Just a note for those attacking this interviewer. Trust me - I'm a journalist - and she did an outstanding job. This exchange is an excellent example of several exchanges where Bari did it exactly right. She challenged, but not stupidly. And she has poise, confidence, but no pettiness. Good job.

To the people having a problem with this interviewer: She let's him talk. She asks a question and then listens to his answers. As far as I can tell she asks questions without the intent to try and trap him, but solely to get an answer. Such behaviour from journalists is to be commended. She and people like her should be more prominent.

Bigtombowski Agreed. However, big entities (not limited to just Universities) know they have the finances & name to bankrupt individuals in court. Unfortunately a big entity that is already known is often automatically afforded more credibility than the unknown individual, in the eyes of a judge. Once you lose in court, there is no hope of winning an appeal. This loss simply adds more credibility (even though it's bogus) to the big entity's claim against you. As Peterson says every decision has risk to it. I can tell you if you try, they can & will make up a lie about you & simply run you right into the ground. Your name & credibility is ruined because unfortunately much of the public also tends to believe in the well known big entity, & most of them have no fear of publishing their lies. It could prevent you from ever working again, or suffering such financial ruin you lose your home. It's a big risk to speak out about powerful entities. Good for Peterson for doing what he did, wish there were more like him.

I am am I He is, but he needs a Semenko along side him to amplify his blows and make sure they really sting.
He's a fundamentally decent person, extremely so- it's very hard or impossible to commit as he has to the greater good and simultaneously maintain a level of killer instinct a guy like this requires and deserves for his defence and in defence of his excellent principals.
It's not to say he doesn't hit back, but most of his blows are way above the heads of his opponents and aren't degrading or humiliating which is the frequency on which he's being attacked.
Christopher Hitchens gave himself away in the opposite direction, too often allowing truth, decency and principle to be short changed for his requirement for being seen to win. However he was happy to devastatingly embarrass people.
A suitable pennance for him would be to sit next to Peterson leashed under submission to his higher intellect, purpose and decency, to be loosed upon anyone who underhandedly offsides Peterson and his aims and principles the way Hitchens so enjoyed doing.
That would be kharmically and viscerally satisfying on countless levels, and I suspect practically effective for Petersons mission.

Anyway, the comments became public when Lindsay Shepherd, the TA, recorded (most likely illegally, btw) and published them for all to see. Surely if Peterson were genuine he would sue her as well for releasing sensitive information about him? (unless she asked him and he consented).

Except that they lied about her to other members of the teaching staff that were in the room together. Ergo, slander.
She recorded them in a one-party consent province (as all of Canada is, unlike America), so they did not need to give consent to being recorded as long as she knew that she was recording and was the intended recipient of the communication that was being recorded. Anyway, the comments became public when Lindsay Shepard published them for all to see the slanderous language being used against her by other members of the teaching staff at her place of business. She literally could not defend herself from such slander (which it is) without recording it (which is legal). The fact that those attacking her choose this as their hill to die on is pretty telling that they don't have anything better to go with.

Slander is a crime, much like murder or theft, nobody has a right to it and if you decide to resort to such action you will be punished under a law with an appropriate sentence depending on how heavily you broke the norm that is described in law. Just because you decided to break a law and now want a free pass, do to your entitlement or whatever illusion, doesn't change the fact you committed a crime

I am a Laurier grad (2005) and until this incident occurred, I was the biggest proponent of the institution. I fully support the decision to file lawsuits and I wish I would have been beside Ms. Shepherd for support when she was called before that 'Troika' last fall. When I was there, we really did not know most of the professors' political leanings until we reached the third and fourth years. The difference I felt was that the Marxists were a lot more open about it and would really speak at length on the virtues of Marxism and the evils of capitalism given ANY opportunity, while the more conservative professors would only give their personal points of view if asked directly. My experience was that I went in as a centrist and came out as a much more informed centrist after being exposed to many different points of view. Now it seems that the 'activist' professors have taken over the place at the expense of the academics, at least in the arts.

He was slowly slipping deeper and deeper into benzodiazepine addiction/dependence and from what I've heard withdrawal/detox from those drugs may be the worst among many horrible drugs to get off of. I sure do hope that he makes a full recovery. His voice/perspective is so desperately needed now as we slip back into another chapter of far left subterfuge and outright fraud going into the next election. The DNC and their media lapdogs are already gearing up a full court press of anti-white racebaiting and feminazi anti-male, anti-hetero fuckery of the sort the Cathy Newman interview would be merely be par for the course.

Calling Hillary a cunt is an expression of dislike, it is a criticism, but not slander. However, calling Hillary an enabler and protector of pedophiles is slander, slander aimed at doing harm to her reputation. I have no evidence that Hillary is an enabler of pedophiles, and therefore would be quite rightly open to a legal challenge on the basis of slander, or in this case, libel.
At no stage would calling anyone a cunt become slander, therefore it could never be illegal.
By dent of a more fine grained example.
Insult: "Bill is a wanker." This is a general pejorative that makes no claim to whether or not Bill actually masturbates.
Slander: Bill has a masturbation problem that he has sought medical help to alleviate. This is slander if it is NOT true.

The Red Jester yes, of all people to accuse of that.
A sensibility likely closer to that which initiates colonial catastrophy pulls that out against one of the few the world ever has at any time with humanity enough to guide us all toward healing our biggest wounds
It's an outrage. Makes me almost resentful of peacetime law against violence, because assuming the story is correct, he's counting on its protection while disrespecting it by behaving like that.
He so deserves to get popped.

I was surprised to hear people took issue with the interviewer here. I guess they're so used to interviewers attacking Peterson that it's a knee-jerk reaction to take an aggressive stance toward interviewers for perceived slights, even if they don't exist.
This interviewer did a great job. She was clearly there without bias, to discuss Peterson's thoughts and opinions, and challenge his reasoning when she felt she didn't understand it adequately enough. In doing so, she enlightens herself and the audience to the nuance that we might have otherwise missed, and still been questioning, had she not challenged him. And I'm sure Peterson feels the same.

Sheppard's deposition is "It's like a novel of stupidity".I love how the last question is answered and explained with clear calm common sense, admitting it took time to come to, illustrating the risks in making decisions in life. I do however have a moment where the interviewer is nodding(intimating listening) and I imagine another version akin to Ray Winstone's character in "Sexy Beast" during an intimidating scene with Ben Kingsleys, Don Logan." what's that stupid nodding you're doing?' I can't help it. Maybe it's a reach or a fantasy or why I admire Jordan Peterson and Kingsley, though perhaps there are elements of both in each.

Given how you're here under a Peterson video you're probably not that much of a " Regressive" leftist. But you used the same logic as them. This can also be used to justify online hate mobs. What's the difference here?

I’m glad he’s suing them and I honestly hope the professors responsible lose their jobs with no chance of being hired again, and that’s namely for their blatant abuse of the power they had as administrative faculty. It goes without saying that those who play around irresponsibly with a loaded gun, taking no consideration of the consequences, have absolutely no right to ownership of that gun.

People do not seem to understand what freedom of speech means. It means that you can say anything you want and not be taken away by the police for saying it. But there can be repercussions other than the law for something someone said. I could start shouting racist vulgarities in my workplace and I cannot be jailed for it. But I will be fired immediately and possibly sued if they believe that they lost work because of my tirade.
