    On almost every hp forum people are saying you can only use a Radeon 7450 low profile video card in these machine's. I have been building computers for dam near 20 years and I had to giggle as long as the card is under 75 watts the power supply should work fine and as long as their is a slot for the video card and you have the proper drivers it should function properly. I have to say I have been watching a few of these videos on the HP sff and I think this is the most upgrades I have seen thrown into one of these machines. Grate job on the video I think this lets a lot of people no you not just stuck to a low end graphics card because someone on a HP forum says you can't use other cards.

    Before you proceed with any hardware upgrades, first check if latest bios is installed. Hit F10 key on startup and check information menu. If bios shows version 2xx, it is old and you need to upgrade to latest 3xx bios.

    Man, the HP Elite 8300 do not support enabling XMP profile for the memory sticks, so it runs them at CL11. A waste of money putting fancy memory into it.

      The CPU is only drawing about 50 watts max and the graphics card can draw a max of 75w from the PCIE slot. So even with a bunch of USB attachments and Sata power for drives, you shouldn’t hit the PSU limit

  • @gabe7459
    @gabe7459 4 роки тому +2

    What about the power supply? I believe this model is somewhere between 200w to 250w. Would you need to upgrade the power supply and if so, what on Amazon could I buy that would fit in the HP 8300 SFF?

    • @TechRoundUp
      @TechRoundUp  4 роки тому

      Power supply will be fine for any low profile GPU, as the power consumption is limited to below the 75W threshold for PCIE, and will be pretty impossible to find a 3rd party PSU for the 8300 as it is a proprietary design

    I have another question. How were you able to get your Windows 10 key to re-activate Windows 10 again after putting in the new SSD and booting the PC up? All the parts I've ordered should be coming in the next few days and this is the only step I'm not sure of because I don't know if there's even a way to get your Windows 10 key on a refurbished PC since the OS was installed by a third party???

    • @TechRoundUp
      @TechRoundUp  5 років тому +1

      Just take note of the windows 10 key from system tab in control panel. You’ll then have to download the windows 10 iso onto a usb and boot from the usb after the SSD is installed. I have a video walking you through this. As long as you don’t change the mobo you should have no issue activating from the old key

      @@TechRoundUp Thank you so much! Sorry if I'm such a newbie. I didn't know that the motherboard retains all that information about your OS. What I initially thought was, if I took out the HDD which has the OS installed on it, I would have to buy a new activation key to re-activate Windows 10 or spend another $100 for a new Windows 10 CD after putting in an SSD.

    hell i thought the old model was ivy bridge and they only run at 4 GB let alone where is the power supply leads for the gpu cause there is none in mine 8300 . my guess is 16 GB will burn the chip out, there is no power leads in 8300 to supply the GPU and the imbedded on has a bios that wont let you switch it off so only maybe hybrid system if the computer recognizes the new cpu and run it though nividia system
