- Apple recently released the iOS 17.5 Beta, likely to be available for public download in May, and while there aren’t many new features, here’s everything that’s changed. Starting with the podcast widget. Which now changes color to match a show’s cover art. Something already seen with the Apple Music widget.

Why are they removing stop watch from dynamic island?
So that when they’ll reintroduce it on IOS 18, they’ll act like it’s a brand new feature. 😒

I’m kind of partial with the stopwatch. Now that I think of it, I either use it on my watch, on the actual app screen or with the phone on the Lock Screen but never actually used it with the Dynamic Island. But I still feel like the more features with the Dynamic Island the better, it shows what it can do. I use it for Uber, sports scores, Starbucks, baby monitoring, but the little details like stopwatch that makes it nice.

Hope they bring the stopwatch live activity back, because tbh I don’t see any reason why it took them so long to do it. Ever since iOS 16 I’ve been waiting for them to add this feature.

Greg, I've been holding off on 17.4.1 due to all the reported issues. Is it reasonable to assume that 17.5 will correct the previous glitches?

Apple is on a roll, quality of life updates such as transparent logo. Amazing!

With most minor (and Major) updates they fix some bugs, but I guess he didn’t mention it here as it is still a Beta
They fixed a lotta bugs in iOS 17 afaik- cuz haven’t experienced any since sept of last year

I’ve notice so many bugs that I forget them and can’t remember to type them out in a bug report to Apple.
Just the other day, my phone decided to turn off the lock sound for absolutely no reason at all, I didn’t turn it off, hell I didn’t even know it was an option. Thought it was stuck in do not disturb mode or silent mode, or the volume… lol
I notice very few bugs and this is the most stable my iPhone 14 Pro Max has been. And it’s the worst one I’ve ever had until recently

this is why I dont always update the Ios in each update they make. it make nonsense to do so, except there’s a major problem so an update is really needed😂
what bothers me is that the automatic updates on Airpods Pro Gen2, sometimes after an update, the noise cancelling goes bad😡
same thing as my Airpods Pro Gen1
now it’s in a state of being effing useless! it has hissing sound on left side. nomatter how much I connect it to the charger near my phone for the automatic updates.
at the end, it is Apple who makes AP Gen1 dies so youll have to buy the new one. IMHO.

I use that feature only to forget why i set that and carry in with rest until that time. But this being run infront of my eyes all the time is just a distraction and keep reminding about why i set that.
After installed 17.4.1 my phone started to overheat so I’m just hoping they will fix this issue
But the Dynamic Island stop watch was one of its most useful features
I still cannot see the battery percentage with a white background wallpaper once the battery starts depleting on the Home Screen. This has been a bug since I adopted iOS17 and despite repeatedly reporting it, it has never been fixed in any of the updates, not even this one! Truly frustrating.

Dynamic Island needs to be refined. I find its a big disappointment. Half the time when i tap the Dynamic Island, it disappears and nothing happens. Also, adding 2 background functions to each side needs to happen. It will show the background app I don't need to interact with, over the one I do.
i was about to hit “Do not recommend channel” because i’m so tired of UA-cam being saturated with so much unnecessary information, but I saw it was only a minute long so I gave it a try. this video was concise and straight to the point and it satisfied my curiosity so I ended up subscribing

the battery life of my 14 pro max went from 95% to 90% in a month upon updating to 17.4.1 🙂 i bought this august last year

a feature you missed that is amazing for bilinguals: text to speech now adapts to the language that its reading, so when I get a message in French, announce messages doesn't try to read it in English, but it reads it out in French. a feature i'v been waiting for for years.

i prefer this way of making iOS updates video to zollotech’s video. It’s neat, short, focus on the main points. In zollotech videos, even if an update is minor, he still go through too many steps here and there and just to later say there’s nothing new

iOS 17.4 Apple Music has a Bug can’t download over mobile data
Do these tiny changes even deserve another iOS build? I think it made a lot more sense on Android, you could update the stock apps without updating the entire OS. But here if you want two new emojis and a slightly different color in the Books app, which many people don’t even use, you need to download like 2GB.

Is it worth installing this update? I want to install iOS 17.5 Beta 1 on my iPhone 13 Pro Max, but I heard that there are supposedly many bugs after it such as: hanging FaceID, hanging the system, disconnecting from Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, the battery goes down faster, and many, many other bugs. Is this really the case and is someone using the same device as me? (I currently have iOS 17.4.1)

It really bugs me that the attitude towards AirTags is that there is no legitimate reason to track people with them.
Seems totally reasonable to give one to your kid to take with them on trips and such, especially if they don’t have an iPhone, in case of an emergency or to more easily coordinate a pickup.
Also would be plenty useful to give to family members who don’t use iPhones for general coordination, the same way many people do with continuously sharing their location between family members when they do have iPhones.
And yet the only way AirTags are talked about in these sorts of use cases is as a stalking tool.
Why has apple not released other stores for apps and games like epic games on phones in Europe yet?
Apple would prefer everything be sold through just the App Store like it has since day one, and since it's only available in the EU it wouldn't be worth it.
I just want the extended wallpaper feature to be removed. I just find it annoying when the top part blurs just because it's extended.
