Casio Casiotone 1000P - Created Sounds (programmed)

- Demo of a few quickly programmed sounds on the vintage Casio (CT)1000P. Casio's first programmable additive synth (1981).
Sound is straight out, no external FX used. Audio clips in a few places (sorry) & I'm not demonstrating my ability (or lack of), just the synth sounds. Speaking of - It's got a sound/tone of it's own, very easy to use although somewhat limited. Lovely vintage piece of kit.
This definitely is one of the most "unpractical" keyboards I've ever owned. It has a prominent place in my bedroom-studio, together with a Casiotone 701, and it's going to stay there forever, and ever, and ever...... I love my vintage Casio's !!
Fun fact. You can get a simplified version of this synthesis engine in a couple of Casios Portasound keyboards from this era, like MT-70. You can’t edit them at all. But they sound similar
sounds like stereolab 😍
You prolly dont give a shit but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all the new movies and series on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my girlfriend for the last few days xD
@Marcus Jaxson Definitely, been using InstaFlixxer for since december myself :)
OMG. I had one of these. Was a real mistake purchase, midi keyboards were just starting to come out in 1983 and in a couple years there were fully programmable touch sensitive synths like DW8000 on the market...
... and the Yamaha DX range. I had the Korg DS-8, what a superb synth that was.
If only this thing had some way of synchronizing it's arpeggiator to an external clock.... I know a lot of people poopoo this synth, but it actually has a nice unique sound and it's arpeggiator is also quite cool.
678 was my favourite sound
Pretty cool. I have a Casio HT-6000 & CZ-1, (& had a Casiotone MT-205 when I was a kid) but I am not familiar w/the 1000P. How programmable is it? Does it have a simple ADSR envelope? (Attack Decay Sustain Release) I'm guessing it probably doesn't have any sort of programmable filter? (highpass or resonant) Still...it sounds pretty cool. There's something unique about Casio's synths.
+Gerry No Yes just simple ADSR, basic stuff but would have been cutting in its day. I also had the CT401 which was preset but had a very interesting sound, very retro. It's rhythm box was great. No longer own this now, sampled and sold :(
This one is definitely unique. It has an amazing cool super simple to program arpeggiator and ADSR but also a weird lfo (sort of delay button) i love this synth. And i got many :) (have the synth virus) ;)
What is this keyboard tuned to as standard as I have one of these and the tuning is messed up!
I had one. If I remember correctly it was 442 hz at A
@@robnewton3368 legend thanks it worked haha
I still have mine-going to get it out of the closet and into my daw!
underrated gem
Wish I hadn't given my one away :(
Sk1 has same function
Todos los casio suenan igual . Solo cambian la carcasa . Los unicos que se salvan son la serie cz
casio synths sounds so primitive
Basically a weak combo-organ tone emulator with some effects. Weirdly enough a very decent keyboard for figuring out combo organ parts in songs (for transcribing) without having to sit at a real combo organ for hours, because when you're playing the same chord/notes you'll get a distinct "phasing" sound as most harmonics will match. Preset 678 goes well for transcribing bass guitars.
Apart from that, the "muted" tones are quite decent, 070, or 000, etc. If it would be possible to reprogram this in some way, (fix the vibrato speed, and re-balance harmonics to favour the high end more, as the high end sounds whiny), then this would be a knock-out digital combo organ) I don't actually think the above things are impossible to do, just probably very difficult - a shame!
What's with the weird random crap played here? Making ambience for a video game or something? "Demos" by people that can't really play are a little pointless.
this comment was pure troll shit: telling others, what is supposed to be important and bitching out about people who "can't play" - even when its not about skills or music
Yes ambiance for a video game
Does the title say “demo”? They are just showing the extent you can program sounds.
@@Panama_lewis The title doesn't have to say demo, dude - The video in question is undoubtedly a demonstration of the casiotone to some extent - it would be stupid to argue otherwise. My point is essentially, if you're gonna show off a keyboard, you're gonna do a lot of a better job if you actually play something competently.
You sound like an asshole. My Dude is playing cool shit
