Man, this is huge. Community events like this are the mark of a thriving game and confident developer. You love to see it.
I guarantee that my brain is too small for me to even enjoy attempting any of this, but I am very excited about what this event could lead to in the future and the example it will set for community interaction
This event is awesome! Great to see Yorstar collaborating with Lungmen Dragons! Posted my first run earlier today, going to try and get a better time until the 13th. Thanks for all the hard work Kuma and everyone else organising the event!
Congrats to all of you on the big opportunity! It sounds super fun but I might have to pass on my own participation due to being likely unable to attend any live event... But I'll spread the word and look forward to all updates!

Congrats on getting the chance to do this! It's a big step and I'm glad we're getting this kind of positive community engagement.
I'm going to enter for fun and while I don't expect to qualify I think it'll be an interesting way to grind the mode!

Got really confused with Zafang's example of doing ending 2, but I believe ending 1 works since there is no specific ending requirement. Anyways, mines isn't that great with a 32min 21sec run, but I'm only in it for the fun and wouldn't want to loose my sanity grinding the perfect all encounters no combat node run....
Anyways, to any of you tgat are seeing this, what's your fastest time? There's not really an IS3 speedrun video in yt so I can't get a good grasp of what a good/fast time is lol.
Yes, you can do any ending
Someone on Twitter posted a 00:25:XX time. The fastest I've seen other than that was 00:27:XX, which was my own run.
This sounds so hype, I hope the actual tourney will be at an EU friendly time

I find it an odd choice there are is2 themed prizes for an is3 event but other than that, looks awesome.

As someone with a bit of a Speedrun experience with playing FTL
This gonna tickle my brain once again.
Instead of random encounter with enemies of bullshit loadout and Extra enviroment hazzard on top, its gonna be how RNG gonna bless me with Relic and operator pick.

Hey Kuma, I was wondering about the submission process, what if you get a fast run and submit it, only to get an even faster run afterwards? Can you resubmit a time, or will any submissions after the initial one be ignored?
Other than that I'm really excited to see how this entire event plays out, great to see the community being put in charge of organising something like this.
From my knowledge, you can keep submitting, we never discussed one submission only, so it should be fine

We had a discussion about this, and the best solution is to choose a time where the biggest volume of the audience would be available. The time for the main event either is posted on twitter or will be posted later today. It will be unfortunate if someone has to cancel the participation because of that, but that's how international tournaments work

Is the entire tournament going to be held on Calm Seas difficulty? What are the conditions that players will be placed into when they get into the mix? I am super excited for this and will 100% try and get into it.
Only the preliminaries. But no worries, because we are also not playing 15 nor anything like that
Kuma, I don't know if you can/allowed to answer this, but I'm curious. How would the judges know if the run sent is valid or not (aka the user cheated through whatever means)?
Yeah, answering this kind of question is not really ok, but you don't need to worry, we discussed this A LOT, and we have actual professionals on our side

What are the odds the fastest time is going to be someone who got 8 hope into random 2 snipers for an E2 pozy and spammed encounters till floor 5?
I don't know, but it's a speedrun, it's how it works
it fun but with wooden PC I cant speedrun IS 3 hope all participants get luck in deep sea adventure

as a mainly smartphone player, can i submit the IS3 speedrun just for the lulz, knowing that i'd probably just dip on the main event even if i miraculously quality?
You can play the main event on the phone. Some of our staff play on phone too, you just have to know how to screenshare on discord

How will the lockout be organised? Will players have to live stream somewhere or need to play with an emulator?
players will need to screenshare on discord. It can be done on the phone
