumeq, very cool
Oh wow, Jon is the bomb! So rad you work with him man, drums sounds great 👍
Very fascinating walkthrough, appreciated

I did this last year ua-cam.com/video/i9mR-Q5Boks/v-deo.html
But I only mastered it. If it happens I can do a breakdown
Nice one. 🍕🍕🍕
Killer!! Your really good at mixing Metal drums man.
Do you listen to a lot of heavier music on your free time?

Yes I did mix the covers too, I mix all his stuff (drum mix)
I have a video on his setup: ua-cam.com/video/G17Gq_i4o9o/v-deo.html
@@mixbustv spot on! I missed on that, gonna catch up ASAP 😁
Thanks! Other "drums related" content is always appreciated here! 💪
What does the “Transient” section of the multiband gate do?
Enhances the transients in the sidechain so it's easier to detect them
@@mixbustv yo that’s dope

@@mixbustv I tried to use the code "MIXBUSTV 25% Off" and it said invalid code. Does only work on certain plugin on the website?
Never mind. I watched the video again it is only "MIXBUSTV". Sorry. Thanks Dave. I guess I thought there was the 25% OFF that needed to be added.

These are two great plugins... two more for the tool box and can lose at least four
