Jason, I know this is more than a month later but I'd like you to know that I appreciate what you do. You offer great tips and really help the new, amateur astronomer like myself. I also like what you said about not wanting to put out a video just for the sake of putting one out. That tells me that you're focused on quality. Good health to you sir.
Many thanks Jason, I'm a new backyard astronomy guy at 69 yrs old, I've found your invaluable & decided to buy a budget price 900x80mm refractor & a reasonable equatorial stand. I'm a complete novice & guess apart from the package having inferior lenses & 90 deg focuser, It's given me an insight to improve a little, my main challenge is alignment of the finder scope & duplication in the main scope , I've diligently tried your calibration on daylight objects & although the calibration screws don't appear reliable in the night sky , I'm trying to use a green laser pen & engineering a pointing system securely fixed to the scope tube that is finely calibrated to be reliable. I'm English ( Lincolnshire) and living my retirement in Brasil. We live 2k metres in the mountains 4 hrs from Sao Paulo, so the night sky's are perfect viewing with the naked eye , 22 deg South. I have all the time in the world to spend warm nights by the pool with my new hobby & a few beers 😂 have you had experience of using a laser to project Green beams of light at stars etc. ? , once again many thanks for your down to earth grass roots astronomy, I'm looking forwards to seeing something in the night sky , up until now it's mostly been the space between objects 😂 but I'm pretty patient 🤗 regards Dave Bates

i had the same virus over Christmas, was absoloutely horrible and i couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Glad to see you're doing ok!
Great to see you're getting well. I like your channels down to earth low cost advice, tips, ideas etc. I particularly like your vids showing DIY solutions/adaptors/ideas etc that don't cost a fortune, obviously because our beloved hobby is incredibly expensive most of the time anyway! lol.
Video suggestion - maybe do a video about basic DSLR camera astrophotography? Super basic with a rule which states you can only use the DSLR camera and lenses you already own at home, and a basic camera tripod? Give folk a taster on the basics of taking pics of the night sky, in terms of ISO settings, exposure lengths etc? maybe base this first video on Lunar astrophotography, seeing that the Moon is super bright, easy ( relatively! ) to image and likely won't scare most folk away! lol.

Tip for reducing your chances of catching colds in the future: do some daylight astronomy, especially sun-gazing. Get those vitamin D levels up to protect you from infection. Sort out two great things at once that way. xD
...I even get clothing company fashion companies getting in touch, I mean what's that got to do with astronomy...
Astronomers, professional or amateur, wear clothes when they're observing, this usually takes place outdoors, and at star parties, and especially when it's cold outside.😁

Glad to see you back!!! How about a video on the basic maths behind understanding the numbers you find on a telescope. That way if you’re looking at a telescope in a store or online you can tell at a glance, from memory or by pulling out a note, what that particular telescope would be best at viewing.

Dave Bates ( Brasil ) ps , I really enjoy your channel & was the 1st I came across, I've obviously looked at other YT channels, but some are pushing certain company products & don't give a personal insight. As mentioned in my previous comment, the beautiful night sky's here in Monte Verde Brasil , are a real beauty for the naked eye , so I'm really hoping to enhance that connectivity with a reasonably good telescope, ps. We have good Google pics of the moon etc, but seeing through a lense without digital AI is a real experience with no fakery 😊
Hello, Jason! I’ll echo what others have said already regarding you making it through the other side of that sickness. I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better, and still have plans for the future of the channel. You may get these comments a lot, but I was gifted a telescope this past Christmas and it completely captivated me. Once assembled, I kept wanting to do more and learn more. That brings me to you and your channel. This channel has been instrumental in teaching me MANY (probably most) of the basic principles and concepts that one needs to know before getting started, and through your early astronomy journey. Don’t get me wrong, there’s stuff here for everyone and I’ve definitely continued to find things from your channel that go beyond my initial description. However, I just wanted to praise you for your demeanor, knowledge, and ability to relay information in a very digestible and understandable manner. Thank you for helping make this wonderful hobby something that everyone can enjoy at any level. Looking forward to the future!

Im not a beginner but not an expert either. I do Astro photography with some success. I suck at photoshop and stacking. My main problem is my go to system and getting a bad alignment either on the polar scope or star alignment. My success rate is probably 50 per cent or less on getting it right. I have a 6 inch newt celestron telescope and an Orion pro mount with the go to system and a cannon DSLR camera. No electric guide scope or computer. Tablet with WiFi connection to the cannon camera. I have been going over your videos to see if I’m missing something, sometimes I forget some of the basics

This year has started off great for me. On the 1st of January I've been able to look at the crab nebula; I followed some of the advices you had given in the video you made about it.

Glad that you're okay Jason, I enjoy a lot your videos on general, but for me the staple of the channel is this simple tips on how to enjoy the hobby, last week I just went out without a telescope like you sometimes mentioned and enjoyed recognizing and naming the constellations! Hey bud!! Just wanna say you have the best videos your fun and easy to listen to and I have you always playing in the back ground when I’m messing with my new telescope!!! I have a ADA 12inch dob and been struggling hard trying to find the cool objects and learn the sky in my B9 sky’s! :( BUT I did finally get to see M82!!!! So I know it’s possible! Had both in view with my 25mm eyepiece! I do have a question or if anyone else can help as I’m still new to this… what kind of filter lens can I use to be able to see some nebulas through my telescope beside the Orion Nebula I would love to see the dumbbell nebula!!

Glad health is back!!! I have quastion about eye pieces and eye relief: What do you think is great eye piece for planetary, cluster astronomy? Some of my friends are interested to look at the sky and I want the best experience for them. Some of them wear glasses as do I. Thank you very much ♥♥♥

I have a T piece adapter for my nikon to my reflector telescope, and i couldn't deal with it connecting it to my 3x barlow
I always wanted to capture the Orion nebula with my dslr, and i keep getting dark images
But i can catch the bright stars like rigel and capella
