I have one Madkatz rod and two Warrior Cat rods. Both offer exceptional customer service. Warrior Cat customer service went beyond expectations for me. The issue that I ran into with a lot of rod makers is that they only offered rods in 7'6" length or over. I don't fish with rods over 7'2" to include my bass rods because I do a lot of kayak and bank fishing..
@FishinNStuff I have bought my last off the rack built rod. Will be going to Mudhole near Orlando to get what I need to build my own. I'm big on DIY so this is right down my alley. Also into 3D printing. Printed my own 4 rod tote from thingiverse.
Good un Keith. Glad to see you weren't there just to have fun, but we're actually workin. And more than that thinking about all of that wasn't there. Buddy, I sure hope your wife appreciates how hard you were working there. I really like the Ugly Sticks, I've been a big fan for years. Keep the great videos coming brother. God bless you and your family my friend. Stay safe, and wishin tight lines for you.
I would love to have any of them rods but, money plays a big part for me. I’m using B & M rods from Walmart. One day I will get me one of them fancy rods though. Great video Keith.
So many rods to pick from, it's hard to pick just one, I have been using the ugly sticks for years but last year started using the whisker seekers, and this year went with a few Slimecat rods. Sad thing is I'm in Comifornia and we don't have any shops that cater to Catfishing, just bass or trout so i always have to order on line. Another Great video..
Its fun to go to conventions i enjoy it alot . Thats some cool rods that can be smashed and bent like that ! Id like to buy a couple of those hmmm i wonder if they sell blanks to build a couple . Good Stuff As Usual on this channel Keith !
I own a Hellcat rod (good rod) and reached out to Catch the Fever about a dragging rod with no response to my emails (working 10-12 a day and couldn't call at the time). Had an issue with the Whisker Seeker rod aluminum reel seat, did a review about it and Whisker Seeker reached out (they contacted me) and fixed the issue. Anyway, Whisker Seeker with their customer service has my business and I spend all my money with them. Keith, Love the videos,. You do a great job explaining things and your videos are entertaining, Keep it up!!!
Thank you brother . Believe it or not . I had the same problem a few years ago . But their customer service has really improved. I can say that . I think it may have been because of some employee changes . One bad apple makes you lose your taste for all of em sometimes . But I've noticed things have gotten better . But in my opinion they both make good rods and they are 2 of the oldest companies in the Catfish rod business
I absolutely enjoy all of the 20+ videos I have watched and can find only one criticism. You continue to use the word "cheap" when, based on your content and purpose, you mean "inexpensive". Cheap means that you don't get what you paid for or what you bought isn't worth what you paid, isn't good use of/waste of money and the end result, in your case, won't last very long. Inexpensive, on the other hand, means you got/get more than you paid for, quality, will last a long time, results in a favorable deal/result and worth your money. Do what you want with this information as I know it will be too expensive to correct/res-shoot all your videos but you might want to re-think which word you use in the future because all of your videos are the result of inexpensive application of quality materials. KEEP UP THE GREAT VIDEOS!
Great video as always, man I wish I would've sent you after a couple of those muddy river blue cat rods . Looks like the conference is growing big time, Thanks for sharing,
My compliments on including some commentary about the Ugly Stik. I just got an Ugly Stik Tiger Elite, and paid $59 for it. I realize the other rods you showed are "specialized", but they are FAR more $. Love 'dem Ugly Stiks! Just sayin'.
I bought one 6-8yrs ago, don't really care for it bank fishing.Decent boat rod or as I use it for a pier rod when I get to the salt.I do not care for the giant gimbal butt on it,there's no need for a gimbal butt unless you're fishing salt. I have a couple rods now that I like and they only cost $24ea a couple yrs ago and are 100% fiberglass.I'm trying to find a few more but they're hard to find as they're always sold out everywhere or I'd mention the brand and model.
@@bigdoggstatus99 Yeah the reels aren't very good, but probably better than most of those off-brands.I only use Shimano,Daiwa,or Penn, still have a few Quantum Irons and MG though and they still worked great. I have a EC featherweight,I liked it,till one day the butt handle broke inside the cork. Now it's like casting a wet noodle. Can still use it to lob baits.I don't think I'll get another EC rod even if it was all fiberglass.IF I could find the one I have I'd get 4 more,1 cast for me and 3 spinners for a buddy. My favorite UL setup for Crappie, etc. is a 7' Ugly Stik elite with a Daiwa CC80.I can cast a 1/32 with a Trout magnet float.
