Don centennial great guy would eat ice cream with potato chips mixed in
This is awesome! Thanks for these videos of eng 69!
Mike , if you have more videos like that, please post them I love to watch the old school stuff
Yeah This is what we want to see
Hey i know that old balding guy with the glasses! Earl!
Yes, Earl Farrow. He was a lot of fun!
Don centennial nice guy was the boss on 125 met him there real nice guy
Yes he was. Was this before 69?
@ he was on 125 before 69 he floated too I think and would go to 44s house relief lieutenant
Love all the fire videos Mike please post more
Awesome
I have this movie
Awesome ❤❤❤
At the beginning it looked like the one member was annoyed after the white shirt dropped the hose.
Very observant! He was.
I am pretty sure the chauffeur in this video is the same guy who was in a video posted about four years ago called 'Chicago Fire Alarm Office'. They pick up a run to a fire in a basement.
You are correct. Stu Warren was with the CFD for 29 years and passed in 2004. He was assigned to E69 as Engineer until his retirement.
There is about 500 years of firefighting experience around that rig Outstanding !
And only one FF who knows what's going on.
Or cares!
That's awesome!
Some truth but great entertainment
That is so awesome that he is reunited with his old rig❤️
Fred Ward ("Tremors" 1 & 2)...yep!! 1980's...yep!! Thank you for the upload!! And let's not be forgetting the great Raoul Julia...this is a great little movie!! (Hey Huggy Bear!!)
Ward . . . don't forget Remo Williams.
The engine was running before the starter was disengaged!
Awesome to hear Engineer Novak talk about the stories on this rig!!!
Most the time we can’t see in a fire
And glowing light and heat
We go into this shit blind we can’t see it all by feeling
Muy buen video, gracias por subirlo, vi esta pelicula en 1992 cuando era aspirante a bombero
I worked with Mike Kovak. Great Enginner. Great man.
That poor motor..... Turbo gone? Is it even a turboed engine?
Cummins NTF 365 Turbo-Diesel
I miss driving code 3!
That's awesome
I loved the old Wards. They had a lot of cab room
When I started volunteering are firehouse had a 1971 and 1977 that was back in 1978.
Remember when Emergency Station #51 got the Ward - Lafrace 😊 to replace the Crown. My first ride as a volunteer ( Resident ) was riding sailboat on a crown. 😊 Our second engine was an older, very "Square geared" mack. Both were OPEN CAB The crown was so much easier to shift. I understand that when the production crew with some of the actors from Emergency drove the Ward across county to LA County They promoted the Paramedics programs to different States they drove through
Speaking of the fuel starving 😊 I just bought 1989 Spartan Gladiator pumper 😊 The first thing I looked at was DATES on filters marked in sharpy 😊 All fuel and lube filters we marked 2023. The Air filter big box, the sharpy markings were real faded. I could barley make out 2014. First place I went to order new $ 225 Air filter box. Yes clean fuel and air is needed. On a old JD 450-C dozer I worked on. It started starving for fuel. Just like that small. Filter on pump for injection pump. The JD dozer has a small screen filter under seat at tank supply to fuel pump. Just like this guy did, I cleaned that filter of being moved from junk from the fuel tank. The dozer ran great, with full power. I looked through the Detroit Diesel manual for the Spartan, and sure enough, on the blow-up view of the injection pump, it's shows that screen. 😊
Very interesting; thanks for uploading!
I wish they had this stuff all across America nowadays. Police athletic League needs to be brought back. Community centers need to be brought to the forefront of every community. We need to get people back together doing things instead of sitting on the phone and allowing our country, communities and lives to be torn apart
This is beyond cool! I am so happy this came up on my page for me. Absolute fan of the movie and it is very neat watching him talking about the truck when he used to run it! I’m not even halfway through as I write this comment and I am in heaven watching this
Glad you are enjoying it! Lot's of great history and knowledge being dispensed. He loves that rig!
@@michaelprendergast8241 I know I’m blown away! I won’t even lie. I’m watching it again tonight. Like I could’ve listened to Mike talk about that truck forever! Like I said, Backdraft is one of my favorite movies. I just didn’t know the history of this truck prior to the movie. So it is really neat to hear firsthand from the guy that used to operate it back when it still was in service and a working truck. I don’t know if there’s anything else from him about this truck cause I would be delighted to watch that too! The only thing I didn’t understand is the movie and again it’s a movie I get it the truck out of Detroit I would’ve sworn or they just use the Detroit sound! I heard them start this up and I was so expecting to hear a two stroke and it wasn’t. I don’t know what it is, but it did not sound like a Detroit! I was laughing and smiling when he told the story about how he hammered right by the fuel screen trying to get that out and how him doing that made that truck run so much better. When he told the part how the guy in the other truck couldn’t keep up with him I’m laughing right now. I mean I’m never ever glued to a video like this. This video has my undivided attention. It’s always amazing getting to talk with people who had first hand experience how many years ago. The wealth of knowledge is unbelievable.
Beautiful Iceman
Wow those men must have 400 years of firefighting experience all together. Huge Respect !
Yes and only one is still with us and he retired quite awhile ago.
Remember this
Does anyone know who is playing and the name of the song? I loved the song...
where's the truck ?
That big factory!!! And the fire station! This makes me so happy. I’m on a Google maps hunt of all these buildings and sadly both were torn down and Google maps street view doesn’t go that far back in years to see them. This is awesome. Thank you for this video
TREVOR HARRIS
Class of 1978. Bring back so many memories. The late Mr. Derendal and Mr. McLean's Calculus class and Mr Papaleo's homeroom class.
Very neat Looking YES the great movie ( Back draft) bought a 1971 SeaGrave Engine with 8V-71 Detroit Diesel, 5 speed Transmission. Just because of the Movie and manly because I Remember ( Mike Stoker) as Driver for Engine 🚒#51 on TV show. Granted my Engine 🚒 is a SeaGrave. Growing up looking at Fire Engineering Magazine. I Loved the SeaGrave cabs. I was able to get BIG bell for her. Added TWO electronic SIRENs, she only had the Federal "Q" on nose. I put a shiny crome siren speaker on drivers side bumper. Other speaker under that one below bumper. I can do ( YELP & WAIL) at same time. Only in Parades😊 I am slowly adding more Surplus Old Hose on beds. I have surplus Ladder on side, all donated to my Engine, by local Fire Cadet program, when they have to surplus Hose that wont pass hose test. I put the big old school (Federal #184) back on mount on Roof. The Department before they sold her. Had upgraded to a ( twin sonic) just like squd #51s.
Class of '87 ...Had all the teachers shown here. Brings back memories.
I graduated in 1988, wow
Cool
Was this just after the movie was made ?
Around 1992 or 93.
Linda Yu looked so much like Connie Chung
This video was made the I graduated from Gordon
