      Reimagine.. new age speak for re-design. AKA Yupspeak.
      Goes along with customer which is now "consumer".
      Both are BS and disrespectful in my opinion.
      It's all about marketing.

    Yeah! OO is the most balanced sounding size of all bodies. Both tonewood standards , Rosewood and Mahogany , are beautiful ❣❣ and both need to be in the arsenal of any serious acoustic player.

    It almost needs the rosewood at that size, in order to avoid being a little too thin. Rosewood makes it sound more rich to me, and the mahogany is approaching tinny sound.

    00-18 is for fingerpicking style, (think Steve Howe "Clap), 00-28 to be played more like a D-28

    The 18 has better clarity for individual notes. On the 28, the notes seem to get lost in the mix.

      very good comment. That's my observation on all spruce top and rosewood guitar imo. They sound nice for fingerpicking, but strumming them is like every single note fighting to be on top.

    In some of the bigger body guitars, the Rosewood sounds much better. In this smaller 00, the mahogany sounds more balanced and has an even tonality. The 00-28 sounds like someone turned the volume up to 9 and the treble all the way up, overpowering the mid and lower ranges, making them almost disappear. 00-18 between these two guitars.

      Very good explained.
      That' s exactly the reason I selected my 0 and 00 guitars with mahagony bodies.
      I don' t need that bit of volume gain I' m not on a loudness race when I play with my mates.

    Martins are probably better, but the Taylor 512 (a 00-size mahogany/cedar or spruce) is a kick-ass guitar. Also the 812 (rosewood & spruce) is great.

    • @belascialoja4812
      @belascialoja4812 5 років тому +2

      @Greg Demoes Cardboard, huh? There are a bunch of videos on YT from The Acoustic Letter, with Tony Polecastro playing Taylor vs. Martin, vs. Guild, vs. Gibson, etc. -- and the Martins definitely have the bluegrass sound - they OWN that sound, imo. But Tony seamlessly edits the video & audio, changing mid-tune the different guitars, and if I keep my eyes closed, it's sometimes really hard to know when he switches, say, a Taylor 914 for a 000-28EC, or an HD-28 for a Taylor 810, etc. I love their cardboard! /// I owned a Taylor 614, big leaf maple, with red cedar top, was a custom shop guitar -- and holy crap, it was the loudest and most responsive acoustic I had back then. It vibrated into your chest, and just sang out so cool, filled the whole room. I love Martins, too, tho. :-) I really never met a guitar I didn't like _something_ about.

    • @Naulisgood
      @Naulisgood 5 років тому +2

      Martin sounds good, but so fxxkin bad at QC. Taylor makes always good quality guitar with same tone for same model. I hate how Martin makes customers to figure out the proper sound of each model, pickin out from random possibility of buying something sounds shit.

    • @belascialoja4812
      @belascialoja4812 5 років тому +3

      @@Naulisgood - Other than the baby Martins, I don't think I've ever played a Martin that sounded like shit. I had one of those "X" series 000's -- just bare spruce top, no finish, and the back & sides made of kitchen cabinets wood -- "formica" -- and it played like a dream and sounded pretty dang good! Also I disagree about their quality control. I've never seen bad QC in a Martin or a Taylor. Or an Eastman, for that matter.
      Some idiot on eBay is selling "Blemished" Martins, but the company (Martin) is gonna stop him -- just watch. I think it's a sales gimmick, because I don't believe Martin releases "blemished" goods. Just saying.

    as with stereo speakers, the first job of the designer is to get the midrange right. Rosewood is just not a balanced sounding back/sides when paired with spruce. If you have to go with rosewood, at least balance it with a cedar or redwood top.

    • @cmeimgee
      @cmeimgee 4 роки тому +2

      As I get more familiar with tonewoods I am getting into this camp as well. One of the worst offenders is spruce over rosewood with nice new, shiny, bright strings. Yuck... And I have no idea why more steel string builders don't build with cedar.

    • @seltzerjunebug8760

      Speaking of stereo, the stereo recording is out of phase. With headphones it is very unpleasant, the L channel keeps pulsing in and out.