I ended up buying 7 Rippin Lips rods this year, 3 Legacy, 1 Legacy SE and 3 HD's. I started off with 2 and then bought a bunch more after fishing with them. They were what I was looking for. These companies charging $100+ for some heavy ass E-glass 1960's party boat rod blanks is criminal.

My smaller rods like UL,L,Med I like them to be fiberglass too but they're hard to find.Even my 10' fiberglass UL isn't bad to use all day for Crappie, but then I was used to working and swinging a 17-20lb chainsaw 10+ hrs a day and 1-2lb isn't going to matter. I have had a few composite rods break, one had a 6" chunk fly past my head and nearly took my eye out.Never had a 100% fiberglass rod break in my 46 or so years fishing. The one Rippin Lips rod broke the tip just getting it out of the truck.Emailed them about it to see if there was a replacement tip for it since it was a 2pc rod.Nope no replacement tips. I wish I could find more of the rods I replaced them with, they were only $24ea. but 100% fiberglass.

Give me the $80 Berkley Ecat for dragging, the $80 Ugly Stik Bigwater for suspending, and the $25 Berkley Big Game for bumping. Very few of the rods I saw at the conference were any better, although they were pretty looking and dag gum eck pen sev! Just a lil FYI on long rods.Between short rods and long ones the longer ones will exert more pressure to you than it does the fish.Think of it like a seesaw and you move the center fulcrum towards one seat.A longer rod does the same to you. With back problems like me you'll notice it much sooner. If you need a long rod to get some casting distance you might need to look at your casting technique.IDL how far you need to cast to get in some places from the bank, but my lil 6'6" Med 100% fiberglass can cast a 2oz flat bank and cut bait on #30 braid and #40 mono leader out 100-115yds. if I really need to but that's all in casting technique.Where I live in PA rarely do I have to cast any further than maybe 75.
Twisty eye rods are getting harder to find. We use them for salmon trolling rods here in Canada on the great lakes, even as a tackle shop owner most of my suppliers do not carry the twisty eye rods anymore. If you can find a blank you like and know someone who can do custom rod building , that might be your best choice to making the rods you want. But it will be pricey.
@@rider660r You won't find a surf fisherman fishing with anything less than a 9 footer. When I bank fish, I use up to 6 oz weight and another 6 oz of cut skipjack, and launch it up to 150 yards on a 12 ft Penn pursuit surf fishing rod. @@markybob_bassplaya1462 Hahaha yeah, but you don't understand why surf fisherman use long rods at the ocean if your sitting on baits.Short 6'-8' are good if your casting and retrieving constantly. Thank you ! It’s fun watching your shows and looking up fishing hacks for personal fishing ideas. It was pretty cool meeting at the conference. I was so nervous I didn’t even think to ask for a picture. Lol
Mam it was great meeting you too . I've got to move my daughter this week end so I've been working every day or I've never get my video finished . I stay pretty busy . Do you live in NC
Oh I know. Just a wee bit out of the budget at the time. But it's warming up so I always come back to your videos to freshen up on some knowledge and hacks.
I don't have a problem with Uglystix at all that's why I put em in it . But they do have less backbone than the others . But you could use the ugly stix Tiger rods . Because the difference is all big Catfish rods are designed for Saltwater fishing . The Ugly stick Tiger rod is their saltwater design
No I never seen them and I wish I would have I was slammed all day both days . Honestly I didn't even know they were there . I only did rods if the owners were actually there and I hate that I missed them
Loved the rod which could bend all the way around and not break. My preference for the range of saltwater fish we target is medium-light action on an unbreakable rod. Haven't found that combination yet, so we end up replacing rods every so often 😂.
what kind of fish are you targeting? For instance, you need a different rod fishing for the same fish if you are on a jetty in Massachusetts or a jetty in Florida or a pier in Florida. Just sayin'.
@@rembrandtshadows Our actual target species are any legal edible fish that bite 😋. What we reasonably get are anything from small-mid pinfish and croaker to large slot redfish and black drum. Mixed in are Sheepshead, whiting, flounder, speckled trout, multiple types of bass, warmouth, and several other tasty critters. Medium-light action is perfect for those fish. Every now and then we'll get a bull redfish, large mackerel (king or Spanish), large stingray, massive jack crevalle, and the occasional shark or gator. I'm perfectly happy not landing the big beasts in the kayak - but I've had more than one rod shattered when one of those big critters ran under the boat before I realized what it was and could adjust for it or cut the line.
