That big factory!!! And the fire station! This makes me so happy. I’m on a Google maps hunt of all these buildings and sadly both were torn down and Google maps street view doesn’t go that far back in years to see them. This is awesome. Thank you for this video
Great video, this film looks to be shot right after production of Backdraft, based on set dressing on the buildings, IE "Flowers by Sheryl" and also damage to the Seagrave house as well as the large industrial building. Growing up with my favorite TV show EMERGENCY!, I always wanted to be a Fireman, and then Backdraft came out and really sealed the deal, I remember seeing it 8 times in the theater, absolutely love this movie. I'm going on 24 years as a firefighter.
A buddy of mine and I stopped to see the locations shortly after filming was done. We found a bunch of the production companies Call Sheets and Cast paperwork blowing around in the wind. I think I still have them around.
only just found this video backdraft holds a special place in my heart can you tell me was the buildings at the beginning of the video used for the final showdown
The final fire scene building is gone but the one to the right still standing. I was in town this week and also visited the spot where the fire truck flipped over going to the job. The scene were brian runs from the accident to the fire is very true. The distance In real life is extremely short.
The fire station in this video is gone, but the one in the second video is where a majority of the film was shot. The main firehouse is in this video: ua-cam.com/video/t2aMbiPuLkw/v-deo.html PS I read about the demolished firehouse.
+Alex Cosetino No, but I read that the warehouse used at the end was demolished in 1995 and I found a webpage that explained where certain scenes from the film were shot. The house that was shown at the beginning still stands, but the fire escape is now gone. The warehouse used at the end was demolished in 1995. www.itsfilmedthere.com/2010/01/backdraft.html?m=1

It was shot two years after production wrapped. Thank you for the comments and your service to your community!
Thank You so much for posting this video! This is one of my favorite movies and to to see footage of actual filming locations its pretty cool.
+Brandon Hicks Glad you like it. It's all a long time ago now.
+Michael Prendergast When was this filmed and how were you able to know the locations? Awesome video!
Shot around 1992-3. Knew a lot of the locations from just living in the city. Found the rest from cast/crew members.
Thank you!
Great vintage video of Chicago, thank you for sharing 👍
It would be nice if you put where we can find these locations. So we can go visit them ourselves or was that the point so that we can't go ourselves

Those would be interesting to read. Can you scan them?
@@michaelprendergast8241 I will give it a try. I found them in a tote and they are getting kinda brittle.
@@bmollenhauer70 Thank you. Let me know!
@@bmollenhauer70 I'd be keen for those too as this is one of my all-time favourite movies.

Yes, you are correct. Also, just to the right of that building when looking at the video is where the garment factory interiors were shot.
Clive Ford looks like it

Great video! Thanks.
Where is this building at in Chicago?
www.itsfilmedthere.com/search?q=backdraft
Was this all filmed in South Chicago?
Paul Fischer These locations on the video are all south of the downtown area of Chicago.
Was this just after the movie was made ?
Around 1992 or 93.
Mad how much Chicago has changed
Does somebody know the name of that building used for the garment factory fire? I'm just curious.
Dennis Boldin Inside or outside scenes?
Both. I want to know the whole building's name... if you remember it.
Dennis Boldin Interiors were done at the Cuneo Press factory. Exteriors were St Annes Hospital. Both demolished years ago.
No offense, Michael, but I was talking about just that building at 10:10.
Dennis Boldin St Annes Hospital.
Thank you.
Is the fire station still up?
