One of my biggest issues was never completing the follow-through. The issue was that I used to pick a point just above the ball instead of in front of it. I tried this, and it made an immediate difference to my ball striking in both driver and Iron. Thanks for this wonderful suggestion!
This really works, tried it today and lowered my score on my regular golf course. Use it on all clubs including your putter. With the putter this view generally brings the hole into your vision thus making it a more acurate line.
Least I could do... looking foward to more great tips so I can dig deep into pockets of my opponents.... decent golf weather finally in Michigan...FORE....
I seem to recall that Jack Nicklaus would tilt is head slightly to the right allowing for a fuller backswing and then allow it to swivel to the left during the downswing.
Been using this trick for some time now from a previous video of your and it's help my iron game immensely!!! Just keeping on eye on the target side also automatically transfers your weight.
I did not see this video Alex before today. Yesterday I played, I practiced the eyes forward on all clubs. For anyone who might be sceptical, it works! you hit it straighter, further, because you hit it straighter, and you play with confidence which helps in every area, you just can’t teach confidence unfortunately 😞 Give this a go, it works!! Tip, if you do, hit with your right arm.
This is a really great tip hopefully it helps some people especially if you feel stuck after the ball. This is something I recently found out from a lesson the other week. I was lacking shoulder tilt and eye line was too over the ball on my irons and getting stuck with my head down too long making me pull my hands in and around to get through the ball causing alot of low toe shots. This pairs well with doing some other drills too.
Hi Alex, keep up the great work. I do something basically the same however instead of a star I simply put the initials of my Managing Director in the same spot. Helps with focus and also puts a satisfaction smile on my face (even when I miss hit one and drown it). 👍😎🇦🇺
Hi Alex, I generally look at the back of the ball with driver off the tee and generally hit straight with good distance 260 to 270 yards. But I might have at crack at this today and see what happens. However I do have a different swing methodology to you: 😀. However I definitely look in front of the ball when using irons as this pretty much eliminates the chunk shots. Keep up the great work .
Great thought and so simple. Aren't all great ideas easy? One ridiculously simple change transferring your release. Keep it up with these great thoughts.
My latest one is pointing my lead elbow at my target instead of having the elbow open towards the ball. Really a game changer and something most all pros do, especially dechambeau.
I HAD to look up this video, again, to comment after watching - then trying - this eye technique. Along with squaring shoulders to target line, this was AMAZING! Really worked on the course for taking divot after the ball and having proper shaft lean. Thanks! - Scott
fantastic hip turn when focusing on the target not the ball I look four feet in front of the ball and just glance the ball with my right eye but I keep looking at the flag or fairway. Thanks for a great video
Being left eye dominant my head tilts to the trail side like Hogan and Nicholas ( a couple of mildly successful players - lol ) but is not stuck at all. I look in the general direction of the ball but I am swing the sole of the club to spank the ground under the ball.
Hey Alex, really like this tip, I've been doing somethingbsimilar for a while and without being able to explain it as well as you do to my mates this is perfect description! I was 1 who's partners would say " you lifted your head" or so on and so forth so I kind of adjusted to this and never looked back.......(you see what i did there......It's All about looking forward 🤣) Great vid as ever bud
When I tell a playing partner, a total beginner, to keep his head down, it is not with this in mind. Most beginners, myself included, have a tendency to stand up on the shot to see where the ball is going, before they have hit it, causing misses, blades or tops. I try and keep it down, but that doesn't mean it can't be turned towards the target through impact. Great tip
Great tip, I tend to be left eye dominant at address, which I have decent ball striking ability. So is it a question of preference? I understand the theory of the head following to the finish, but since that isn't an issue, I am asking what you prefer, teaching aside.
Love your lessons. You have helped this old guy a great deal. We used the 2 color balls back in the early 80’s. Ping made them is some crazy color combos. Keep up the great work. Dave.
This is helpful but are you right eye or left eye dominant?? I think this may be more helpful for right eye dominant right handers but I would be interested in your opinion.
Hey Bro, off subject but I tend to hit very straight with the exception of my wedges from 50 or so yards where I tend to pull them about 3 to 5 yards to the left, any suggestions?
Hey Alex, i have some issues with my 50% and 25% strength chips. I'm doing something wrong and not sure what! I think i have this idea sometimes that as i'm chipping 50% i only use 50% power etc. as a result, some chips turn out great and there are more like from bunkr to 5 yards forward in the bunker. Any tips on how to keep it simple and consistant? thanks
Hi Alex, i have the chipping yips. I can't stop my eyes following the club on take away no matter how hard i try. If i have a few practice swings, address the ball then close my eyes, i usually strike the chip so much better. Any tips? Ive been told someone with this, needs to look at the ball a lot longer to focus?
Alex that eye trick doesn't work if you are right eye dominant. A right eye dominant golfer needs to tilt their gaze to a spot behind the ball. Nicklaus was right eye dominant which is why his gaze ALWAYS tilted slightly behind the ball.
huh... I look at the ground behind the ball cuz thats where I want the lowest point of the arc .. I look in front of the ball with irons for the same reason
very good it has changed my game , for years ediots would tell me look at the ball with your left eye or right eye , witch ever is the domanint eye , thats BS look at it with BOTH EYES ...........................
sorry alex. got to say this is one of worst lessons i have ever seen. shows a complete lack of experience. but, re: the old "head down", maxim. obviously, it was incorrect if we were being told to maintain the position of the head in the follow thru. but, it may just have meant that we shouldn't raise the position of the head thru impact. i don't know. but, if that is what was meant by the expression: "keep your head down", it was entirely correct.
*Focus on the front!! I promise this really does make a HUGE difference 🙌🏼*