I love my HellCats . They do make other rods too . But any rod on this video will serve you well I would think . That's why I left the argument up to the vendors lol 😆
My favorite rod will be the one with eyes that don’t get cut grooves by the line after two years(braid or mono) . Whisker seeker and ugly stik catfish have failed me in that position.
That old Whiskerseeker I showed has inserts in the eyes . That's a bad feature but I got a good deal on em 4 years ago . When they were switching everything over to aluminum reelseats
He was right about the Rippen-Lips blank. It makes long casts and you can feel the fight. However i have had to replace the tip guide because of line cuts. I dread the day i find cuts in the other guides. I have an old 9 foot Eagle Claw spinning rod. After years of braided line the guide inserts show no wear.
You said those scissors didn't weigh anything after you just showed us they weigh four ounces I'm just saying you know what I'm saying 😂 love the videos
I still like the Shakespeare SPL1100 rods in 7' , to bad the company still don't make them anymore. My SPL is over forty years and still going. If I find a SPL in any store I still buy them. Would like to try those hellcats though.
They don't make em like they use too . But I do really like the HellCats . The Ripping Lips rods they have me are really nice for the price . They are priced closer to an UglyStix
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't that scale say the hellcat rod was 17+ ounces? In my eyes, a light rod is under 10 ounces. NO WAY is a 17oz rod "light".
Your right it was 1.1 lbs . I miss spoke . And I didn't say it was light . I said it was impressive to have a 17 oz rod with an Aluminum reel seat . So technically that is a light rod . You won't find a 10oz rod with an Aluminum reel seat . If you do let me know so I can buy one
I'm on the west coast and do alot of offshore fishing. I'm thinking of buying one for yellow tail tuna "10-25lbs" i just can't decide on which one to go with.
I don't think ( just my opinion ) that you need an Aluminum reel seat . But if I was Tuna fishing like you . I would definitely get a rod with an Aluminum reel seat .
I add fishing to my videos sometimes . I've got some old videos of fishing trips . But I need to do some more I guess . I mostly just make stuff for fishing
It really depends on what you like and what you can afford . If you can't afford much . UglyStix are great rods and I still like em . But if you can afford a little more I like a rod with a little more back bone . Which uglystix lack in . They arch like a rainbow and you want backbone past the center of the rod . You dint need to spend alot to get that . But that's the only reason I upgraded my rods actually
My favorite rod is the one with a fish on the end of it😁😁😁
I know that's right!
AMEN!!
Amen to that brother, even if the rod/reel are compromised
That's the best rod ever!

Mam it was great meeting you too . I've got to move my daughter this week end so I've been working every day or I've never get my video finished . I stay pretty busy . Do you live in NC
No i live in Texas im guy in the Oklahoma hoody. Lol
Well its good to connect with you! Have a good day!
Now that was some cool rods.
Hay you need to do a test on all of them to see witch ome can do the cut .
I’m comen fer thet wallbass, just sayen love these videos keepem coming
Thank you Sir
That was a great video, a must!
Had to come back to this video to admire the hellcats again. Eventually I'll get a few to go with my penn reels that were left to me.
They are nice rods
Oh I know. Just a wee bit out of the budget at the time. But it's warming up so I always come back to your videos to freshen up on some knowledge and hacks.
My fav will probably always be ugly stiks me and my dad have at least 1 for every type of fishing.
I don't have a problem with Uglystix at all that's why I put em in it . But they do have less backbone than the others . But you could use the ugly stix Tiger rods . Because the difference is all big Catfish rods are designed for Saltwater fishing . The Ugly stick Tiger rod is their saltwater design
whisker whips!
I know you couldn’t include all rods in video. But did you get to check out the Anvil Rods?
They got my business that day .
No I never seen them and I wish I would have I was slammed all day both days . Honestly I didn't even know they were there . I only did rods if the owners were actually there and I hate that I missed them
Great Video Keith and all great owners and rods, but I wished you could of had the chance to talk with PJ Kirker, the owner of Trophy Cat Tackle.
