I remember looking at it through a 3 inch telescope at a dark site after having looked at it through an 8 inch form my back yard and thinking how the old small telescope performs amazingly, it looked better in the 3 inch from a dark site, back when I was 10. Dark sky is everything for these targets!
@@smalloptics753 Hi Jason, i just wanted to share with you that i took some photos of the moon through my bedroom window using my cell phone which turned out pretty good. I know that going through more glass is not recommended but i finally had a clear night and there is a lot of humidity where i live so i just tried it and using my cell phone and it came out pretty good!!!
Two nice targets to be viewed in the summer months and I must admit to becoming lazy by relying on my go to telescopes to find targets. I think it’s time to do a bit of star hopping to keep my eye in. Thanks Jason
Awesome Video Jason. Love The Information on this Nebula. The Triffid Nebula, is My Absolute Favourite, I have Seen the lagoon nebula Last Year. I couldn't really See A Lot of Nebulosity, All I saw Was a Cluster of Stars And some Fuzzines :))
Hello Avanteesh, thank my friend. Yes unfortunately that's all most telescopes will see visually but just the thought of what you are looking at makes it all the worthwhile. Take care friend, clear skies :)
The lagoon nebula is a nice fun one to finds. I got to see it in bortal 3-4 skies a week ago, and it looked great. Sky Fogged over before I got to the triffid one though
Hello Thomas, I bet it looked great in those kinds of conditions, shame the fog spoild it for you. Sods law isn't it? If not fog clouds usually spoil the party. Take care pal🙂
Hallo Jason, here is a new star gazer over from germany. I`ve seen a couple of your videos and would like to thank you for your fine work! This is a great help for a lot of people like me and I`m curious to see more. Now best wishes from the harz mountains!!
@@smalloptics753 Hello Jason! May I ask you one more question? Though my english is not to bad I dont have any idea what is meant by cone error. Can you help me? greetings from the harz mountains! Uwe
Thanks for the fantastic video. :-) M8 was easy to find in my 7x35 binoculars. I then used my Orion Skyscanner 100/400 Mini-Dob to look at it. Nearby is M22, a nice globular cluster.
A streetlight obscures my view south but I can see south-west fine. Hoping I can see all this in august (turn left at Orion says it’s up July-sept). Cheers for the video
Hello there, Your more than welcome friend. I have the same problem at the moment with houses blocking my view :( so it's looks like it's going to be the end of August for the both of us..
Hi Jason interesting video as usual and I haven't seen.either objects because they barely rise here in Scotland and I know North England you'll see them. Where I live they don't rise high enough. I'll put them on my list of objects to see next year. Where in England.is best place to view these 2 objects? Even at Galloway and Dumfries at Scottish boarders they barely visible. Can both objects be photographed with dslr or smartphone just on tripod? How they appear in binoculars? Enjoyable video my friend and stay safe plus clear skies!!!
Hey Bushcraft, Yes that's the only problem with these two not getting very high in the sky. I have to wait till the end of Aug to get to see them as they are totally blocked by houses this time of year.. In bino's they are nothing spectacular just a ghostly haze. Astrophotography is not really my field but I would imagine you can with them being quite a bright DSO, As for your phone I will let you know on that one, the lagoon is something I'm wanting to have a go at later on in the year. All the best pal, clear skies :)
