Las Vegas Vlog Days 3 & 4 - Vanderpump | Ski Lodge | Secret Pizza | Slots | Roulette

Welcome to days 3 & 4 of our stay at the Cosmopolitan on the Las Vegas Strip!
Day 3 started with slots at the Cosmo with a brief break to spend time chatting with ‪@TomMindy‬ and other Las Vegas enthusiasts from our room overlooking the Bellagio fountains and Strip. Not only was it fun but it also stopped the financial bleeding for a bit. This trip was not going well in terms of gambling, but we got right back on that horse in hopes that our luck would change. (It didn’t.)
After more gambling at the Cosmo casino, we walked to Paris and stopped at Vanderpump á Paris, one of our favorite places to eat and drink. Jon started with a sidecar (his fave) and Gillian went with an espresso martini (her fave), only this one came with a beignet and chocolate on top! Vanderpump never disappoints. We had the beef sliders, a gorgeous Salade Jolie, a chicken pot pie (coq au vin), and goat cheese balls. Good thing we hadn’t eaten yet because it was a lot, but so very good.
After Vanderpump, we tried some more roulette, which we’ve been enjoying because we can sit together and gamble and because the stakes are low and we get to play - and enjoy “free” cocktails - for a long time. We don’t win a lot, but we don’t lose a lot either (we might need ‪@thevegasdawg8983‬ to help us with some strategy?!)
After Paris, we walked up the Strip, past the remnants of F1, on our way to the Venetian, which was as packed as we’ve seen it. It was actually hard to find machines we wanted to play, but we managed and then decided to try our luck at the Palazzo, which was also hopping. We tried some slots as well as roulette. Still no luck.
It was getting late and we were tired and going broke, so we walked back down the Strip to our new home - the Cosmo. Can you tell we really loved staying there?
Day 4 started with that view of the Bellagio fountains and Strip and a leisurely morning. When we finally made our way downstairs, we went to Jose Andres’s China Poblano. Such an interesting mix of Asian and Mexican food! We both had a drink that might be the best we’ve ever had. It’s called the Lucky Peach, and it’s absolutely delicious - light, refreshing, and goes down so easy. We each had two and would happily have had more, but we had to get going with our day.
We hit the slots again and each got a few okay bonuses here and there, but overall were still way down for the trip. Oh well, can’t win ‘em all.
When we’d worked up a thirst again, we decided to try the Ski Lodge at the Cosmo. We had seen videos of and it looked so cool, but we had no idea where it was! When we finally found the nondescript door by Superfrico, it was locked! We were thinking perhaps there was a special knock or code. Things were looking grim until we asked the hostesses in front of Superfrico, who told us we could get to the Ski Lodge through their entrance. Phew! When we finally got in, we were so glad we hadn’t given up. It was dark and cozy and really did feel like a mountain ski lodge on a cold, snowy night. The servers wore ski suits - perfect. Jon had a Yukon Cornelius, which looked like a ski slope atop a beautiful, amber liquid. It was thick and rich and studded with nuts. And very strong. Gillian had a candy cane margarita, which was an interesting twist on a classic drink. We had a great time sitting there, enjoying our drinks and the fantastic music! We highly recommend a visit and will be going back ourselves.
We gambled some more and then decided to grab some pizza for dinner, so we made our way to Secret Pizza and ordered an entire pizza! We weren’t planning to do that, but it turned out to be cheaper than us each getting a few slices. Anyhoo … we took our pizza and went back to up to our suite and ate what we could while watching a movie and the Bellagio fountain show. After dinner, it was back down to the casino for some more losing … I mean gambling before calling it a night. The next day we flew home, leaving behind our gorgeous Cosmo suite. So sad.
