U's manager Graham Rix finally got his first win at the ninth attempt at home to Rochdale. The comfortable 2-0 victory came after United's play-off hopes had been ended the previous weekend, but Rix's side were able to end the season on a winning note thanks to goals from Steve Basham and Dean Whitehead, who also collected the Supporters' Player of the Year award. Oxford, who had spent much of the campaign in the top three, finished the season in ninth place.
