Cooper's demo of this one was just fucking fabulous. Very cool piece - it sounds great,...and,..keep it in that tuning. Suits it.
I bought a 1939 0-18 from Schoenberg in 2014 for $6800. Excellent condition with a neck reset and replica bridge. The tone of the guitar is great. Amazing amount of sound comes out of it. I also have a 1944 0-18 that is super light with a very different sound. Don't worry about well repaired cracks. I have a 1952 0-18 with lots of repaired cracks that I bought from Mandolin Brothers that sounds fantastic. The old Martin 0-18 guitars do have unique tones and resonance different than the sounds of new guitars. I have eight old 0-18's. I bought them before the prices started rising. 1923 to 1968. The guitar I am missing is a 1929 0-45. I have a less expensive 1931 0-21 that is incredible. 0-18's are great!
Wow alot of 0's! I just got a 63' 0-18!
@@TheXtaticShock The 63 is probably very nice. I got started with a 1968. Actually my parents bought me a 0-18 for a graduation present a very long time ago. I played it in the streets of Europe and then gave it away (long story). Now the 0-18's have returned. Maybe good karma.
As much work as this Guitar needs, It is STILL a Classic Martin GREAT SOUND.
This little gem looks and sounds great BUT we all officially request a pic of the nest inside the body just for the LOL.
I love your demos and Martin guitars. Great reference for a player and studio engineer like me. Your audio is excellent for UA-cam. Thanks
The oldest guitar I ever played was a late 40s Gibson J-45. It sounded amazing and was super lightweight. I've also played several late 60s and 70s era Martins.
My dad just bought a very very similar guitar from a friend of his, but it’s an 1880’s/1890’s model, long before Martins conventional naming conventions. He took it to a shop in Nashville and had everything authenticated. Which is cool and all, but what’s really cool is how friggin great it sounds. Very cool guitars.
I had a dealer sell my father's 1929 Martin 0-18, about 6 months ago. I learned my first chords on it when I was 6yo. It had a lovely sound, but the wide fretboard was not comfortable for my hand. Looking at current prices, I guess I should have waited and got a lot more for it. I have several other guitars that I find easier to play, but none have the sweet tone of that instrument.
Great playing Cooper!
WOW! A guitar older than me,amazing.
Stunning playing as usual. Small body guitars sound sweet. They are under appreciated and they record really well.
Nice voicing of the guitar Cooper. Thanks for the education Chris and Cooper
Well okay a guitar with that "lived-in" sound, mud dauber and all
It would be interesting to hear the guitar after a reset.
Sounds great as is. Preservation requires working. This will also slow deterioration.
Great find, guys! Cooper, thanks for your demo. I love listening to you play.
Doesn’t the secretions of a mud bug enhances the dynamic sound of the guitar? Specially spatial? It’s a steal 🙃!
Martin 0-18's are underrated... like you say, once they open up they have a really sweet sound.
Mine is a couple years old now, great for playing on the sofa and really good fingerstyle guitar!
Have Martin do a limited edition of this, a new 0-18 'burst would be awesome!
I wish I could afford one!! What a beautiful guitar 👌 another great video guys!
Very excellent presentation -----
When you mentioned Casey Jones it made me smile. One of my all time favorite songs is "Don't ha ha" by Casey Jones and the Governors. And I guess even he will be able not to laugh seeing your always entertaining and funny videos. 😊💚💚💚
Yuppers, I would love that guitar! But...I already have a '75 Mossman Great Plains that also needs a reset! Alas...it's only money, right?!
buy made in California Guild m20 or m40 for 1/10th of the price , you'll love that small body guitar
A new Guild M-20 is not that much cheaper than a new 0-18 Martin...
@@timnewman1172 buy used
Really interesting tips here. Plus, has Cooper been studying with Tommy Emmanuel? LOL Bravo!
Great video. I love listening to Cooper ply.
god what a fucking beautiful guitar, beautiful playing. I neeeeeeeeeeeeed one
Clawson Music here in Corpus Christi said they stopped selling Martin Guitars because they had problems with the binding coming off. They said it's because Martin stopped using hide glue and the adhesive now is not holding. Do y'all have the same problem?
Are vintage guitars worth their asking price? Only the person considering such a purchase can answer that question. I prefer newer acoustic instruments that sound great right out of the box. There is not always a relationship between an older guitar and a superior sound, let alone playability. I once played a 1958 Gibson J-200 that sang, and a 1954 J-200 that sounded like marshmallows hitting cement. I've played a few 1960s Martin dreadnoughts that sounded like they had laminate tops and were quite mediocre. Purchase an instrument that you enjoy playing or it's just a museum piece that lingers around, taking up space.
Beautiful.
Hi it just sounds pretty well.
Don't let Kurt Russel near it!
I drive an 0-18. It’s only 3 years old though
If I bought a 1940 Martin with no checking in the lacquer I would be disappointed. 😂
Great tone!
What a great sound
Yea I like those strings so corroded they cut right through your finger tips! Kidding That guitar sounded cool to me though... Reminded me must change my strings.... Or not till 2032
Mud dauber nest for natural sounding reverb?
I agree with bigdirtystefan!!!! Really want to hear a demo when you are done with repairs.
i would try to sell to ian anderson from jethro tull. after all he made the 0 famous on the rock stage. i believe he palyed 0-16 ny back then.
does this one come with its own kool-aide, or do we need to drink the existing Martin kool-aide?
Peace. 🐰💙🇺🇸🎸🎶🤝✌️