Does he make a rod
@@FishinNStuff yes sir, Trophy cat tackle rods
Love my r&l rods I got the green ones you will like them.
I already do lol
@@FishinNStuff hope too see you out on lake Wylie soon . Oh and the green glows awesome as well
I got me a medium heavy orange hellcat haven't fished with it yet tho
Great info! Steven from Boston MA🇺🇸⚓️😎☃️
I can't find the FOA rods online
They are on Facebook . They have a Facebook page I know for sure
@@FishinNStuff thank you
As always, love the video!!! Thank you!!!🙂🐟🎣
The Lure is killin it
Lol
Loved the rod which could bend all the way around and not break. My preference for the range of saltwater fish we target is medium-light action on an unbreakable rod. Haven't found that combination yet, so we end up replacing rods every so often 😂.
Catch the fever (CTF) make a medium light "unbreakable." Check their trolling rods, I believe, for that specific rod action.
what kind of fish are you targeting?
That's really awesome 👌 👏 👍 ❤
Thank you
Good stuff as always. I roll my own and the are very close to the Hellcat. Just not nearly as loud.
I like what rippin lips said..He is not claiming his rods are the best. #respect
They are actually nice rods for the price
Amen Sir they all Awsome
Whisker seeker FMJ “know what I’m sayin?” Enough said right there…
You know more knew what I was sayin
When are you going to build/design YOUR fishing rod? 🙏❤️🇺🇸👍
I don't know about that . I'm not a rod specialist . If I ever did . I'd probably with with a rod company. It maybe I'll just do a DIY haha
Great show, thank you
I wish that someone would come out with a rod just like the king fisher and the conolon back in the 60-70
You said those scissors didn't weigh anything after you just showed us they weigh four ounces I'm just saying you know what I'm saying 😂 love the videos
You got a point lol 😆
Hallcat FTW!!
I did watch your last video. Thought you changed to the boat show channel. Looks like you changed your mind to the fishing pole advertisement channel.
I change all the time
Is there a website or something for the f.o.a rods or anything bc i can't find anything
Facebook FOA fishing gear
Another very interesting video Thank you
That's honestly my goal when making any video . Is to make it interesting and entertaining . So thank you Sir
Where can you find the F.O.A. rods at? i'm having trouble finding their website.
Look on Facebook FOA fishing gear
There is so many good quality rods on the market now.
Do you have contact info for Freddie at FOA?
They have a page on Facebook
I'm on the west coast and do alot of offshore fishing. I'm thinking of buying one for yellow tail tuna "10-25lbs" i just can't decide on which one to go with.
I don't think ( just my opinion ) that you need an Aluminum reel seat . But if I was Tuna fishing like you . I would definitely get a rod with an Aluminum reel seat .
Hey ya got F.O.A's link?
It's on Facebook FOS fishing gear
All are great rods except for one thing NO MED HEAVY 2 PIEACE SPINNING RODS were available.
I saw spinning rods but I didn't even think about 2 piece hmm 🤔
Love the videos , do you make videos of ya fishing?
I add fishing to my videos sometimes . I've got some old videos of fishing trips . But I need to do some more I guess . I mostly just make stuff for fishing
@@FishinNStuff keep makin them too, I made a cool battery bank after watchin one of your videos
Im in Arizona and a weekend catfish fishing person what should I go with for my catfish pole and real?
It really depends on what you like and what you can afford . If you can't afford much . UglyStix are great rods and I still like em . But if you can afford a little more I like a rod with a little more back bone . Which uglystix lack in . They arch like a rainbow and you want backbone past the center of the rod . You dint need to spend alot to get that . But that's the only reason I upgraded my rods actually
Are there any catfish rods that use Fuji guides on them? I'm not a fan of stainless steel guides.
Look at the ripping lips rods . Like liked those and they had graphite reel seats . Not sure if they are fugi or not . Good price too
muddy river
i like the colors 👁️👁️ i might just get one them brown ones are nice i have 2 of the whisker seekers
They were super nice
Muddy River Blue Cat Rod.. Hands Down..
They are nice
Sorry I missed you at the conference
That’s it I’m coming for that wallbass I dang near choked on my apple on that , well all three but I’m going ya take my pole ta catch me a wooped
Lmbo
Can you do a video on the best reels for catfish
That would be a good video
@@FishinNStuff I get all my gear from following you, I appreciate all your videos!