Nice little drill to free up your follow through on your hitting the golf ball
Thanks!

Great video Alex and so simple. Cheers from NZ. John Shaw

Brilliant will try this, this week thanks Alex

Great for all abilities this. Thanks Alex
Great tip! I certainly will give this a try. hanks.

One could put their ex wives name as well for similar effect

Solid tip as usual Alex. Your channel is excellent.
Great thought and so simple. Aren't all great ideas easy? One ridiculously simple change transferring your release. Keep it up with these great thoughts.
Thanks Alex, it makes sense. I’m going to try it tomorrow on the range
Hi Alvin let me know how you get on
Thanks Alex ..I like this eye tip..next at the range we will give it a go..great video
Hey Alex, thanks for this tip and the left knuckles ahead of the ball at address they really work well and improve ball striking dramatically!
Changing my focus point. Great tip, thank you!
“The Almighty SMACK!” needs to be on some merch, Alex! 🙌🏾
A truly amazing tip... unbelievable
These minor setup tweaks are the best. The golf swing is a reaction to setup.
My latest one is pointing my lead elbow at my target instead of having the elbow open towards the ball. Really a game changer and something most all pros do, especially dechambeau.
Thanks for the tip Alex. I’ll give it a try on the course tomorrow.

Thanks scott! i’m so glad this worked for you! Keep up the good work
Great stuff, Alex. Thx
fantastic hip turn when focusing on the target not the ball I look four feet in front of the ball and just glance the ball with my right eye but I keep looking at the flag or fairway. Thanks for a great video
I’ll try it young man!! I’ll tell you how it comes out.
Dude might have simplified the first foot of the takeaway which I’ve always struggled with the most, just feels smoother. Subbed 👍
thank you!

Annika Sorenstam was an expert on that move!
follow, yes. don't look forward before you hit it.

Interesting, I'll try it my next range session
Hi Peter let me know how you get on
Another great video
Are you the kingsman dude? Very good tip.
Morning Alex just enjoyed that video can't wait playing Thursday will post my response 😀
Alex. Great video! Can you give us some tips on hitting the irons pure? If the toe of my irons would be the sweet spot I would be a pro by now.
ua-cam.com/video/2ItPRFyuWa4/v-deo.html Here you go!

yes exactly
@@AlexElliottGolf thanks for the reply.

thanks so much!
This is helpful but are you right eye or left eye dominant?? I think this may be more helpful for right eye dominant right handers but I would be interested in your opinion.
Thanks Alex , I was turning my head the opposite way. Hmm, will try it . Your swing does look more free with that trick
Interesting! I do that for fairway bunker shots and putting. However, Nicklaus did the complete for all of his shots. Comment?
How do you find it??
Great I suppose it’s the same or similar to hitting you irons when you look head of the ball but not as far ?
Well done alex 👏 👍
Thanks roy
I like this!
i was born with a lazy left eye (no vision ) .any tips alex what to focus my right eye on . many thanks
I’m the exactly opposite. I pre turn my head to the right for better rotation and hit in to out.
Alex, would this encourage a path to the left though?
Holy crap! You what this means, the scarlet witch is a golfer ;)
Hey Bro, off subject but I tend to hit very straight with the exception of my wedges from 50 or so yards where I tend to pull them about 3 to 5 yards to the left, any suggestions?

do you use this eye drill also with irons ?

I love your videos and have got so much out of them. Love the new camera but please cut your nails hahahah😂
😂😂
Does that work with your irons, focusing on the front of the ball.
I’m opposite
I want the star at back
Keeps head back and stay back, as I’ve been over the top all my life
Wouldn't this technique restrict your backswing though?
If not done right yes… to be honest it’s actually hard to get right so it could happen. Great point
Golf instruction is 90% undoing stuff mates say
Alex that eye trick doesn't work if you are right eye dominant. A right eye dominant golfer needs to tilt their gaze to a spot behind the ball. Nicklaus was right eye dominant which is why his gaze ALWAYS tilted slightly behind the ball.
u think head wld tilt better if the target was on back side of ball.
It’s probably the same as when you are using a chisel you don’t look at the top but the point?
How come many instructors say 'do not look at the ball' hit through it
Irons too?
huh... I look at the ground behind the ball cuz thats where I want the lowest point of the arc .. I look in front of the ball with irons for the same reason
Annika Sorenstam
